Volbeat Releases Trailer For New Album: Announce Guest Appearances From King Diamond, Sarah Blackwood, And More

Danish rockers Volbeat have announced several new details regarding their upcoming album Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, which comes out April 9th. The album will feature guest appearances from King Diamon (Mercyful Fate), Sarah Blackwood (Walk Off The Earth), and blues harp player Paul Lamb. It’s also been officially announced that the band has welcomed ex-Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano as one of their own.

Singer/guitarist Michael Poulsen comments on King Diamond’s guest appearance, “I’m a huge fan of Mercyful Fate and King Diamond. Having King on the record is a huge privilege. Normally, it’s not something he does. He wrote his own lines, and it is half my lyrics and half his. It’s a weird, scary story, and he’s the perfect person for it.

Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies was recorded in PUK Studios in Randers, Denmark with Jacob Hansen and Rob Caggiano sharing production duties. READ MORE

Ex-Anthrax Guitarist Rob Caggiano Officially Joins Volbeat

Danish metal band Volbeat has announced that ex-Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano has officially signed on as second guitarist. Caggiano produced the band’s upcoming album Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, which will be coming out April 8th.

Singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen shared, “The band is very proud and happy to announce that he will also be the new guitar player in Volbeat. The collaboration with Rob in the studio was so inspiring and in good spirit that we the decided to keep him. Basically we went into the studio as a three piece and came out as a whole band!

Discussing the album, Poulsen states, “Half of the album tracks will take you into the world of outlaw gunslinger stories sometime in the 1800s. Some of the characters are true legends, while others are fiction. The listener will hear inspiration from old classic spaghetti western movies which gives you a clue to the album title and cover artwork.

Volbeat Aiming To Release ‘Outlaw Gentlemen And Shady Ladies’ This Spring

Danish rockers Volbeat have announced that they will be releasing their new studio album Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies this Spring. The band recorded the album with producer Rob Caggiano (Anthrax) and Jacob Hansen, who produced and mixed the previous four Volbeat releases.

Front man Michael Poulsen reveals; “We’re back in the studio, this time breaking some of our old habits and this sometimes means leaving our comfort zone. We are recording in a new environment, producing with a new set up breaking new sonic ground and it’s exciting! Together with our long time collaborator Jacob Hansen we also have the honor of having producer Rob Caggiano on board in the producer’s seat. Expect lots of surprises and some of our most rocking heavy songs to date. We feel more than ever that we are taking the Volbeat sound to another level without changing what we’re all about. Can’t wait for it to get out there!

The band will also be touring N. America this Spring with support coming from Canadian hard rockers Danko Jones. Tour dates are below. READ MORE

Anthrax Pick Replacement Guitarist For Upcoming Tours

Thrash metal legends Anthrax recently announced the shocking news that lead guitarist Rob Caggiano had quit the band, just a month before a heavy touring schedule was set to begin. However, the band also stated that they would not be hosting auditions for a new lead guitarist. The reason for that is now obvious as it has been announced that Shadows Fall guitarist Jon Donais will be filling in as lead guitarist while the band tours over the next few months.

Scott Ian states, “Jon is a bro and he’s also a total fucking ripper. I’ve worked with him twice before on side projects and he tears it up. I’m excited to have him on my right burning up the stage with Anthrax. 13′s gonna be a good year.

Donais adds, “I grew up on Anthrax, they’re the thrash scene, they’re one of The Big Four, I’d be crazy to not want to play with them. Initially, Rob called and told me he was leaving the band, and asked if I’d be interested in filling in. Then Scott called me and everything fell into place. Rob and I are using Skype to work on solos and other guitar parts, so he’s being great. I also have to give special thanks to my band – Brian, Matt, Jason and Ed – who have been incredibly supportive and encouraged me to do this.

You can see all tour dates that Donais will be on below. READ MORE

Guitarist Rob Caggiano Leaves Anthrax

Guitarist Rob Caggiano has decided to leave Anthrax to focus on studio production work. The lead guitarist has already amassed several production credits including Cradle of Filth‘s Grammy-nominated album Nymphetamine, The Damned Things, as well as Anthrax’s latest album Worship Music, which has a Grammy nod this year thanks to their song “I’m Alive”.

Caggiano’s official statement reads, “I’m extremely proud of my time in Anthrax. Actually, that’s an understatement! We accomplished so many great things together over the years and I shared some of the best times of my life with these guys. As a band, we also weathered quite a few storms along the way. It’s been a wild ride (to say the least) from Day One and I wouldn’t change one single thing about the last 12 years. This is an extremely difficult and emotional decision for me to make but my heart is just steering me in a different direction right now. I’ve always been one to follow my heart in everything that I do and while this might be one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, it feels like the right one for me at this time. Scott, Charlie, Joey, Frankie (and John Bush) will always be part of my family and this decision doesn’t change the way I feel about that in the slightest. I would also like to say thanks to all the amazing fans I’ve met and hung out with worldwide over the years. You guys always were and always will be the reason why I make music! In this day and age, being a musician isn’t always easy -also an understatement- but the fans truly make it worthwhile for me. I hope to see each and every one of you again really soon. The fact that Anthrax is at the top of their game right now and totally ‘out for blood’ after all these years is a testament to this band’s longevity and conviction! I’m truly honored to have been a part of their brilliant legacy.
