[Announcement] March Is ‘Evil Dead’ Month On Bloody-Disgusting!!!

We’ve been planning this for a while now and the entire Bloody-Disgusting team is incredibly excited to announce that March is EVIL DEAD MONTH here at the site! We know most of you are incredibly stoked for the upcoming remake from director Fede Alvarez (and producers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell), and so are we – it looks amazing! We plan on having a review when it plays next week at SXSW a full month ahead of its April 5th release date – along with exclusive interviews with the cast and crew – in addition to all of the other insanely cool stuff we have planned.

But Evil Dead Month isn’t just just about the remake. In fact, I’d wager that most of the material you’re going to see here during the next month will focus on the original films (Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 and Army Of Darkness). As a team we’ll be talking about our favorite moments from them, why they work, what their key differences are and the overarching mythology of the franchise. Not only that, but you’ll be getting plenty of [Random Cool] installments featuring long forgotten artifacts from the Evil Dead era of the 80′s. Not enough for you? How about revisits to the old video games and soundtracks? Yeah, we’re doing everything.

Also, we’ll be running a “Deadite Of The Day” contest. We’ll make a more formal post in the coming weeks with all of the rules and regulations, but get your fan art, pictures of your Evil Dead trophies or even original YouTube videos ready. Whatever makes you a true deadite, really. We’ll feature a winner every weekday from March 25th – April 7th.

In the meantime, get ready for all of your Evil Dead needs to be met. The first piece drops in just a few minutes!

[Random Cool] An Incredible Look Behind-the-Scenes Of ‘Wolf’

I just had my mind blown, thanks to effects house studioADI.

The company, who releases all sorts of awesome never-before-seen footage from behind the scenes of older genre films, has shared an astounding piece of work from Mike Nichols’ 1994 Wolf, which starred Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer.

At ADI we pride ourselves on our realistic eye mechanisms. Even at their most basic they can get pretty complex,” says ADI. “Director Mike Nichols wanted a sustained close-up on a wolf’s eyes for the movie WOLF. Here’s how we approached the challenge: pupil dilation.

Below is the video featuring said dialation, which is literally mind blowing. READ MORE

[Random Cool] Beauty Shop Scare Echos Hilarious Elevator Prank

Scaring people and hosting the video on YouTube is all the rage – and the last time we took our sweet time everyone on the planet scooped us on the infamous “elevator prank.”

Now, Jonny B. caught wind of the next big freakout, “Beauty Shop Scare,” and we’re rushing to get it to you first.

In the video, a hidden camera prank scares the living hell out of unsuspecting customers at a beauty shop. What happens when the mirror is replaced with a 2 way mirror and a possessed girl is placed behind it? When customers check themselves out in the mirror, the scary girl’s image appears on top of their reflection. This video features some of the best reactions.

It’s unclear if this is a top secret viral for CBS’ The Last Exorcism Part II or not, but if it is, a standing ovation is in order. READ MORE

[Random Cool] Collect Evil Japanese Spirits In First “Shuonan” Collectibles Line!

After a frustrating bout with the press release I nearly just ignored this story, but these resin statues out of Japan are just too cool to ignore.

Skeleton Key Figures is a production house specializing in the creation of highly detailed action figures and collectable statues based in Osaka, Japan. Established in 2011, they aim to produce premium quality limited edition figures. All of their figures are resin cast and hand painted in Japan.

Shuonan is their forthcoming series of five “Yurei” or Japanese ghosts. Each of the five figures is based upon a traditional Japanese ghost story. The ghosts will only be available in a strictly limited edition of 250. All figures come in with a large detailed base and a thorough explanation of the ghost story in both English and Japanese.

Japanese ghosts, or Yurei, are the restless souls of the departed that are unable to find peace in the hereafter. They linger on in this realm, driven by powerful emotions; such as rage, sorrow, or devotion. Yurei are often malevolent spirits, seeking vengeance on those that wronged them in their mortal life. Yurei typically appear in the hot months of summer, especially around Obon; the Japanese festival of the dead. “Shuonan” refers to a sactuary for sprits where malice can be paid back to their enemies.

Check out the first 5 statues below. READ MORE

[OMFG] Jamaican High School Closed After “Demonic Possession”

Some hilarious news was just sent to us by “Peter Pumpkin Eater” who caught wind of an article in the Jamaican Star that alleges that classes ended prematurely at a Corporate Area high school last Thursday following reports that there were demons at the institution, one of which possessed a female student.

“The demon revealed himself and discouraged other students from praying for the possessed girl warning them that if they disobeyed he would leave the girl’s body and enter theirs instead,” the magazine reported.

“It was also understood that fear hung over the institution forcing the school’s administration to seek the assistance of a special prayer team that specialises in demon possession. The prayer team is from a nearby church. When the team arrived, they were reportedly greeted by a group of Baptist pastors who were eager to lend their assistance to rid the school of the demons. Subsequently, the school’s administration summoned students to a general prayer assembly feeling confident that the scare had ended but they were in for a surprise.

