IFC Midnight acquired North American rights to Cinipix’s action/thriller Raze, directed by Josh Waller, Deadline writes.
The film, written by Robert Beaucage, stars Zoe Bell, Rachel Nichols, Tracie Thoms and Sherilyn Fenn, and made its world premiere at last month’s Tribeca Film Festival.
“Raze follows Sabrina, a woman who is mysteriously abducted and held captive in an underground lair, where she is forced to do battle with other innocents for the amusement of unseen spectators. Each of these reluctant warriors has something to lose, but only one will remain when the game is done.”
It’s a pretty solid little flick that’s sort of like Bloodsport without the creative characters. I think you guys will enjoy the brutality of it. READ MORE

We’ve learned of a new Canadian horror thriller that’s currently in post-production.
Entitled Becoming, Omar Naim directs, and Justin Bartha (The Hangover) and Rachel Nichols (P2, Red Eye), pictured above, stars.
“‘Becoming’ is a dramatic supernatural thriller about Alex and Lisa, an ordinary couple who come face to face with an ancient evil. While on a road trip retracing family roots, Alex is gradually taken over by a malevolent entity, which slowly begins to replace his identity piece by piece. Though he still looks like the man she loves, this new Alex has dark and disturbing plans for Lisa, and will use her trust and love against her at every turn. By combining the naturalism of ‘Blue Valentine’ with the tension of ‘The Shining,’ ‘Becoming’ forges a new path for psychological horror.” READ MORE

Rachel Nichols (pictured inside; Star Trek, P2, The Amityville Horror, Conan The Barbarian) is in talks to join director Tom Holland’s (Fright Night 1985, Child’s Play) The 10 O’Clock People, Holland’s latest Stephen King adaptation. If she signs the dotted line, she’ll be joining Justin Long who has already been cast as the lead of Brandon Pearson. Per THR, “Rachel Nichols is in negotiations to join Justin Long in Stephen King’s The Ten O’Clock People. Nichols would play a woman who, like the man, can see a horrible aspect of reality, hidden in plain sight.”
King’s “The Ten O’clock People” was a short story published in 1993 as part of his “Nightmares and Dreamscapes” collection (pictured above). “The story follows Brandon Pearson, who in trying to kick his smoking habit uncovers a frightening aspect of reality, he plans to extinguish through extreme measures.” Holland has remarked that “This film will be a modernization of the original short story, a paranoid suspense piece.”
The Ten O’Clock People will film this summer and be produced by Making Ten O’Clock Productions and Holland’s Dead Rabbit Films. READ MORE
