Beautiful Mondo Posters For ‘Halloween’ 35mm LA Screening With John Carpenter In Attendance

We know that John Carpenter’s Halloween will see a nationwide release beginning October 25th with select showings through October 31st. It will be the widest distribution the film has seen since originally shocking audiences in 1978. But while some of those screenings will be Blu-ray and DCP, we know one place where you can see the film on 35MM. In LA. With John Carpenter in attendance. Where? The New Beverly, of course.

Ticket prices are steep, but it’s for a good cause. It’s playing as part of the first-ever Debra Hill Film Festival on Saturday, October 27 at 730PM. One of the most beloved and influential producers of her time, trailblazer Debra Hill was one of the first women to establish herself as a major feature film producer in the modern era. All proceeds benefit the foundation.

Mondo artist Ken Taylor has created two variations of a beautiful poster for the event. Head inside to check them out. You can pick up tickets here. READ MORE

[NYCC '12] Hi-Res Look At That ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ One-Sheet!

We’ve now scored a high resolution look at that new Texas Chainsaw 3D poster that’ll be on display at the New York Comic-Con this coming weekend.

Texas Chainsaw 3D has been rated “R” by the MPAA for “strong, grisly violence and language throughout.” It was almost NC-17 and has footage from Tobe Hooper’s 1974 original post converted to 3-D. Evan Saathoff dissected the trailer.

In theaters January 4, 2013, the sequel is being directed by John Luessenhop from a screenplay by Adam Marcus, Debra Sullivan and Kirsten Elms. Dan Yeager, John Dugan, Bill Moseley, Alexandra Daddario, Sue Rock, Tania Raymonde, Scott Eastwood, Gunnar Hansen, Tobe Hooper, Paul Rae, Keram Malicki-Sánchez, Ritchie Montgomery, Trey Songz, Marilyn Burns, Shaun Sipos, Thom Barry and Richard Riehle star.

The seventh incarnation is a direct sequel to Hooper’s classic 1974 film that follows the lead character, Heather, who along with her friends, travel to Texas in order to collect an inheritance. The spin? What would you do if you found out your cousin was Leatherface, and he was now YOURS? READ MORE

A New Poster For ‘Hitchcock’ Taps Into Old School Style

Opening in limited theaters November 23 is Sacha Gervasi’s Hitchcock, “a love story about one of the most influential filmmakers of the last century, Alfred Hitchcock and his wife and partner Alma Reville.” The film takes place during the making of Hitchcock’s seminal movie Psycho.

Yesterday be brought you the first official stills showing Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock, along with Helen Mirren as his wife. And now we have a new poster for the film (via EW) that taps into the aesthetics of used to promote the master’s films back in the day.

The project is based on the non-fiction book by Stephen Rebello that tracks how Hitchcock, at the height of his game as a director, decided to make a “lowly” horror movie. No studio wanted to touch it initially, so Hitchcock scrounged for financing by himself. The movie, of course, became one of his biggest hits and one of the most influential of all time. Scarlett Johansson plays Janet Leigh, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, and James D’Arcy as Norman Bates himself, Tony Perkins. Toni Collette, Michael Stuhlbarg, Michael Wincott and Kurtwood Smith also star.

Since his arrival in China’s Jungle Village, the town’s blacksmith (RZA) has been forced by radical tribal factions to create elaborate tools of destruction. ‘Almost Human’ Comes Out Swinging With A New Trailer And A Badass Poster

Channel 83 Films has announced the debut of the trailer for the indie horror film Almost Human with a new poster designed by The Dude Designs (aka Tom Hodge). He’s known for his incredible designs for such posters as Hobo with a Shotgun and The Innkeepers, along with the recent DVD artwork for They Live. He supplied Almost Human with it’s beautiful retro artwork, giving off a vibe that harkens back to 80’s sci-fi/horror, much in line with the film itself.

In the film, written and directed by Joe Begos, “Mark Fisher disappeared from his home in a brilliant flash of blue light almost two years ago. His friend Seth Hampton was the last to see him alive. Now a string of grisly, violent murders leads Seth to believe that Mark is back, and something evil is inside of him.