The pastors said dem feel the evil spirit all over the school so they called the school population to an assembly. In the middle of assembly, suddenly out of the ceiling, a bird’s head, cut off from the bird, drop down inna the middle of the assembly. It was chaos after that,‘ a source who witnessed the incident said.

The school’s vice-principal was reluctant to elaborate on what transpired at the school on the day of the incident and downplayed it as something minor. ‘That’s something at the school. I’m not going to disclose what took place. Whatever took place was not something drastic. Whoever told you should have given all the details,‘ she said.”

Why wasn’t my school this interesting?!

[Random Cool] Want To Own The Original ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ House?!

According to THR, the infamous house where Freddy Krueger haunted dreams in 1984’s A Nightmare on Elm Street is now for sale.

Says the site, reporting from various other outlets, the three-bedroom, 3.25-bath home in West Hollywood was listed last week for $2.1 million. Although the 2,700-square-foot interior (which was not used in the movie) was extensively renovated in 2006, the facade — which also appeared in Nightmare’s first sequel, Freddy’s Revenge (1985), as well as the series’ seventh installment, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994) — remains recognizable to horror fans.

The property, built in 1919, also includes a swimming pool and a one-bedroom, one-bath guest house in the rear. Rodeo Realty is handling the listing.

KICKSTART THIS.

[Original] A Gamer’s Guide To Zombies!

If I had to choose two things I love the most, I’d probably pick zombies and pretty pictures. Give me a zombie picture book and I am in heaven. Lately, I’ve found myself thinking about what would happen if I were to combine my two loves, so eventually I decided to answer that burning question. After I did some research and spent a night slaving away over a hot keyboard, because a few hours of heavy Photoshoppery turns my laptop into a scalding hot demon machine that incinerates flesh while roaring like a freight train — yeah, I’m in the market for a new computer — and Voilà! I had myself a fancy (read: gritty, bloody) infographic.

[Random Cool] A Graphic Of Every Kill In The ‘Texas Chainsaw’ Universe!!

While the powers that be work on getting the sequel to Texas Chainsaw 3D (review) off the ground – something they may be rethinking after its 80% drop this weekend – Andrew Barr over at the National Post has constructed a nifty little graphic breaking down every kill in the Leatherface universe. I “could” say canon, but it’s such a narratively disjointed place that it wouldn’t be appropriate.

These graphs have become increasingly popular, but face it – they’re no less fun to look at. Head inside to check it out! READ MORE

[Random Cool] Quentin Tarantino Talks About The ‘Prometheus’ “Space Cobra”

While out promoting his awesome (but not quite as awesome as Inglourious Basterds) Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino stopped by the Craig Ferguson show. One thing lead to another and they got on the topic of Prometheus.

Now, I liked Prometheus (so did Tarantino as it turns out), but you have to admit there are a ton of character inconsistencies in the film. Here, Tarantino speaks out against one of the most egregious and oft-cited moments. He doesn’t exactly say anything new, but he adds a certain Tarantino flair to the whole thing that kind of makes it worthwhile.

Head inside to check it out. Prometheus talk begins at around 4:45. READ MORE

[Random Cool] Jam To A ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ Trailer Remix!

YouTube user relmvision created an absolutely awesome remix of the trailer for Texas Chainsaw 3D, the sequel which continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace.

In theaters January 4, 2013, the slasher is being directed by John Luessenhop from a screenplay by Adam Marcus, Debra Sullivan and Kirsten Elms. Dan Yeager, John Dugan, Bill Moseley, Alexandra Daddario, Sue Rock, Tania Raymonde, Scott Eastwood, Gunnar Hansen, Tobe Hooper, Paul Rae, Keram Malicki-Sánchez, Ritchie Montgomery, Trey Songz, Marilyn Burns, Shaun Sipos, Thom Barry and Richard Riehle star. It’s been rated “R” by the MPAA for “strong, grisly violence and language throughout.

‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ picks up decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre seen in Tobe Hooper’s ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.’ In it, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars.READ MORE

[Random Cool?] There’s A ‘Beetlejuice’ Museum In New York…

Beetlemania lives — inside a cramped studio apartment in Hell’s Kitchen, jokes the NY Daily News. The tight quarters house the city’s smallest and silliest museum, a kitschy conglomeration of collectibles that breathes new life into its famously undead muse: Beetlejuice.

It’s so much fun!” says curator/tenant Bruce Christensen to the mag, whose fascination with the seedy movie character memorably played by Michael Keaton dates back 15 years. “This is definitely one of the top 10 attractions in New York City.

Christensen’s inspiration for the unique assortment of tiny plastic toys, bobblehead dolls, collectible cards and other Beeetle-juicy items came early one morning, as he described in the following video, where he found a toy in a bargain box. The cartoon was what revived his love for the franchise: “For years, I left the TV on when I went to bed,” he explains during a spin around the museum. “One day I woke up and the cartoon was on, and I just loved it.

Below we’ve added a video, while you can read more about the museum by clicking the above link. READ MORE
