Texas goth-rock outfit One Eyed Doll has announced that they will be supporting Otep on an upcoming US tour. Support will also come from Picture Me Broken, which makes this a full female-fronted tour. The tour kicks off Mar. 8th in Sacramento and wraps up Apr. 18th in Phoenix.
The band will be touring in support of their upcoming fifth independently released album Committed, which will be out later this year. The album was produced by Sylvia Massy (Tool, Johnny Cash, Prince, The Red Hot Chili Peppers). A video for the title track can be seen below along with all the tour dates. READ MORE
Muse has released a lyric video (with a lot of the lyrics missing) for their newest single “Madness”, which comes off their upcoming album The 2nd Law, out Oct. 2nd (iTunes pre-order). The song is a mellow electronic piece that has definite elements and influence from Prince and even some gospel touches. The video can be seen below.
The problem is that it’s just not a good song. I’m not saying that by thinking of all the awesome songs that Muse has released over the past several years. Even if this were not a Muse song, it would still be pretty boring and uneventful. I’ve forced myself to listen to the song several times and nothing special or unique jumps out at me.
One of my big problems is that Muse is comprised of three unbelievably talented musicians and their skills are basically going to waste here. Matt Bellamy is a wizard when it comes to the guitar, creating unreal tones and sounds. Christopher Wolstenholme is a beast on the bass and is known for his incredible presence. And Dominic Howard is a fantastic drummer that makes perfect use of dynamics.
So what happened here? Where is all that talent? Where is all that skill? I understand that the band wanted to dive into new waters and test new avenues. But that doesn’t mean you have to throw away what makes you such a solid band! Use the skills you have to make those new avenues something unique and incredible, not old hat.

If you are anything like me, the above video probably tugs at your heart strings in who knows how many ways. Appearing on the VHS of Tim Burton’s Batman, the commercial was something I never skipped over, regardless of the fact that I’d seen it countless times. So, you might be asking what does this have to do with the Twisted Video Of The Week? Well, the answer lies in a single word: Prince. Below, you can watch Prince rock out Partyman, which has the artist dressed up like Joker but with makeup that almost represents Two Face. It’s a total throwback to one of my absolute favorite childhood movies.
Hard rock band Black Tide are gearing up for the August 23rd release of Post Mortem, their sophomore album. In anticipation, they have released a video for Walking Dead Man on Ultimate-Guitar.com. The video was directed by P.R. Brown (My Chemical Romance, Avenged Sevenfold, Prince). You can check it out after the jump.
“This song is inspired by all the negativity we’ve experienced. The negativity we try to cut out of our lives every day,” said guitarist/vocalist Gabriel Garcia. “If you’re feeling mad or confrontational, it’s a fun song to listen to.”
Okay, I have to say this right now: I love Electric Six. These guys are so much fun and are so catchy, I have trouble understanding those who can’t enjoy it. Plus, the video below is absolutely hilarious to me. Check it out and lemme know what you think!
Currently wrapping up production on their upcoming album titled ‘Zodiac’ (details forthcoming) slated for September 2010 release on Metropolis Recordings, Electric Six will be hitting the road this Summer, first with a handful of East Coast dates in July, including Hoboken’s Maxwell’s (July 14th) and NYC’s Rocks Off Concert Cruises (July 15th) and then launching their full-scale national routing in mid-September at Grand Rapids, MI’s The Intersection (Sept. 15th). Full tour dates are below.
Electric Six’s previous album ‘Kill’ enjoyed critical acclaim, including UK’s SPHERE Magazine (“[KILL] sounds like what would happen if Jamiroquai had a baby with Turbonegro and it was adopted by Chris Cornell, Mika and The Talking Heads”) to SPIN (“[KILL] crams Tenacious D, Prince, and 80′s metal into the same sweaty club”) to Rolling Stone (“… a saxed up, disco-metal epic”) and is one of Electric Six’s best records to date. PopShifter sums it up best when they opined, “you’ll be dancing your ass off from the first notes.”
Natalia Kills told Idolator.com of her “Love, Kills xx” film series, “I made it for my fans so they could get to know me better. It’s a collection of three-minute episodes of artistic visuals—me being myself but in unusual situations.” New episodes are unveiled Mondays at 5pm PST on http://www.nataliakills.com and Tuesdays on VEVO.
The short film is a companion visual piece to Natalia’s debut album Perfectionist, a sonic journey into her signature world of dark pop, due out later this year on will.i.am/Cherrytree/Kon Live/Interscope Records. Written by Natalia and influenced by the likes of Depeche Mode, Kate Bush and Prince, Perfectionist was helmed by star producers including Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Alicia Keys), Akon (Gwen Stefani, Nelly), Martin “Cherry Cherry Boom Boom” Kierszenbaum (Lady Gaga, t.A.T.u.), Fernando Garibay (Britney Spears, Lady Gaga) & Neff-U (Keyshia Cole, Ashanti).