The film stars Graham Skipper (Re-Animator: The Musical), Vanessa Leigh, and Josh Ethier. Almost Human has just completed post-production. More on a release date when it comes in. Be sure to hit up the film’s official Facebook and head inside for the goods! READ MORE

Vamps - 13

This ‘Vamps’ Poster Might Not Be Your Thing But…

Anchor Bay Films is releasing Vamps, on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, November 13th with a limited theatrical release on November 2nd. The film is from Clueless director Amy Heckerling and stars Alicia Silverstone (Clueless) and Krysten Ritter (“Breaking Bad”).

While this film is steadily shedding its horror credentials in order to reveal itself to be a flat-out romantic comedy, that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a bad movie. It just might not be for us is all. Regardless, I’m always curious to see what Heckerling comes up with next. She more than earned the benefit of the doubt with Fast Times At Ridgemont High.

In the film, “Goody (Silverstone) and Stacy (Krysten Ritter) are addicted to the night life, clubbing, hooking up and always looking for the next thrill, all the while keeping a big a secret-they happen to be modern-day vampires. But even with lifetimes of dating experience behind them, the duo realizes they still have a lot to learn about love when Stacy unexpectedly falls for the son of a vampire hunter, and Goody runs into the man of her dreams from decades earlier. With their destinies at stake, the girls are faced with a difficult choice; give up their eternal youth for a chance at love, or continue to live their uncomplicated fabulously single lives forever.

Vamps also features an all-star supporting cast, including Sigourney Weaver, Richard Lewis, Dan Stevens, Justin Kirk, Wallace Shawn, Marilu Henner, and Kristin Johnson. Head inside for the poster! READ MORE

[TIFF '12] Check Out The Exclusive Poster For ‘Hellbenders’!

The Burrowers director JT Petty‘s Hellbenders 3D certainly looks like one of the more interesting, raw and fun selections from this year’s Midnight Madness programming at TIFF. Now we have a really cool poster that totally complements the 70′s vibe that the whole enterprise seems to have.

Hellbenders, an R-rated 3D exorcism comedy, follows the Augustine Interfaith Order of Hellbound Saints (Brooklyn Parish), highly secretive and profoundly blasphemous men of God, as they battle demonic forces too terrible to be cast out by traditional Vatican-approved methods. Cast includes Clancy Brown, Clifton Collins Jr., Robyn Rikoon and Andre Royo.

The film premieres at 11:59 PM on Sunday, September 9th at the Ryerson Theater. Subsequent TIFF showtimes here. The Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 6th-16th. Head inside for the poster! READ MORE

[TIFF '12] Who’s This Fella On The New ‘The Lords Of Salem’ Poster?

After being announced as part of this September’s epic Toronto International Film Festival Midnight Madness line-up, Rob Zombie’s The Lords Of Salem has released another poster. The film, which will have its world premiere alongside 9 other fantastic sounding genre flicks, hasn’t gone light on the “interesting poster” front. The new one features a quasimodo type guy.

In the film, “Heidi, a radio station DJ, receives a wooden box containing a record. Heidi listens and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of Salem’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad or are the Lords of Salem returning for revenge on modern day Salem?

As someone who kinda liked The Devil’s Rejects, I’m hoping that this film is a return to that form. The Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 6th-16th. READ MORE

New Poster And Trailer For ‘Grave Encounters 2′

Like it or not, Grave Encounters 2 is on its way. In the sequel the crew from the first film has disappeared and a film student decides to go searching for them. Which I suppose makes the film kind of meta (and the film student perhaps a bit stupid). Anyway, we have our first trailer and a new poster from the film. I’m told that if you liked the first one…

In the film, “While researching the events depicted in the original film and the subsequent disappearance of its lead ”actor” Sean Rogerson, Alex Wright received a bizarre video from a mysterious blogger named “DeathAwaits666.” Appearing to show Rogerson still alive but trapped inside the Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital from GRAVE ENCOUNTERS, Alex and his friends agree to meet the blogger at the infamous hospital in hopes of learning what really happened. To their horror, they quickly find themselves face-to-face with unspeakable evil. Realizing that they must be smarter and faster than Rogerson and his crew to avoid suffering the same fate, they use their knowledge of the original film to do whatever it takes to survive.
