Fear Factory Cancel Shockwave 2012 Tour TWO DAYS BEFORE IT KICKS OFF

Fear Factory announced yesterday that the 2012 Shockwave Festival, which saw support from such acts as Voivod, Cattle Decapitation, Misery Index, Revocation, and more, was fully and entirely cancelled. The reason? A combination of poor advance ticket sales and the fact that Voivod dropped off the tour was enough for promoters to pull the plug on the entire festival a mere two days before the start.

Fear Factory commented, “We are truly disappointed not to be part of the Shockwave tour. We send our sincerest apologies to all our North American fans planning to come out this Summer, but we will be back. Please look for Fear Factory headline dates in August.

The website for the Shockwave Festival shows only a single page with an explanation, apology, and refund information.

Below are some thoughts on why this tour didn’t make it. READ MORE

OMFG Of The Day: Metal Bands Explain Where Babies Come From

I could’ve sworn I did an ‘OMFG Of The Day’ to this last year. But after doing some digging, it looks like I was an idiot when this was released and passed it over. Well not again! This gem of a video popped up on Today’s Big Thing and I plan on sharing it’s joy with you all!

After the jump you can watch a video of a little kid interviewing members of Arsis, Revocation, Misery Index, Fear Factory, and Carnifex by asking the question that most parents dread: “Where do babies come from?” If you ever wanted to feel a little uncomfortable, just wait for Burton C. Bell’s explanation. I’m 27 and it still made me feel awkward. But informed. I am now aware of where babies come from.

Periphery has announced a contest for all you audio techs and DJ’s out there: Remix their song ‘Icarus Lives’ and it might just appear on their upcoming EP, Icarus Lives!, which is scheduled to be released in early 2011. Here is what guitarist Misha Mansoor has said about this contest: ”Hey guys, since all of us in PERIPHERY are such huge electronic music fans, we came up with a fun idea. We want to do a remix contest for our song ‘Icarus Lives!’ just to see what all you talented folk out there could do with it. We will give you just the vocals and let you go to town on it, be it a trance, house, dubstep, electronica, glitch, drum & bass or whatever your flavor is remix. Make it as crazy or as true to the original as you want, or anything in between, we want to hear what you guys can do, but originality and creativity are always well appreciated. The best part is that the winner’s song will be on our upcoming EP that is due early next year. Have at it.”
