Sadako waits, a vicious spirit, hungry for blood and souls. What began as a haunted videotape, passed from hand to cursed hand all those years ago in THE RING, has only gotten easier to find. Sadako waits. And it’s not just on tape anymore. At a local high school, there is a rumor about an online video of someone committing suicide. If it were only a prank, or the work of a deranged artist in town, the students wouldn’t be killing themselves after watching it, would they? The police would have a theory about the quickly-growing body count? And what about the woman in white with long hair? Sadako is always hungry. And she’s no longer alone.

13 years after the original Ring movie, Sadako returned to the big screen in Japan in Sadako 3D. Now the film is headed to US DVD, Blu-ray and VOD/digital markets on June 8th.

In the film, “Sadako waits, a vicious spirit, hungry for blood and souls. And then there’s the Korean remake The Ring Virus alongside the two U.S. remakes.

[OMFG] ‘The Ring’s Sadako Throws Out First Pitch In Tokyo Dome!

Some incredible PR took place this past Wednesday as Kadokawa Shoten Company, the studio behind the forthcoming May 12 release of Sadako 3D, brought the Ringu franchise villain to the Tokyo Dome in order to throw out the first pitch! Hilarious video above!

Koji Suzuki, the author of the original “Ring” novel series, originally indicated that the new 3D film will include a scene of Sadako coming out of a television set, similar to the original. He penned the screenplay. Tsutomu Hanabusa directs.

For those of you keeping tally, there have been four Japanese films based on Koji Suzuki’s popular Ring series including Ringu, Rasen, Ringu 2, and Ringu 0: Birthday. Then there are the little known Japanese TV Series: “Ring: The Final Chapter” (12 Episodes) and it’s sequel “Rasen” (13 Episodes). 13 years after the original Ring movie, Sadako will be returning to the big screen in Sadako 3D. Kadokawa Shoten Company released today the film’s first batch of official imagery. Koji Suzuki, the author of the original “Ring” novel series, originally indicated that the new 3D film will include a scene of Sadako coming out of a television set, similar to the original. He penned the screenplay. Tsutomu Hanabusa directs. It opens in Japan May 12.

“Akane is a high school teacher who hears a rumor from her students that there is actual footage on the Internet of someone’s suicide. The footage is said to drive anyone who sees it to also commit suicide. Akane does not believe the rumor at first, but when one of her female students dies after viewing the footage, she and her boyfriend Takanori are fatefully drawn into the horror that has been created by the man who appears in the suicide footage, Kashiwada.

Kashiwada’s intention is to create chaos in the world by bringing back Sadako and the power of her curse. Now Akane has to fight against Sadako and Kashiwada to save the lives of herself and Takanori.”

While DreamWorks continues to develop the English-language The Ring 3D, Japanese Kadokawa Pictures made a major announcement for fans of the original 1998 Ringu.

Arriving in Japanese theaters in 2012 is Sadako 3D, featuring the creepy black-haired character from the Ring horror series that started the J-horror craze.

Sadako, identified by her long black hair covering her face, has become an iconic character in the Japanese horror genre. Koji Suzuki, the author of the original “Ring” novel series, indicated that the new 3D film will include a scene of Sadako coming out of a television set, similar to the original.

Suzuki wrote a completely new story for the movie. The director and the cast have not yet been revealed.
