Finally! A ‘Riddick’ Image That’s Not Brown!

While I enjoy Vin Diesel’s Facebook image updates for Riddick, they’ve been a bit monochromatic. Now he breaks up the brown look with a bit of blue in this new image from the David Twohy directed sequel due in theaters September 6 from Universal. Diesel writes, “It has been 9 years since the Chronicles of Riddick was released… all along I knew I would eventually have to return to that dark place, the mind of an Alpha Furyan…

Karl Urban, Nolan Funk, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, Dave Bautista, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk and Keri Hilson fill the cast in which “Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Your First Good Look At The Necronomicon From The ‘Evil Dead’ Remake!!

Are you ready for your first good look at the Necronomicon from Fede Alvarez’s hotly anticipated Evil Dead remake>?? It actually looks quite a bit different from the original, opting for a more surgical, moist vibe.

In the remake starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, Jessica Lucas and (maybe) Bruce Campbell, “Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

New Pic From ‘Paranormal Activity 4′ Plays Coy

Catfish duo Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are back for Paranormal Activity 4 after directing Paranormal Activity 3. For my money PA3 is actually the best in the series (at least until they leave the house and go to grandma’s or whatever) so I’m fairly curious to see where they go here. One thing’s for sure – the only thing this pic confirms is that this chick is careful. After all, she has a case for her iPhone!

Were told that the sequel will explore the family of witches we saw in PA3 (who live next door to a newly introduced family) in this fourth film from creator/producer Oren Peli. While inside insiders tell us Katie Featherston won’t return, the filmmaking duo refuse to clarify. I guess we’ll find out on October 19th! Or earlier if you’re in one of the cities that “wants it.”

[TIFF '12] New Bloody Still From The Eli Roth Starring ‘Aftershock’!

A little while ago director/actor Eli Roth (Hostel, Inglourious Basterds ) let it slip – a little early I might add – that Aftershock would be having its world premiere as an official selection of the Midnight Madness portion of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The film is an earthquake thriller scripted by Roth, Nicolas Lopez & Guillermo Amoedo.

The plot revolves around an insane asylum on an island, where the inmates escape during the quake. It’s the next “Eli Roth Presents” film, and it marks the English-language debut from director Nicolas Lopez. His last two films, Que Pena Tu Vida and Que Pena Tu Boda, were the highest-grossing Chilean films of 2010 and 2011. Roth most recently produced The Last Exorcism, a microbudget film that grossed $70 million worldwide.

Roth and Lopez wrote the story together, inspired by the latter’s experience when an earthquake devastated Chile in 2010. The film is four weeks into production in Chile. In his first big acting role since Inglourious Basterds, Roth plays the lead. Among the other cast is Selena Gomez, who was in Chile doing a concert and came over to do a cameo.

And now that Roth spilled the beans, we can give you a new still! Head inside for a better look! TIFF runs from September 6th-16th. READ MORE

No Joke! Lady Gaga Has Joined ‘Machete Kills’ (And So Has Alexa Vega)!

*Update: Robert Rodriguez just confirmed via Twitter that Lady Gaga has joined the cast as “La Chameleon”. He has also debuted a special poster for her character.

Remember the days when films boasted of having “a cast of thousands”? Probably not, but maybe you’ve read about them. In any case, Robert Rodriguez’ now-filming Machete Kills might actually be able to make that claim by the time it’s all wrapped up. Here we have a photo of Alexa Vega – you might remember her from the original Spy Kids movies from when she was a tyke – in character as “KillJoy”. Gaga and Vega join Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara, Zoe Saldana, William Sadler, Edward James Olmos, Charlie Sheen, Elise Avellan and Electra Avellan.

The sequel finds the titular ex-federale (Trejo) recruited by the U.S. government to stop a terrorist named Mendez the Madman, who happens to be Mexico’s leading cartel dealer. Gibson is set to co-star as Luther Voz, a cunning arms dealer and death merchant who aims to spread war across the planet by launching a nuclear missile. Heard will play a manipulative assassin code-named Miss San Antonio. Pic co-stars Demian Bichir and Charlie Sheen as the U.S. president. The first film was based on Rodriguez’ faux trailer included in Dimension Films’ 2007 Grindhouse.

