Lionsgate Nabs Hammer’s ‘The Quiet Ones,’ Sets 2014 Date!

Lionsgate closed a deal with Exclusive Media for North American distribution rights to the Hammer production of The Quiet Ones, the John Pogue-directed supernatural thriller that stars “Mad Men’s” Jared Harris and Sam Claflin, who starred in the last Pirates of the Caribbean, reports Deadline.

Lionsgate has already slated the pic for release on April 25, 2014.

Inspired by true events, “Quiet Ones “tells the story of an unorthodox professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Based on the theory that paranormal activity is caused by human negative energy, the rogue scientists perform a series of tests on a young patient, pushing her to the edge of sanity. As frightening occurrences begin to take place with shocking and gruesome consequences, the group quickly realizes they have triggered a force more terrifying than they ever could have imagined.“

Man, there are times when Lionsgate’s marketing department literally blows my mind with how incredible they are. Such the case with this remarkable The Hunger Games: Catching Fire one-sheet and banner, depicting Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) standing tall and strong on a cliff. I love the classic “Mona Lisa”-esque painting look it was given, too. The poster was accompanied by the quote: “The sun persists in rising, so I make myself stand.”

The Francis Lawrence-directed sequel, in theaters November 22, “continues the story of Katniss Everdeen and the fictional, futuristic nation of Panem. Lionsgate has officially premiered the teaser trailer for Francis Lawrence’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, in theaters November 22.

While most of you gents are critical of our coverage, I stand behind the franchise as worthy of Bloody Disgusting, even if it isn’t as violent as Battle Royale. And let’s be frank, the first movie was pretty good…

As the sequel to the 2008 bestseller “The Hunger Games,” Catching Fire continues the story of Katniss Everdeen and the fictional, futuristic nation of Panem. Starring Jared Harris (“Mad Men”, The Ward) and Sam Claflin and directed by John Pogue, below you’ll find a leaked look at the first poster for Hammer Films’ The Quiet Ones. “Inspired by true events, it tells the story of an unorthodox, but charismatic Professor (Harris) who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist from negative human energy.”

From IFC Films comes the one-sheet for Errors of the Human Body, pictured above, which opens in limited theaters April 19, day and date with IFC Films Video on Demand, SundanceNOW and digital outlets: iTunes, Amazon Streaming, PS3 Playstation Unlimited, XBOX Zune, Google PLAY and YouTube. Starring The Divide‘s Michael Eklund, “When a potentially lethal virus is created within his new lab, Dr Geoff Burton is shocked to discover he is not only the unwitting cause, but also its first victim.”

Warners has released yet another Jaeger poster for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, this time depicting a giant “Striker Eureka” robot out of Australia. Prepare for war this July 12. The pic is set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.

And we’ve also got a poster for Amazon’s, “Zombieland” pilot. Based on the hit Columbia Pictures movie of the same name, and finds four survivors outwitting zombies and searching for a place to call home. The Zombieland pilot comes from the feature film’s original creative team, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The Joe Schmo Show), and producer Gavin Polone (Gilmore Girls, Curb Your Enthusiasm). Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) is directing the pilot. The part of Tallahassee will be played by Kirk Ward (The Island), Maiara Walsh (Desperate Housewives, Switched at Birth,) is cast as Wichita, Tyler Ross (Milkshake) will play Columbus, and Izabela Vidovic has the role of Little Rock

Lionsgate/Summit has released a fifth character poster for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which we’ve been stacking up as to not annoy you guys on a daily basis.

The series includes looks at Jennifer Lawrence all dressed up as Katniss Everdeen, Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, Stanley Tucci as Caesar Flickerman, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy, and Lenny Kravitz as Cinna.

In theaters November 22, “The sequel begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will again feature the great Elizabeth Banks in her role as Effie Trinkett. I like Banks a lot, so I’m hoping she has more to do this time. Update: We’ve added a poster of Stanley Tucci as the host of the games, Caesar. Apparently they’re starting with the purple-haired characters first.

Alex Walton, Exclusive Media’s President of International Sales and Distribution, announced today that major sales have been completed on the recently wrapped Hammer supernatural thriller The Quiet Ones, starring Jared Harris (“Mad Men”) and Sam Claflin (Hunger Games: Catching Fire).

Lionsgate has picked up UK distribution rights to the film. Exclusive has also signed deals with EEAP for Eastern Europe and CIS, Independent for Benelux, Ascot Elite for Switzerland, CDC for Latin America, CCC for Japan, Nu Metro for South Africa and Front Row for the Middle East. In addition, other territory deals for the film include Deltamac for Hong Kong, Tanweer for India and Pakistan, , D Productions for Turkey, Village Roadshow for Greece, Sam Films for Iceland, United King for Israel, PT Amero for Indonesia, Lotus Five Star for Malaysia, M Pictures for Thailand, Pioneer for Philippines and Star TV for SE Asia. EW has landed three new looks inside Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, directed by Francis Lawrence for release on November 22, 2013.

With the images accompanied a cover story in which Lawrence revealed that Bonnie, Twill, and Darius will not make it into the sequel. On how the movie will now introduce District 13, Lawrence would only say that “it was fun figuring out new ways around things and new ways of doing things.”

“It’s as agonizing for us to lose things from the book as it is for a fan,” says producer Nina Jacobson. “I want every single thing in there. But you know what? If you have to give up something in order to give more time to Katniss and Gale or to Effie as she starts to feel a conscience, you make the sacrifices in order to serve the characters and themes that are more essential.” READ MORE

Hammer brought their new film, The Quiet Ones, to the American Film Market today in Santa Monica. It stars Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Olivia Cooke and Rory Fleck-Byrne also star. The horror pic shot in Oxfordshire.

Directed by John Pogue and inspired by true events, “‘The Quiet Ones’ tells the story of an unorthodox professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Hammer has launched their YouTube with a sneak peak behind-the-scenes of their new film, The Quiet Ones, starring Jared Harris and Sam Claflin. Erin Richards, Olivia Cooke and Rory Fleck-Byrne also star. The horror pic is currently lensing in Oxfordshire.

Simon Oakes, Vice-Chairman of Exclusive Media and President & CEO of Hammer announced today that Hammer, an Exclusive Media Company, begins principal photography on The Quiet Ones, the supernatural thriller/horror which will shoot on location in Oxfordshire.

Starring Jared Harris (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, ‘Mad Men’) and Sam Claflin (Snow White and the Huntsman, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), The Quiet Ones will be directed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2: Terminal). Joining the cast are Erin Richards (‘Breaking In’, ‘Being Human’), Olivia Cooke (‘The Secret of Crickley Hall’, ‘The Fuse’) and West End theater actor Rory Fleck-Byrne. Sam Claflin (picture below), whose credits include Snow White and the Huntsman and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, has signed on to star alongside Jared Harris in Hammer Films’ supernatural The Quiet Ones, Variety says.

The supernatural thriller-horror is set to be helmed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2: Terminal), with James Gay-Rees (Senna) producing, alongside TPSC Film’s Steven Chester Prince.

Pic, which was originally written by Tom De Ville with revisions by Craig Rosenberg, Oren Moverman and Pogue, “Follows the story of a charismatic professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students to take part in creating an poltergeist from negative human energy.”
