Well, they’re in a TV commercial, that is. Yup, UK power metal group Dragonforce is now hitting the small screen courtesy of Capitol One mobile banking in a new marketing campaign.
In the commercial, which you can watch below, guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman are engaged in a vicious guitar solo battle (which is shot almost exactly like the battle in “Through The Fire And The Flames”). While one guitarist is rocking out, the other whips out his cellphone and checks his banking through the mobile banking app. Oh, and they also happen to be standing on an asteroid as it floats through space next to a blazing star. Is it strange that my only thought was, “I highly doubt the Wi-Fi signal is strong enough for them to access their data plan.”?
Dragonforce’s latest album is The Power Within, which came out April 15th, 2012. READ MORE

Roadrunner Records has uploaded a short clip on their YouTube channel that suggests Swedish progressive metal band Opeth will be touring N. American in Spring of 2013. The clip shows a view of Earth spinning slowly while “The Devil’s Orchard” from the album Heritage (review) plays. The camera begins to pull in and stops when N. America is in the screen. The Opeth ‘O’ logo comes up along with the words ‘Spring 2013′. Based upon that, it’s kind of hard to come up with any other conclusion aside from a tour. Once more details are released, we’ll let you know!
In the meanwhile, check out the video below. READ MORE

A demo version of metalcore band Killswitch Engage‘s song entitled “No End In Sight” has leaked onto the internet, resulting in the band performing the track live. It is the first track to feature original KSE vocalist Jesse Leach on front vocals since he left the band after the release of 2002′s Alive Or Just Breathing (he did guest vocals on two tracks on 2004′s The End Of Heartache). The track is a rough demo and, according to Adam Dutkiewicz in an interview with Guitar World, “It’s actually the one tune that’s pretty different from the other stuff. Overall the rest of the album is a little faster, a little meaner, a little growlier — thrashy but with lots of clean parts. We’re going a little more extreme this time.” You can hear “No End In Sight” below.
The band is currently in the studio mixing their upcoming album with producer Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Exodus, Nevermore). The as-of-yet untitled album will be released sometime in early 2013 via Roadrunner Records.
Killswitch Engage will be performing Alive Or Just Breathing in its entirety on tour in a few weeks. Support will come from Shadows Fall and Acaro. Check here for all tour dates. READ MORE

Let me just say that I’m pretty peeved that they’re not making it through Michigan. Considering that DTP is supporting, there’s a damn good chance that they might perform “Of Blood And Salt“, which would just blow my mind. And I’m positive that right before they hit the first notes of that song, Meshuggah‘s Fredrik Thordendal would come riding in on a white horse, magical sunbeams shining behind him as his hair flows mystically. He wouldn’t dismount the horse, oh no. Rather, he would just float down, arms gently spread, a soft smile upon his face. A guitar would apparate around his neck and, suddenly, everything comes crashing down as the song begins. Seriously, I have $20 down that this will happen at one of the shows.

In a recent interview with Grand Rapids, MI’s 97.9, DevilDriver vocalist Dez Fafara discussed the status of an upcoming album, which he says will probably see a release in Sept. of 2013. He also states that he and the members of Coal Chamber are tossing around the possibility of a new album. Fafara states, “About a week ago, they [Coal Chamber] sent me some new tunes and said, ‘Hey, would you ever think about doing a new record? Here’s some new tunes.’ And they were absolutely killer.”
Fafara also spoke about the band’s decision to leave Roadrunner Records and sign with Napalm Records: “…it’s important for a metal band to have a label that understands the music, understands what we wanna do, the kind of touring we do and wants to get behind it. DEVILDRIVER is rarely off the road, and so it’s important for a label to be behind it when you’re on the road.”
On the new DevilDriver record: “We’ve got a really spectacular record coming. I mean, the record is so diverse. We’ve kind of taken a jump ahead and also laid back into our groove and where we come from, so I think it’s gonna be a really outstanding record.” READ MORE

Stone Sour have released a 30-second snippet of the song “A Rumor Of Skin”, which comes off their upcoming album A House Of Gold & Bones Part 1 (out Oct. 22nd via Roadrunner Records). You can hear the snippet below.
While I’m a fan of the dissonantly harmonized and filthy guitar tone at the beginning of the sample, the vocals quickly became overbearing and the song turned into something very radio-friendly. Perhaps the whole is better than the part? Hmm…. READ MORE
Killswitch Engage has announced a full tour in celebration of the 10th anniversary of their second album Alive Or Just Breathing. The band will be performing the album in its entirety on this tour as well as other, more recent hits. The tour will begin with the band headlining the California Metal Fest in on Nov. 24th in San Bernadino, CA and end almost a month later in Portland, ME.
Earlier this year, original singer Jesse Leach rejoined the band. “I honestly never thought I would have the opportunity to sing these songs on stage with Killswitch again. Now here I am back in the band and celebrating 10 years of the release of this record. I am absolutely thrilled for this tour. I can’t wait to sing ‘Rise inside’ and ‘Just Barely Breathing’ among others. On top of it all, we have our good friends in Shadows Fall and Acaro joining us. This tour will be one we will all remember!”
Guitarist Joel Stroetzel states, “We’re all looking forward to this tour! It’s going to be a great time on all levels. Playing songs we haven’t played in many years, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Alive or Just Breathing with Jesse now back in the band, and just hanging out with some great old friends — we’re psyched.”
Joining KsE on the tour will be Shadows Fall and Acaro. All tour dates are below. READ MORE
Finnish metal band Nightwish has released two new stills from their upcoming film Imaginaerum, which is based upon the band’s latest album of the same name. Filmed in Canada and finished in Finland, the film follows the dreams of a dying man. The stills can be seen below. The film is slated to come out in Finland on Nov. 23rd.
Keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen said that the band is, “…seen in two different scenes as a band, playing in the background. That’s something that I really emphasized to the director, ‘Please don’t put the band into the movie,’ because we want to do a believable story and we have no idea how to act. We are not actors so if your give us some lines and we tried to act, it would look goofy. He insisted to put us into the movie because it’s our brainchild, so we’re just playing in there as a band; it’s a good compromise.” [source]