TV: Image From “Dexter” Season Seven, It’s Not Gonna Ignore The Deborah Situation…

Dexter Header 61212 TV: Image From Dexter Season Seven, Its Not Gonna Ignore The Deborah Situation...

A new on-set snapshot from the seventh season of “Dexter” provides some decent support for their assertion that they’ll tackle Deborah’s simultaneous love declaration and discovery of Dexter’s dark passenger head on. Executive producer Scott Buck tells TV Guide, “Viewers might think we shy away from that moment of Debra walking in and seeing Dexter stabbing into Travis’ chest, but it’s just the opposite. She now has to deal with what she’s seen and what she knows. And it forces him to defend and define himself.

For those of you keeping tabs on new characters, Matt Gerald (Avatar, “The Shield”) joined up for a multi-episode arc as a violent blue-collar criminal. Katia Winter (Arena) was cast as a Russian stripper who works in a Miami club. She joined fellow Season 7 newbie Ray Stevenson (“Rome”), who was recently cast a high-ranking member of an Eastern European crime ring who arrives in Miami determined to learn who killed one of his associates, and TV vet Jason Gedrick as the owner of the club where Winter’s character works.

“Dexter”‘s seventh season is set to premiere Sunday, September 30. Head inside for the (smallish) pic. READ MORE

Idris Elba Looks Kinda SyFy In This ‘Pacific Rim’ Snapshot

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ Guillermo del Toro directed epic sci-fi action adventure Pacific Rim has been keeping impressively quiet regarding officially released media. I’ve heard great things from people who have seen more to do with the project than I have, which is why I’m sort of surprised by my lackluster reaction to the pic of Idris Elba below.

In the film “When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Del Toro is directing from a script by Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans). Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Mary Parent are producing, with Callum Greene serving as executive producer. The film stars Charlie Hunnam (TV’s “Sons of Anarchy”), Idris Elba (Thor), Rinko Kikuchi (The Brothers Bloom), Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses), and Ron Perlman (the Hellboy films). The ensemble cast also includes Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke.

Riddick-6

‘Riddick’ Has Quite The Walking Stick In This New Pic From The Set

For a long time, the good money was on David Twohy and Vin Diesel never getting Riddick off the ground. The third film in the Pitch Black franchise was but a pipe dream for its star. But things have changed (more specifically, Fast Five happened) and here we are. The film is now shot and in post, but that hasn’t stopped Vin from updating his Facebook page with new images.

Per Diesel, “A still from the Riddick set this year… we are in post and I can’t tell you how excited I am to see it manifest. You all were such a part of it becoming a reality… willed it into being, so to speak…

Riddick also stars Karl Urban, Nolan Funk, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, Dave Bautista, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk and Keri Hilson, “The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. First ‘Sightseers’ Pic Is Indeed A Sight To Behold

First Sightseers Pic Is Indeed A Sight To Behold

With Kill List topping multiple year-end lists, including Mr. Disgusting’s, all eyes are on director Ben Wheatley’s next project Sightseers.

It started shooting a few months back and now, courtesy of Empire Online, we have our first look at the film itself. In the accompanying interview, Wheatley concedes that the film will be less dark. Per Empire, “There will be kills, and there may even be a list of some kind, but Wheatley insists that this is lighter fare than his last two outings, ‘Down Terrace’ and the film that birthed the Kill List Stare. It’s not as dark as Kill List,’ Wheatley tells Empire, ‘I’d have to shoot a child in the head live on television to be darker than that, but it has the same humour and the same worldview. But it’s also quite romantic, a bit more of a love story.’

Actors Alice Lowe and Steve Oram wrote the script about a couple on a countryside caravan trip that goes wrong. “Chris (Steve Oram) wants to show Tina (Alice Lowe) his world and he wants to do it his way – on a journey through the British Isles in his beloved Abbey Oxford Caravan. Tina’s led a sheltered life and there are things that Chris needs her to see – the Crich Tramway Museum, the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Keswick Pencil Museum and the rolling countryside that separates these wonders in his life. But it doesn’t take long for the dream to fade. Litterbugs, noisy teenagers and pre-booked caravan sites, not to mention Tina’s meddling mother, soon conspire to shatter Chris’s dreams and send him, and anyone who rubs him up the wrong way, over a very jagged edge…
