Welcome to Games You Should Have Played. Where I attempt to shame you for not playing specific video games. Numbers don’t lie. Since the release of the original Silent Hill, the games have struggled to raise sales as the years have gone by. It’s a damn shame because it’s a great series. And for the most part each game has come with a solid story, great atmosphere, and nightmarish creatures. A lot of fans of the franchise have gotten more and more harsh towards each new game in the series, as Konami and the random developers attempt to bring the game into the future while retaining deep roots. Past the break I hope to shame you into playing Silent Hill: Origins if you haven’t. Enjoy!
It took a decade for a new Parasite Eve game to come out, but when The Third Birthday finally released last December it didn’t necessarily live up to the years of hype and expectations. If you felt a little let down then this news might tickle your fancy as the ESRB recently rated Parasite Eve II for the PS3 and PSP. It looks like it will soon join the original game, which became a PS1 Classic last February.
No word yet on when we can expect it but hopefully the game will release soon so they can get to work on the inevitable remastered versions of the first two. Now that’s something that I’d be interested in, no more of this untouched re-release nonsense. READ MORE
Konami dropped another Silent Hill bomb at their pre-E3 presentation. They announced Silent Hill: Book Of Memories for the Playstation NGP (The New PSP). The only bit of information is that they plan on taking the series where it’s never gone before. Outer space…….??? One can only hope.
Well I finally got Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection in the mail and I love the hell out of it. The updated graphics and visuals are amazing. The translation and dialogue are updated and much easier to understand. I 100% recommend any RPG fan, especially old skool RPG fan to pick this game up for the PSP.
Head past the break to see some more screens! READ MORE

In the game Duke’s original enemy Proton is back and he is launching a full out attack on earth, and of course it’s up to Duke to stop him. Kick some alien ass and save the babes. The usual. READ MORE
Holy shit, it’s been 11 years since Parasite Eve 2 was released. Over a decade later, you can now pick up The Third Birthday on the PSP. Below you can check out the launch trailer for the game, which should get you as pumped as I am for it. Maybe not. Enjoy!
Now that the picture below grabbed your attention, I can get down to the nerdy end of things. The gaming industry in 2010 brought in somewhere over 33 billion dollars, and that is with sales of around 3.2 billion games. Those are amazing numbers to see in such a terrible economy. It goes to show us gamers the industry is not going to slow down for anyone ever.
If you head past the break you can see the 33 Billion broken down by console, dlc, android, etc. READ MORE
It’s no secret. Aya Brea is one of my many many wives. It is also no secret that I am absolutely jazzed for The 3rd Birthday. Did I mention that the kick ass and beautiful Yvonne Strahovski from the awesome TV show ‘Chuck’ is doing the voice of Aya? Yeah, that’s right. In the gameplay below you can kind of get a feel for how exactly the fighting will go in the game. It almost looks Gears Of War’ish. I can get behind that.
Check out a whopping SIXTY FIVE screen shots past the break, and keep your eyes peeled for The 3rd Birthday’s release the 29th of this month exclusively for the PSP. READ MORE

I bought this ROM program for my G2 fully loaded with just about every Super Nintendo game ever. So I started playing Final Fantasy II (IV in Japan) with the ROM program on my phone. Then I found out about FF IV: The Complete Collection and I nearly shit. Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection is being released on the PSP sometime this spring in Europe and other PAL territories.
It will consist of a totally remade and upgraded Final Fantasy II (IV in Japan), and released only for Wiiware Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, which continues FFIV years after. Screens past the break. READ MORE
Back when my friend Ryan and I were just wee little lads, we used to sit around and play video games. And that was about it. Well, Ryan’s mom had bought him Final Fantasy II (IV in Japan) thinking it was a new Zelda game. She was wrong, but her mistake ended up changing our lives forever. We played that game. We played the hell out of it. Together. You could each use a controller during battles and you each had full control over all characters. So we split up the characters and played.
