11 Reasons You Should Have Played ‘Silent Hill: Origins’

Welcome to Games You Should Have Played. Where I attempt to shame you for not playing specific video games. Numbers don’t lie. Since the release of the original Silent Hill, the games have struggled to raise sales as the years have gone by. It’s a damn shame because it’s a great series. And for the most part each game has come with a solid story, great atmosphere, and nightmarish creatures. A lot of fans of the franchise have gotten more and more harsh towards each new game in the series, as Konami and the random developers attempt to bring the game into the future while retaining deep roots. Past the break I hope to shame you into playing Silent Hill: Origins if you haven’t. Enjoy!

Looks Like Parasite Eve II Is Returning As A PS1 Classic

It took a decade for a new Parasite Eve game to come out, but when The Third Birthday finally released last December it didn’t necessarily live up to the years of hype and expectations. If you felt a little let down then this news might tickle your fancy as the ESRB recently rated Parasite Eve II for the PS3 and PSP. It looks like it will soon join the original game, which became a PS1 Classic last February.

1 Looks Like Parasite Eve II Is Returning As A PS1 Classic

No word yet on when we can expect it but hopefully the game will release soon so they can get to work on the inevitable remastered versions of the first two. Now that’s something that I’d be interested in, no more of this untouched re-release nonsense. READ MORE

Now that the picture below grabbed your attention, I can get down to the nerdy end of things. The gaming industry in 2010 brought in somewhere over 33 billion dollars, and that is with sales of around 3.2 billion games. Those are amazing numbers to see in such a terrible economy. It goes to show us gamers the industry is not going to slow down for anyone ever.

My Childhood Is Being Brought Back To Life With Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection

Back when my friend Ryan and I were just wee little lads, we used to sit around and play video games. And that was about it. Well, Ryan’s mom had bought him Final Fantasy II (IV in Japan) thinking it was a new Zelda game. She was wrong, but her mistake ended up changing our lives forever. We played that game. We played the hell out of it. Together. You could each use a controller during battles and you each had full control over all characters. So we split up the characters and played.

Being our 1st RPG, it pulled us into the Roll Playing Game world and never let go. From just about every Final Fantasy game, to Chrono Trigger, Secret Of Mana, Secret Of Evermore, Earthbound, we didn’t stop. Well, 20 some odd years later, here we are again. Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection is being released on the PSP sometime this spring in Europe and other PAL territories. If this means I’m going to have to buy it and have it shipped to the U.S., I don’t really care. I just WANT IT NOW. More past the break. READ MORE

There’s Nothing Like Hot Girls Voicing Hot Girls

Parasite Eve 3, The Third Birthday. Im pumped for it. It’s going to be the reason I dust off my PSP. But now, even better, Yvonne Strahovski (pictured below) will be voicing main character Aya Brea. Who is Yvonne Strahovski you ask? Well if you’ve ever seen the show Chuck on NBC, you’d know exactly who she is. An ass kicking smokin’ hot secret agent. Also, I totally recommend you watch Chuck if you haven’t.

Headlines in Horror: Dead Space 2 Multiplayer, Resident Evil 6, DMC, Project Dark, and MUCH More!

Tokyo Game Show is here and so far it’s the most exciting gaming event of the year, for horror fans at least. The most exciting news, at least for me, was the unveiling of the collaborative effort between Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami, No More Heroes creator Suda51, and Silent Hill composer/producer Akira Yamaoka: the new action horror project, officially dubbed Shadows of the Damned.

Headlines In Horror: Effin’ Scary Pokemon, a Halloween RPG, & a HUGE Horror Announcement at TGS!

Back in April I let loose my inner fanboy and talked all crazy like about an unannounced multi-platform action/horror game that’s (not-so) secretly in development by some of the most talented designers in the industry. I predicted it could “redefine horror”, despite knowing little about the title, and then predicted we would see it at E3. Well, the latter prediction turned out to be wrong but the former is still entirely possible, and when the Tokyo Game Show rolls around next month we’ll know a little more about the game as it will be announced at the event.

pokebanner Headlines In Horror: Effin’ Scary Pokemon, a Halloween RPG, & a HUGE Horror Announcement at TGS!

Combine that with TGS and September is looking pretty great right now. So to tide you over, why don’t you check out the biggest horror headlines, including some updates on Dead Space 2, a Halloween RPG, Left 4 Dead 2’s new DLC, and some nightmare-inducing Pokemon. Hopefully all this will help numb the pain that was left after Doom 4 failed to show its beautiful face at QuakeCon earlier this month. READ MORE
