[EFM 12] The Mooring Drops Technology And Runs!

Out of EFM we caught wind of a new horror project from director Glenn Withrow entitled The Mooring. We’ve also got our hands on the trailer and official sales poster.

A group of gadget-addicted teenage girls come together in Idaho to work through a program run by psychologist Nancy. It’s a program about change, losing dependency on technology and forming real relationships. They set off up river in a houseboat, but are soon forced to moor and camp on a riverbank in the middle of nowhere. During the night, a strange, aggressive couple moors beside them, harassing the group. When the couple departs the next morning, Nancy decides to leave the girls briefly to get the boat fixed. The drifters return, setting out on a murderous rampage, hunting the girls down one-by-one through a thick, claustrophobic Idaho forest.

Classic Painted ‘A Little Bit Zombie’ Poster

Classic Painted A Little Bit Zombie Poster

Director and producer Casey Walker have supplied Bloody with a brand new poster for A Little Bit Zombie, the feature film penned by Christopher Bond, one of the creators of ‘Evil Dead The Musical’, and Trevor Martin. The poster was drawn by The Dude Designs, who blew everyone away with his Hobo With A Shotgun and Innkeepers posters last year.

The film just world premiered at Vancouver Island’s largest film and video festival.

Starring Shawn Roberts (Resident Evil: Afterlife), Crystal Lowe (Hot tub Time Machine), Kristopher Turner (Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures) and Kristen Hager, “ ‘A Little Bit Zombie‘ follows the adventures of a mild mannered groom-to-be, Steve (Turner), who becomes infected by a virus on a country weekend get-away. While he attempts to fulfill his overwhelming desire to eat brains and keep his bridezilla-to-be (Lowe) happy, he must avoid Max, the obsessed Zombie Hunter hot on his trail.”

A Little Bit Zombie also features Stephen McHattie (Watchmen, Pontypool), Emilie Ullerup (“Sanctuary”), Robert Maillet, George Buza and Neil Whitely. READ MORE

THR is reporting out of EFm that comic book artist-turned-director Kaare Andrews (Altitude ) is in final negotiations to direct Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, a prequel being made by U.S. and Dominican Republic-based producer, financier and distributor Indomina Group.

Patient Zero will tell the origin of the flesh-eating virus that was unleashed in the 2002 original, directed by Eli Roth. Jake Wade Wall, who wrote the remake of The Hitcher, penned the script that “follows the passengers of a cruise ship in the Caribbean that runs aground a research island. [EFM 12] International Sales Art For Cabin Fever: Patient Zero

One of the best independent films of the last decade is Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever, which ages like fine wine. With a sequel already in the books (Spring Fever was directed by Ti West and released in 2009), The Indomina Group announced back in October that they’ve landed franchise rights with plans on producing multiple films featuring more skin-rotting terror.

The Indomina Group has optioned the rights for two new Cabin Fever installments, which will be Cabin Fever: Patient Zero and Cabin Fever: Outbreak. The films will be shot back to back in the Dominican Republic in early Spring of 2012. Check out the EFM sales art for Patient Zero inside! READ MORE

[EFM '12] Fresh Still, Art For ‘Hamiltons’ Sequel, ‘The Thompsons’

[EFM 12] Fresh Still, Art For Hamiltons Sequel, The Thompsons

We’ve landed the first real still and EFM sales art for The Thompsons, the sequel to The Hamiltons.

The Butcher Brothers return to direct the vampire tale that stars Cory Knauf, Samuel Childs, Joseph McKelheer and Mackenzie Firgens.

In the sequel, a bloodbath at a gas station in the desert puts the family on the run, eventually seeing them resurface in the U.K. under a new identity as “The Thompsons.” Desperate for protection in this unfamiliar country, the Thompsons seek out the help of a shadowy underground rumored to be sympathetic to vampires.

The first film has not aged well, and I’m incredibly skeptical as to why a sequel was ever made. Your thoughts? READ MORE

[EFM 12] Meet The Devil Seed, First Trailer and Art!

Imagination Worldwide, who doesn’t have much of a “quality” track record when it comes to horror, is at EFM selling Devil Seed (formerly The Darkness), which is directed and co-written by Greg A. Sager, and stars Vanessa Broze, Michelle Argyris, Shantelle Canzanese, Kevin Jake Walker, Wayne Conroy and Michael G. Wilmot.

