Earlier this week, we posted an interview with the 2011 winners of Pilot season, Jeremy Haun and Jason Hurley, for their book The Beauty. Naturally, there are some other not-so-nice repercussions that come along with the good looks and hot bodies. Check out the beginnings of the beauty plague below. Read on for the skinny…

Interview: Jeremy Haun and Jason Hurley Reveal 'The Beauty'

With nearly a million votes in this year’s annual Pilot Season, The Beauty beat out seven other comic candidates to become a full fledged mini-series. The Beauty is Law & Order set against the backdrop of a viral outbreak. In the series, being beautiful becomes a sexually transmitted disease. Anyone that ever had body issues or a weight problem can solve their problems by contracting “The Beauty”, but the downside of being infected is those with the disease constantly run a fever.

The series begins when an infected woman on a subway, begins violently coughing as she spits up blood and she mysteriously bleeds to death. The two detectives first to emerge onto the scene of the crime are thrust onto the frontlines to face a plague outbreak of epic proportions.

Bloody-Disgusting caught up with artist Jeremy Haun and writer Jason Hurley to discuss winning this year’s Pilot Season, where the series is headed and the pressure to follow-up their critically acclaimed first issue.

Robert Kirkman Gets HARDCORE This April!

I know that I have said this before, but Top Cow Comics “PILOT SEASON” series has been one of the most entertaining and original series in comics, bringing us such titles as “MURDERER” and “DEMONIC”. The idea of running an entire series of original one shots and then allowing the readers to vote and choose 1 of those titles to move on as a monthly mini-series was one of the most innovative ideas I’ve heard in awhile, and this week Top Cow, Kirkman (“MARVEL ZOMBIES”, “WALKING DEAD”), and Silvestri (“UNCANNY X-MEN”, “WITCHBLADE”, “THE DARKNESS”) have announced the next title in the series, “HARDCORE”. Review: Pilot Season 'Murderer'

MURDERER marks the beginning of Top Cows’ very interesting ‘Pilot Season’ campaign that allows readers to vote which of 4 titles will go from being a one shot to getting its own mini-series (Think ‘American Idol’ for comics). Luckily, the task of writing these stories has been left in the ever-capable hands of Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”). READ MORE