Being our 1st RPG, it pulled us into the Roll Playing Game world and never let go. From just about every Final Fantasy game, to Chrono Trigger, Secret Of Mana, Secret Of Evermore, Earthbound, we didn’t stop. Well, 20 some odd years later, here we are again. Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection is being released on the PSP sometime this spring in Europe and other PAL territories. If this means I’m going to have to buy it and have it shipped to the U.S., I don’t really care. I just WANT IT NOW. More past the break. READ MORE
Parasite Eve 3, The Third Birthday. Im pumped for it. It’s going to be the reason I dust off my PSP. But now, even better, Yvonne Strahovski (pictured below) will be voicing main character Aya Brea. Who is Yvonne Strahovski you ask? Well if you’ve ever seen the show Chuck on NBC, you’d know exactly who she is. An ass kicking smokin’ hot secret agent. Also, I totally recommend you watch Chuck if you haven’t.
Supernatural fans (such as my sister who is OBSESSED) will be happy to see that main character Jensen Ackles will be voicing Kyle Madigan in the game. More info past the break, and information on the Twisted special edition. READ MORE
Hint hint, you could be looking at a potential future video game vixen. How about a little Christmas cheer? I know, you have other things on your mind. Like all the presents you got, and are playing, or Kat from Halo Reach, but why don’t you relax, and head past the break.
I’ve said it before, but The Third Birthday will be the reason I dust off my PSP. I’m a big fan of the series, and while I am disappointed it is on the PSP I’m just glad that it’s back. Hopefully it does well and they will bump a 4th game into 360/PS3 territory.
In the 3rd installment of the series Aya Brea is the only one who can save New York from creatures known as The Twisted. The game is to release in North America the 1st quarter of next year on the PSP. Lots of new screens past the break. READ MORE
Since Batman Arkham Asylum was such a success, more and more badass superheroes videogames are coming forth. With good reason. Batman proved that great super hero games could be made. So why not run down the list and start cranking them out? The game is being made for the 5 major non PC non cell phone systems so just about everyone will be able to get their hands it.
The game story is being written by Eisner Award-winning writer and lead Thor comic book author Matt Fraction. The game will also be voiced by Chris Hemsworth (Thor the upcoming movie, George Kirk in 2009′s Star Trek) and Tom Hiddleston (a number of TV movies). Screens past the break. No release is yet known. There is one game that is going to make me pull my PSP out of the closet and dust it off. It’s The 3rd Birthday, the 3rd game in the Parasite Eve series. Aya Brea has been kicking ass for over 10 years and it’s about time we got to see her back in action.
The 3rd Birthday will be out March 31st 2011 for the PSP only. READ MORE
Tokyo Game Show is here and so far it’s the most exciting gaming event of the year, for horror fans at least. The most exciting news, at least for me, was the unveiling of the collaborative effort between Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, No More Heroes creator Suda51, and Silent Hill composer/producer Akira Yamaoka: the new action horror project, officially dubbed Shadows of the Damned.
But that’s certainly not it, there’s also been news on Resident Evil 6, Dead Space 2 multiplayer details, the exciting reveal of Project Dark by the guys who made the amazing Demon’s Souls, a Devil May Cry reboot, and two limb-flailing horror games for the Kinect. READ MORE
Back in April I let loose my inner fanboy and talked all crazy like about an unannounced multi-platform action/horror game that’s (not-so) secretly in development by some of the most talented designers in the industry. I predicted it could “redefine horror”, despite knowing little about the title, and then predicted we would see it at E3. Well, the latter prediction turned out to be wrong but the former is still entirely possible, and when the Tokyo Game Show rolls around next month we’ll know a little more about the game as it will be announced at the event.
We’re nearing the end of the summer games drought, with some major releases preparing to hit shelves, and our consoles, next month. Combine that with TGS and September is looking pretty great right now. So to tide you over, why don’t you check out the biggest horror headlines, including some updates on Dead Space 2, a Halloween RPG, Left 4 Dead 2’s new DLC, and some nightmare-inducing Pokemon. Hopefully all this will help numb the pain that was left after Doom 4 failed to show its beautiful face at QuakeCon earlier this month. READ MORE
The Trials Of St. Lucia is a pretty huge DLC pack for Dante’s Inferno. It’s going to include a trials game editor; so you can spend countless hours (like I have in Halo 3 forge mode) putting together trial after trial to play.
You will also be able to take on the role of St. Lucia herself, and work together with a friend cooperatively to make it through the trials together. Past the break for more. READ MORE
