Phil Mucci, the mastermind behind music videos for bands such as High On Fire, Opeth, Stone Sour, Das Muerte, and more, and Diabolik have been tapped by stoner rock band Monster Magnet to direct their upcoming music video for “The Duke”, which comes from their latest album Last Patrol (which I highly recommend!).
Mucci describes the video: The untold story of the mysteriously unharmed survivor discovered at ground zero, Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6th, 1945 – an innocent young school girl who may hold the keys to the gates of Hell…
We recently premiered Mucci’s incredible “All Those Delicate Cuts” video from Das Muerte, which you can watch here.
You can listen to “The Duke” below as well as read quotes from cast, crew, and Monster Magnet frontman Dave Wyndorf! Also, make sure to pick up Last Patrol via iTunes. READ MORE
Late last year, I posted a teaser for Das Muerte‘s music video “All Those Delicate Cuts”, which is directed by the ever incredible Phil Mucci. Well, little did I know that I would be getting the opportunity to premiere the video for all of you! And honestly, it’s once again a testament to the fact that Mucci is one of the most inventive and innovative directors in the music industry today.
Influenced by The Shadow, Dick Tracy, and more, the video is a smorgasbord of amazing visuals with a wicked story, all set to the insanely strange yet catchy track. The song itself reminds me a bit of Mr. Bungle but even crazier, if you can imagine that.
The band comments, “Das Muerte has always focused on developing unique rock, blending styles and exploring outside-the-box music concepts. It was a match made in heaven for us to be working with a unique director like Phil Mucci and his Diabolik crew. Phil works his videos in the same experimental and daring way that we work our music. The intensity of his storyline was the cherry on top for our single, and we hope to turn this into a bigger continuing story with more videos to follow.”

Female-fronted heavy metal band Huntress have unveiled a retro sci-fi poster for their upcoming music video for “Zenith”, which is on their upcoming album Starbound Beast (out July 2nd via Napalm Records). The poster was designed by Phil Mucci, director of the video. Mucci’s past credits include High On Fire, Stone Sour, Pig Destroyer, and more. The video will be released this summer.
Huntress is about to embark on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival where they will be featured on the Jägermeister stage June 29th through August 4th. The band launched a “Virtual Yard Sale” on IndieGoGo to raise funds for this tour and the perks there are pretty badass! Huntress is offering up some oddities for sacrifice, like vulgar artwork by vocalist Jill Janus, phone calls, hang outs and water balloon fights with the band, plus pre-order packages of the new album. But perhaps most relevant right now is the perk where you can get an autographed print of the amazing “Zenith” poster (on top of a whole lot more)! Head on below for full details about this perk!
Make sure to pre-order Starbound Beast on iTunes. READ MORE

Grindcore band Pig Destroyer has released a never before heard EP entitled Mass & Volume in dedication to Relapse Records member Pat Egan, who recently passed away due to complications stemming from pneumonia. All proceeds of the album will be going to a college fund for Pat’s daughter, Katie. The EP can be purchased here or below.
The band comments, “Pat Egan was a friend and a keystone member of the Relapse family for many of the years we have been involved with it. He devoted his life to supporting underground music and he immeasurably helped develop the bands he worked with. His untimely passing on February 18 2013 shocked the many people that his life and work had touched.”
The band explains the EP, saying, “This EP was written and recorded during the final day of the Phantom Limb sessions with unexpected extra studio time and resources. In the following years, with Natasha being released on its own and Brian no longer being in the band, our intentions of releasing Mass & Volume basically evaporated. However, looking back now, Mass & Volume serves as a great epilogue to that particular era of the band.” READ MORE

Grind metal band Pig Destroyer have resigned to Relapse Records fresh after the release of their fifth studio album Book Burner, which came out Oct. 22nd. The band commented issued some comments celebrating this event:
“Super excited to be a part of the extraordinary Relapse Records again! A song comes to mind in the melody of the “Team America” jingle. “Relapse, FUCK YEAH! Once again, signing a muthafuckin contract!” – Adam Jarvis
“Relapse has been a great home for both ANb and Pig Destroyer since the very early days. We’re not an easy band to deal with but Relapse has been patient, enthusiastic, and accommodating to our headache-inducing schedules, our strict adherence to not touring or behaving like a normal band, and just generally being pains-in-the-asses. We wouldn’t trade that for anything.” – Scott Hull
“I don’t always sign contracts with record labels, but when I do, I choose Relapse.” – JR Hayes

It’s been a long time since we’ve had any metal animals on BD Music and I’m very sorry to all of you about that. Nothing makes the day better than having an animal be a part of a good ole’ metal experience and sharing that with you is one of my great joys in life.

Relapse Records artist Pig Destroyer has released a video for “The Diplomat”, which comes off their latest album Book Burner (order here), their first release in five years. Directed by Phil Mucci, the video is a beautifully crafted piece of art that includes monkeys shooting the ever living crap out of each other, a corrupt, demonic businessman and a chauffeur that reminds me of something out of Jacob’s Ladder. One could easily look at this video and find it very satirical to a certain ongoing series of current events (COUGHthe electionCOUGH).
Check out the incredible video below! READ MORE
crustcake reports “Pig Destroyer have finally finished work on their new home studio (after recording in the basement of one of their parents’ houses for the last few years) and are writing material for a new album, which will (hopefully) be recorded this winter and released next fall. We don’t have any more information than that because there isn’t any, but for now we can certainly speculate on how good the album is going to be.”
I’m speculating, and the speculating is good. READ MORE
