Check Out The ‘Resident Evil 6′ E3 Demo, This Time With Sound!

Capcom has released a few new gameplay videos for Resident Evil 6 and this time around the in-game sounds haven’t been muted. The videos show off more of Leon’s story, the campaign Capcom seems to be pushing the hardest so as to get their horror fans back–tell me, is it working?. While it’s comprised entirely of the footage shown off at E3 last week, being able to hear what’s going on sure is nice. Check them out after the jump and tell me, now that we’ve seen much of what Resident Evil 6 has to offer, in your opinion, has Capcom succeeded in bringing the series closer to its roots?

[Podcast] ‘Aural Pleasures’ Episode 12, The Music Of E3

In this edition of Aural Pleasures, Adam and Jonny keep things nice and short. The dynamic duo begin by chatting about a woman in South Korea who got more than she asked for whilst eating squid (hint: babies…tons of ‘em). Then they move onto E3 and the discuss the games presented there and dwell upon what the soundtracks might sound like, focusing on “Beyond Two Souls,” “Dead Space 3,” and “Resident Evil 6.” The boys then cap it all off, as usual, with some recommendations.

[Podcast] ‘Dead Pixels’ Episode 41 Heads To E3

Adam and TJ are back! Again! And they’re here to stay. (We know you missed their sexy sexy voices.) This weeks episode of Dead Pixels is almost all about this year’s E3 convention.

“Resident Evil 6,” “Dead Space 3″ and much, much more are discussed. Adam is left feeling unfulfilled about the entire convention, while TJ feels everything was quite good. (Fight!) But, as usual, the boys get sidetracked and start talking about TV and movies, and Adam drops a couple spoilers as it’s becoming one of his favorite past times. (What a dick.)

You can enjoy the latest “Dead Pixels” after the break, or you can subscribe via iTunes by searching “Bloody Disgusting.” READ MORE

E3 2012: Special ‘Resident Evil 6′ Bundles Confirmed, But The Included Extras Are Digital

I’ve got some good news and some bad news, which would you like first? The good is a two-parter, if that affects your decision at all. Oh, you want the good? Well okay then. For starters, you’re a beautiful person. Also, remember those Resident Evil 6 bundles Amazon outed earlier this week? Those were confirmed today, but that’s where the bad news comes in, as all those delicious extras they offer are digital. It’s disappointing, but not all that surprising. Is anyone still interested in either bundle, or is the digital-only extras a deal breaker?

E3 2012: Amazon Outs Special ‘Resident Evil 6′ Bundles

Two Resident Evil 6 bundles have been outed by online retailer Amazon–one for the PS3 and another for the Xbox 360–that include a variety of Resident Evil related bonuses for those who look at Resident Evil 6 and scoff at its utter lack of content. The first is the Resident Evil Anthology for the PS3, which brings with it Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil Director’s Cut, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4 HD and the Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition. The second is the Resident Evil Archives for the Xbox 360 and it will include Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil 4 HD, Code Veronica HD, Resident Evil 5′s Gold Edition and the CGI film Resident Evil: Degeneration. Looks like Xbox 360 owners got the short end of that severed limb, but both are still fantastic deals for their $89.99 asking price. Anyone interested in either of these delicious bundles?

E3 2012: Feast Your Eyes On Some Footage From Each Of The Three ‘Resident Evil 6′ Campaigns

Not quite sure what you’re going to get with Resident Evil 6? That’s understandable, seeing as it’s been fairly nonsensical so far. For the unaware, there are three campaigns starring Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jake Muller, and their respective partners. They’re separate, but at the same time they’re woven together, so at certain points the main characters will meet each other and say hi, maybe go out for a coffee, then return to kicking mountains of ass. Each story plays wildly different from the next and will be roughly the length of the campaign in Resident Evil 5 (that took roughly 4-5 hours assuming you spent a lot of time marveling at the scenery). Check out some gameplay footage from each of the three stories after the jump.

E3 2012: There Sure Is A Lot Going On In This ‘Resident Evil 6′ Trailer

With each new trailer I see for Resident Evil 6 I find it just a little more difficult to maintain my already very loose grasp on the game’s plot. I suppose it’s par for the course when you have three separate campaigns with their own characters and stories that are woven together, crossing over and under one another in a delicate balance of characters, plots, stories and backstories. There’s also the newly dubbed Neo-Umbrella, which could be the name of the terrorist organization that’s causing such a ruckus, but seriously–less quick cuts and maybe could you also slow things down for those of us who are currently eating your dust as you speed away on your fancy, rooftop-jumping motorcycle, Capcom? I’m not asking much, just a 20 to 30 minute video describing in detail, and preferably very slowly, just what the fuck is going on. Resident Evil 6 is a busy game, but if busy makes your joystick happy you should check it out after the break.

