[Rant] Why I Hate The Grammy Awards

[Rant] Why I Hate The Grammy Awards
Disclaimer: I did not watch the Grammy Awards nor did I follow the goings on with any sense of scrutiny. These observations are purely personal in nature and might seem a tad disjointed.
Ah, the Grammy Awards. A celebration of the previous year in music. An opportunity for some of the most popular and well-respected musicians to come together and recognize the works of each other. It’s a time to see what true musicians have accomplished and enjoy the anticipation of what the next year will bring. It is also a time to aim the spotlight on up and coming artists who show great promise, ones that will add to the splendor that is music.
Oh wait, that’s what it should be. Instead, what we have is a big circle jerk where known musicians fawn over each other and the public gets to see more of what they’ve been seeing for the past year. Wonderful.
As you can tell, I have some serious issues with the Grammy Awards. So, I’m going to rant about them for a little bit! Warning: strong opinions lie below.

Zombie Nazi, Jigsaw, And Hot Girls In Cosplay Lip Sync Video

Anyway, some fine cosplayers at the London Film and Comic Convention whipped up a nifty video of a bunch of people lip syncing along to Pink‘s Raise Your Glass. There are all sorts of superheroes, super villains, and hot girls in costume. Check it out after the jump! READ MORE

Songs For Japan Album Up On iTunes

This is the first mention I’ve made in the music section about the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear situation that is going on in Japan. It’s not because I’m an insensitive prick (okay, maybe just a little), but it’s because there wasn’t really much I could relate to the situation. But if we think about it, the people in that situation are dealing with horrors far worse than we can imagine. They’ve lost their homes, their families and their livelihood. But now, we can help.

Songs For Japan Album Up On iTunes
Several music groups partnered up and have put together a 38-track iTunes exclusive album for $9.99 with songs from some of the biggest names in music, including Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Lennon, U2, Michael Buble, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, and many more.
