Here’s 60 Seconds of Uni’s ‘R.I.P.D.’

Universal has a released a 60-second TV Spot for R.I.P.D., starring Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak, Mary-Louise Parker, Marisa Miller, Mike O’Malley, James Hong, Robert Knepper, and Tobias Segal.

In theaters July 19, “Nick is dead — at least, that’s how he remembers it — and teams up with another deceased detective, a gunslinger from the Old West (played by Jeff Bridges), to work for the elite task force, the Rest In Peace Department (hence the title), to track down the dead on Earth. (Due to overpopulation, some unsettled spirits haven’t gone where they’re supposed to, and are hiding out). Technically, R.I.P.D. officers (who are overseen by Mary-Louise Parker) aren’t allowed to kill anyone living, and aren’t supposed to interact with anyone from their previous lives, but Nick is haunted by the fact that he was murdered by another cop (played by Kevin Bacon), and can’t let it go.READ MORE

‘R.I.P.D.’ Screenwriters Open Up About The Film’s Epic Shoot And New Ending

Universal Pictures’ R.I.P.D. is aiming for a July 19th release and it has been a long time coming. The film seemingly shot forever and, according to screenwriters Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, it was all in service of making this Dark Horse adaptation a bigger experience for the fans.

The pair explained the added scenes to Collider with Manfredi elaborating, “A lot of the core scenes from our early drafts are still there. They’ve remained through every version of the script. I think where it changed a little bit from the first draft to the last draft is that it just got bigger and bigger in scope. And so, the finale was a smaller set piece in our first draft and it developed. We were in a meeting recently, and we were like, “do you remember when this ended on a farm, like Witness?”

Hay adds, “…But in the movie, it’s a lot of two guys driving around in a car together and driving each other insane. That’s what this movie is and what’s it’s always been. I think that Jeff and Ryan do incredibly well together.

Robert Schwentke directs the film starring Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak, Mary-Louise Parker, Marisa Miller, Mike O’Malley, James Hong, Robert Knepper and Tobias Segal.

Trailer For ‘R.I.P.D.’ Takes The ‘Men In Black’ Route! Updated With Images!!

Universal Pictures’ R.I.P.D. is aiming for a July 19th release and has started their hype machine. The official trailer just hit, and I’m sort of confused as to how I feel about it. I expected something that felt a little bit Men In Black, but I didn’t expect it to feel THIS much like it! I also don’t know how I feel about Jeff Bridges reprising the Rooster Cogburn accent from True Grit.

Robert Schwentke directs the Dark Horse Comics adaptation in which a recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him. Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak, Mary-Louise Parker, Marisa Miller, Mike O’Malley, James Hong, Robert Knepper and Tobias Segal star.

‘R.I.P.D.’ Poster Emphasizes Stars Over Fun

Universal Pictures’ R.I.P.D. is aiming for a July 19th release and has started their hype machine. While I’m actually hearing good things about the footage out of Cinemacon – and that we’ll be able to see a trailer this week, I’m sort of disappointed in this poster. It’s just so grey and bland. Jeff Bridges awesome mustache still stands out though.

Teaser Posters For ‘R.I.P.D.,’ ‘Oldboy’ and ‘Insidious Chapter 2′

Out of the CinemaCon starting tomorrow in Las Vegas comes teaser logo posters for a trio of upcoming genre films.

The Insidious Chapter 2 looks like the film’s first logo, only with the letter “S” forming a “2″. In theaters September 13, Oscar-nominated Barbara Hershey will play the role of Lorraine Lambert, the mother to Patrick Wilson’s Josh Lambert and the grandmother to the demon-possessed boy Dalton. Directed by James Wan, who was recently attached to the next Fast & Furious installment, the pic also stars Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Ty Simpkins, Leigh Whannell, Angus Sampson, Andrew Astor, Jocelin Donahue, and Danielle Bisutti.

I quite enjoy FilmDistrict’s Oldboy tease, which scratches out the number of days before the protag. is released from prison. In theaters October 11, the film stars Josh Bolin as an advertising executive who is kidnapped and imprisoned for 20 years without explanation. He is abruptly released and sets out to discover the who and why of his captivity, running across a social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation. The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson and James Ransone.

Just added is also a look at the poster for Uni’s R.I.P.D., Robert Schwentke’s troubles comic adaptation in theaters July 19. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak and Mary-Louise Parker, it follows a recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him. ‘R.I.P.D.’ Actually Exists! Photographic Evidence!

Universal Pictures’ R.I.P.D. is aiming for a July 19th release, and they’re down to the wire. This film has been in the works for longer than I have even been working here (one of my first news posts was a set pic) and could possibly even still be shooting (they were a month ago). This leaves very little time to lock picture and postconvert to 3D, but I hold out hope.

Anyway, EW scored the first pic from the film. It looks aight. Jeff Bridges definitely has some cool mustache stuff going on and I did his golden gun. Let’s just hope this isn’t wht Wild Wild West of the undead.

[News Bites] ‘R.I.P.D’ Being Converted To 3-D; Sarah Snook Travels To ‘Predestination’; Daniel Radcliffe Confirmed For ‘Frankenstein’

Universal Pictures’ R.I.P.D. is getting post-converted to 3-D for its July 19 release. What’s even more interesting is that they’ve been filming additional scenes for months, which begs the question, are they shooting the new scenes in 3-D? I doubt it. Robert Schwentke directs the Dark Horse Comics adaptation in which a recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him. Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon and Stephanie Szostak star.

Aussie actress Sarah Snook (star of Lionsgate’s Ghosts, directed by Saw 3D’s Kevin Greutert; pictured above) has just landed the lead female role opposite Ethan Hawke in Predestination, a time-travelling sci-fi thriller that reteams Hawke with his Daybreakers writer-directors Peter and Michael Spierig, reports Deadline. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions acquired domestic and some international rights in Cannes to the pic, in which Hawke plays a Temporal Agent who on his final assignment pursues a criminal who has long eluded him. Blacklab Entertainment’s Tim McGahan and Wolfhound Pictures’ Patrick McDonald produce the movie, which is based on a short story by Robert A. Heinlein. Shooting begins April 8 in Melbourne.

Lastly, it was confirmed today long standing news that Harry Potter, Horns and The Woman in Black‘s Daniel Radcliffe, pictured, is in final negotiations to star as Igor in the classic tale Frankenstein for 20th Century Fox and Davis Entertainment, says Variety. Paul McGuigan is on board to direct the gothic feature from a script by Max Landis (Chronicle). Based on Mary Shelley’s 19th century novel, “Frankenstein” is expected to shoot in the fall. READ MORE

We broke the news a few weeks back that Universal Pictures had scheduled a series of additional photography for Robert Schwentke’s R.I.P.D., their comic adaptation that follows a recently slain cop who joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him. The pic, in theaters July 19, 2013, also stars Kevin Bacon, Stephanie Szostak, , Marisa Miller, Mike O’Malley, James Hong, Robert Knepper and Tobias Segal.

The pic, also starring Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Jonas Armstrong, Tony Way, Kick Gurry, Franz Drameh, Dragomir Mrsic and Charlotte Riley, centers on a soldier (Cruise) in a near-future war against aliens who relives his last day over and over after being killed. Uni Shifts Comic Book Adaptation ‘R.I.P.D.’

Universal Pictures has bumped back the release of Robert Schwentke’s comic book adaptation R.I.P.D. by a few weeks.

Well, not knowing the identity of his killer has left his soul a bit. . . restless. Now he hunts some of the most fiendish creatures, hoping for the chance to find out who set him up so he can get into heaven.