Capcom Is Still Trying To Make Resident Evil 6 “A Horror Experience”

There are many Resident Evil fans who aren’t very happy with the path Capcom has taken with the last two games. Resident Evil 4 was arguably one of the best games in the series, but it also took them into the explosive realm of action horror, away from the puzzle-based survival horror the series was originally known for. Resident Evil 5 took this even further, essentially removing all of the remaining scares and atmosphere in favor of more explosions, gunfights, and co-op. It also happens to be the best selling Resident Evil game of all time. Capcom is in a difficult situation–on one hand, they have the fans that have stuck with the series since the beginning who feel like the series has changed too much. Then there’s the fact that Capcom needs to make money, and to do that they need to cater to the wider market, and sadly, the survival horror audience just isn’t big enough anymore. Thankfully, they’re fully aware of this, and they seem to be trying their best to please everyone. UK based X360 Magazine recently had the chance to interview executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi and director Yoshiaki Hirabayashi about the upcoming Resident Evil 6 to find out what they’re doing to make the game appeal more to the horror audience. More after the jump.

Dead Pixels Predicts What We’ll See At E3 2012

Continuing our annual tradition of using our seemingly endless knowledge of the gaming industry to predict what will happen at the biggest gaming event of the year, we have again donned our mystic robes and whipped out our big crystal balls. Also, my crystals balls are way bigger than TJ’s, just in case anyone was wondering about that. So if you’re one of the unlucky many that won’t be attending E3 this year, I suggest you head past the break for much prophesying and soothsayery. READ MORE

Pre-order Resident Evil 6 For Exclusive Mercenaries Maps

I like me some Mercenaries. I kicked an unruly amount of non-zombie ass in Resident Evil 4′s Mercenaries mode, snapping necks as H.U.N.K. or spin-butter-fly-cartwheel kicking them in the face as Ada Wong. The mode reappeared in RE5, though for some reason I didn’t play it nearly as much the second time around. Obviously, it’s a very popular feature, as it will come with Resident Evil 6 and bring with it all new maps, enemies, and characters to whoop ass with. If you’re the pre-ordering type, you’ll have even more maps to shed J’avo blood on. Check them out after the break! READ MORE

The $1,300 Resident Evil 6 Premium Edition Comes With Leon’s Jacket, But Really, Can You Put A Price On Style?

Apparently you can, because this brings with it one of the most outrageous price tags I’ve seen on a collector’s edition. You’ll need to drop 105,000 Yen, or $1,300 on the Resident Evil 6 Premium Edition, but it’ll come with Leon’s jacket, and that’s easily worth donating a few unnecessary body parts to your local black market. Now, this isn’t the fur-lined jacket he wore — fabulously, I might add — in Resident Evil 4.. Now Leon’s sporting a badass biker jacket, a jacket that instantly transforms its wearer into the type of man the president’s daughter swoons over, the type of man who cuts down hundreds of zombies without loosening a single hair from his altar boy haircut, the type of man who has a vast arsenal of witty one-liners cocked and ready for use at all times. The collection also includes four exclusive tablet covers, featuring Chris, Leon, Jake Muller (Wesker’s son), and a secret character.

Oh, and you’ll also get the game, but really, who cares about that? You’ll be far too busy basking in the warm glow of your friends’ admiration to actually play the game. If you feel like wasting a ton of money on something you could buy pretty much anywhere, I suggest you find something better to spend it on. Like anything. Seriously, anything. READ MORE

Resident Evil 6 Infects Captivate ’12 With A New Trailer And Release Date

You know what just happened? A lot of things happened, and most of them occurred at Capcom’s annual Captivate event, where we were given a ton of delicious announcements. First up is Resident Evil 6, a little-known indie game from an unproven studio, due out this year. Actually, I just lied right there. This game is Capcom’s biggest project yet, and it promises more of the horror and zombies fans have wanted from the series along with even more action, and multiple cooperative campaigns.

Usually when you read that a highly anticipated game is getting a new release date that news is usually turns out to be a bad thing. Thankfully, Capcom’s actually pushed up the release date for Resident Evil 6 and given us a bunch of screenshots and a brand new trailer that answers a ton of questions. Head past the break for all three! READ MORE

Sounds Like Resident Evil 6 Is Going To Be A Little Chatty

Have you ever watched a movie or played a video game and just as the bad guy’s about to win they just keep talking until they buy enough time for the good guy’s reinforcements to arrive? Of course you have, because that happens all the time. I bring this up because some intriguing new info could increase the chances of this happening in Resident Evil 6. According to a Dengeki PlayStation magazine leak, there will be a “seamless” conversation system that adapts to the situation.