We’ve landed the bloody sales art and the following plot crunch: “Alexandra is a lively college student returning to live with her roommates, Jessica and Breanne after the summer holidays. After a night of drinking, Alex agrees to a psychic reading to learn about her future with her boyfriend, Brian, but during the reading a dramatic turn of events causes SOMETHING to go drastically wrong. When Alex awakes the next day, she can’t remember the events of the night before. She begins to hear creepy noises, hallucinate, black out and receive unidentifiable scratch marks all over her body. Afraid she’s going crazy, she seeks help from her friends but Jessica, Breanne and Brian are incapable of comprehending the scope of the darkness descending UPON her. Instead, Alex receives help from a school professor and his father who have dealt with the supernatural before. But as Alex’s condition worsens, it becomes apparent that it may already be too late to stop the entity from using Alex’s body as a gateway into our world.

Halle Berry’s Berries Used To Sell ‘Dark Tide’

Halle Berrys Berries Used To Sell Dark Tide

After being picked up by Lionsgate and Wrekin Hill Entertainment, a pretty boring poster has premiered for John Stockwell’s shark thriller Dark Tide, which features Halle Berry and those berries that made her so famous. It looks like they’re selling it as a surf movie as opposed to a horror-thriller. And what’s with the tagline – “In Shark Alley, courage runs deep…” – what the hell does that even mean?

Wrekin Hill acquired U.S. rights and will release the Halle Berry-Olivier Martinez action thriller on VOD, electronic sell-through and packaged media. The distribution plan leads off with a three-week Ultra VOD window on March 8th with a theatrical release on March 30th, culminating in a packaged media and Digital Download release.

In the film, “Kate (Halle Berry), shark naturalist and documentarian, has been reluctant to re-enter the water since the tragic death of her mentor. Once renowned for swimming with Great White Sharks without the protection of a cage, Kate now spends her days giving mundane wildlife tours. However, the surprise arrival of her old partner and boyfriend, Jeff (Olivier Martinez), convinces her to face her inner demons and get back in the water with the fiercest of predators.

Dark Tide also stars Ralph Brown, Adi Shankar, Luke Stein, Mark Elderkin, Thoko Ntshinga and Sizwe Msutu. READ MORE

‘Social Network’ Meets ‘[REC]3 Genesis’

 Social Network Meets [REC]3 Genesis

I’m crazy excited for Paco Plaza’s REC 3: Genesis, which is why there just isn’t enough news to keep me satisfied. In fact, it’s been a bit too quiet (I can only assume it’s going to premiere at TIFF this coming September). So just to keep the title in the news, two new posters have begun internet circulation, one of which is 100% fan-made. The fan-designed version is a take on The Social Network one-sheet that exclaims, “You don’t get a perfect wedding without killing a few zombies.” Pure gold. The other is said to be a cell phone snap of a new teaser that adds a chainsaw to the madness. We have not confirmed its validity…It’s just something pretty to look at.

Koldo and Clara are about to celebrate the most important day of their lives: their wedding.

Everything appears to be running smoothly and the bride and groom and their families are enjoying a wonderful day; that is until some of the guests start showing signs of a strange illness. Before they know what’s happening, the bride and groom find themselves in the middle of a hellish ordeal, as an uncontrollable torrent of violence is unleashed on the wedding.

Amidst the chaos, Koldo and Clara become separated and begin a desperate search for one another. What started off as an idyllic day quickly descends into a nightmare of the worst kind…READ MORE

Scream In Real Time With Official Silent House Poster Premiere!

After watching Martha Marcy May Marlene I’m even more excited for Open Road Films and Liddell Entertainment’s Silent House (review), their “real-time” supernatural thriller that promises that on March 9 “the silence will kill you.”

Bloody Disgusting was given the exclusive poster premiere for the haunter that features Martha Marcy May Marlene‘s Elizabeth Olsen and the tagline “Experience 88 minutes of real fear captured in real time.

The pic, which premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, was co-directed by filmmaking duo Chris Kentis and Laura Lau, who left audiences terrified with the hit film Open Water.

With no contact to the outside world, and no way out, panic turns to terror as events become increasingly ominous in and around the house.

Vampire Fanning Centerpiece of International ‘Twixt’ Poster

There’s one thing Twixt has going for it, and that’s the foresight to have cast Elle Fanning in one of the lead roles. The star of Super 8 is being used as the centerpiece of the international campaign as her creepy vampiric image is up front and center. If only the movie was as chilling….

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, the film was intended to hit the States as a roadshow where Coppola was going to edit the film “live” for the audience. No editing can save this film, which is probably why it has yet to hit cinemas.

Val Kilmer stars as “a writer with a declining career arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl. That night in a dream, he is approached by a mysterious young ghost named V. He’s unsure of her connection to the murder in the town, but is grateful for the story being handed to him.
