The Loft (remake)

In a very Hitchcockian plot, the pic follows five married friends who share a loft where each of them bring their mistresses. When the body of an unknown woman is found in the loft, they begin to suspect one another of murder.

Trailer For Dark Castle’s Hitchcockian Thriller ‘Loft’

With a hint of Very Bad Things and a dash of Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope, Joel Silver’s Dark Castle Entertainment banner recently acquired the infidelity thriller Loft from Anonymous Content and Belgian banner Woestijnvis. It has yet to be determined whether the film will be released through Warner Bros., where Dark Castle is currently based, or Universal, where Silver just inked a 12-picture distribution deal.

The Erik Van Looy-directed pic is an English-language remake of his own 2008 Belgian film. “The edgy indie follows five married friends who share a loft where each brings his mistress. When the dead body of an unknown woman is found there, they begin to suspect one another of murder.

TV: ABC Moves Into “666 Park Avenue” On September 30th

We knew that ABC’s sexy genre thriller “666 Park Avenue”, which will air at 10:00 PM on Sundays. And now we know which Sunday it starts – September 30th. That’s when we’ll find out if this show has some true horror bona-fides (not likely) or is full of hot air (likely). I’m not hating – I’m just doing the math on the amount of decent network shows these days (their quality seems to be dipping as cable’s quality rises).

At the ominous address of 666 Park Avenue, anything you desire can be yours. Everyone has needs, desires, and ambition. For the residents of The Drake, these will all be met, courtesy of the building’s mysterious owner, Gavin Doran (Terry O’Quinn). But every Faustian contract comes with a price. When Jane Van Veen (Rachael Taylor) and Henry Martin (Dave Annable), an idealistic young couple from the Midwest, are offered the opportunity to manage the historic building, they not only fall prey to the machinations of Doran and his mysterious wife, Olivia (Vanessa Williams), but unwittingly begin to experience the shadowy, supernatural forces within the building that imprison and endanger the lives of the residents inside. Sexy, seductive, and inviting, The Drake maintains a dark hold over all of its residents, tempting them through their ambitions and desires, in this chilling new drama that’s home to an epic struggle of good versus evil.

[Review] ‘The Darkest Hour’ Feels Like a Slideshow Of Your Parents’ Summer Tour

darkesthournew121211 [Review] The Darkest Hour Feels Like a Slideshow Of Your Parents Summer Tour

Not screened for critics and slid into a bizarre Sunday release slot, Ryan Daley hit the local cinema to check out Summit Entertainment’s The Darkest Hour, the Chris Gorak-directed alien invasion pic that follows five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack.

While the lush 3D location shots of a desolate Moscow are admittedly stunning, the forgettable characters and paint-by-the-numbers plot threaten to burn the entire film out of your brain mere seconds after you’ve left the theater,” says Daley before joking, “Remove the sporadic alien attacks and ‘The Darkest Hour‘ suddenly feels like a Sunday night slideshow of your parents’ summer tour of the Motherland.”

Revisit a Look at ‘The Darkest Hour’ Aliens

Revisit a Look at The Darkest Hour Aliens

*Originally posted right here on Bloody back in November, other horror sites are speaking as if this was just discovered. So we bumped the story back up top so you can see the aliens again…

Since at the time Summit Entertainment has only released one official image from the film, I decided to revisit the trailer for The Darkest Hour and do a little screen-grabbing. In doing so I stumbled across something they may or may not want you to see.

Within this article you’ll find three grabs from the official trailer that clearly depicts the alien creatures in the Chris Gorak-directed sci-fi horror pic opening on Christmas Day. It looks a little CGI intense, yet I wonder if the FX work was even complete during the cut of this trailer… who knows? Your thoughts below!

Two New Clips For ‘The Darkest Hour 3D’ Don’t Add Much To The Trailer

With a Christmas Day release date looming, Summit Entertainment’s The Darkest Hour (set report part 1, part 2), is doing everything it can to kick things into awareness overdrive.

While I love the cast, I’m just not hyped up about this one yet. These clips straddle the same kind of pleasantly middle of the road territory as the trailer. So even though I wouldn’t mind seeing it, I’m not chomping at the bit just yet.

Aliens Invade for Electricity in Second ‘Darkest Hour’ Trailer, Stupid Billboards Litter City

darkeststills112211 Aliens Invade for Electricity in Second Darkest Hour Trailer, Stupid Billboards Litter City

I’m highly concerned about Summit Entertainment’s The Darkest Hour (set report part 1, part 2), which invades theaters this Christmas. While both the first trailer and the new one embedded inside are pretty impressive, other aspects of the campaign are downright shocking. There are billboards all over the Los Angeles area that exclaim “Survive the Holidays” in giant font, while below it you’ll be lucky to catch the title while driving 25+MPH. Even worse is that the imagery behind the text is absolutely impossible to see. It literally looks like the city is plastered with billboards for a movie called Survive the Holidays. Is it like this across the country?

I’m going to see it because I love Gorak’s Right at Your Door, and am a fan of both Thirlby and Hirsch. But what does the rest of American think? I’d be incredibly concerned if I were Summit. READ MORE