1 Sounds Like Resident Evil 6 Is Going To Be A Little Chatty

I’m not picturing anything along the lines of say, Mass Effect 3, but this is a definite sign that Capcom wants to take the series to the next level. I’d be excited about this, but since the Resident Evil series has never excelled in the areas of dialogue and voice work, I’m going to go ahead and reserve my excitement for when we see this in action. If the writing is anything like Resident Evils 1-5 or any of the spinoffs, I’m not sure I want more dialogue. READ MORE

Capcom Officially Unveils Some Of The Characters, Enemies, & Setting of Resident Evil 6

I say officially unveiled, because much of this info is stuff we already know from the debut trailer, which I painstakingly analyzed and various press conferences held afterward. It’s still nice to get an official confirmation, right? Especially since this is the sixth installment in what is very likely to be the biggest Resident Evil game yet. What I’m most happy about is the return of Ingrid Hunnigan, because I hope she won’t be the only returning side character from Resident Evil 4 (I’m looking at you, Merchant.)

Our Premature Evaluation of Resident Evil 6

It finally happened. Resident Evil 6 was announced last month, sending fans of the series in a frenzy. Some are against it, saying it still isn’t true to the series’ survival horror roots, while others praise the long awaited return of zombies. Capcom has said the upcoming game will have a bigger focus on horror, while also telling us they’re focusing more on action so they can try and get some of Call of Duty’s tens of millions of fans. That last part is particularly terrifying for most fans of the franchise, but whether it means old school Resident Evil has gone the way of the Dodo is something we won’t know until the game releases this November.

RE6 Our Premature Evaluation of Resident Evil 6

So where do TJ and I fall in all this? Do we think this game will rock, and everyone who says otherwise can go suck a long, veiny zombie arm? What? You thought I was going to say something else? Get your mind out of the gutter and read on for our thoughts on whether or not we think this is going to be the Resident Evil fans have been asking for. READ MORE

Dragon’s Dogma Will Come Packed With A Resident Evil 6 Demo

Resident Evil 6 might be the Capcom title that’s on everyone’s mind right now, but we shouldn’t forget about their upcoming foray into the open-world fantasy RPG market with Dragon’s Dogma. The game looks epic, and now Resident Evil fans have a big reason to check it out when Dragon’s Dogma releases on May 22 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, because it’ll come packed with the demo for Resident Evil 6.

Come May, you’ll have a chance to actually play the game and decide for yourself. Resident Evil 6 releases on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 20, with the PC version following sometime later. Resident Evil 6 Trailer Analysis: Dual Wielding, New Enemies, And More!

I usually don’t do this, but when a trailer debuts for a game like Resident Evil 6 and shows actual gameplay, I have no choice but to scour every little detail, pixel, and second of footage and see if Capcom hid in there. If you’re looking forward to this game – and I’m sure a majority of you are since the series is finally returning more closely to the action/horror of Resident Evil 4 – then you might want to join me for this in-depth trailer analysis.

I’ve found some very, interesting things, and I’d very much like to share my knowledge with you after the jump. READ MORE

Cooperative And Competitive Multiplayer Returns To Resident Evil 6

Let’s just get this out there: Resident Evil 5′s Versus Mode was an awful idea, and one that should be lost to the tome of history forever. I can only hope the multiplayer in Resident Evil 6 has a little more thought invested in it, but at the very least I can take comfort in the fact that there’s strafing. Oh, glorious strafing, how I love you so. From an Xbox product page, which has since been updated, the game will feature a robust online offering that includes 6 player online co-op and 8 player competitive multiplayer.

1 Cooperative And Competitive Multiplayer Returns To Resident Evil 6

Wait, six player co-op? I think I remember something about there being three intersecting campaigns in Resident Evil 6, so that leads me to believe there’s a way to play each of the campaigns simultaneously with your friends. Or, maybe there’s another mode they haven’t revealed, who knows. Head past the break for the trailer, in case you missed it, and tell me what type of multiplayer you want in Resident Evil 6! Could Capcom’s Mysterious Viral Marketing Campaign Be Related To Resident Evil 6?

A creepy new viral marketing campaign has popped up called ‘No Hope Left’, and like all mysterious things, the people of the Internet have banded together to come a little closer to solving its riddles. It started off as a website covered with pictures and videos of a single message “No Hope Left”. What made this a little more intriguing was the odd symbol used in place of the first ‘O’, which my boundless skills in investigative journalism have identified as a biohazard symbol.
