It’s time to pay your respects to Jigsaw and the fate of the Saw franchise.
To promote the UK release of Saw 3D: The Final Chapter now on DVD and Blu-ray, plus the extensive Saw: Final Cut 1-7 box set, Lionsgate UK has cut together a pretty funny “Saw Memorial Video” that we’ve posted below.
BD regular ‘Jaykah’ pointed me in the direction of two very interesting Saw 3D news bites. First, inside you’ll find a deleted scene from the forthcoming DVD/Blu-ray release (January 25) featuring Dr. Gordon and Bobby converging on their beliefs and past times. In addition, he also stumbled upon an interview with Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington who calls the seventh film in the franchise “bad”. “I don’t know, man, that was a pretty bad movie. It was fun. I don’t actively go out and audition for movies.” I always get a kick out of stars admitting a film wasn’t up to their standards. READ MORE
Update: As I stated the previous numbers seemed a bit high. I have $10.8m on Friday for ‘Saw 3D’ and $23.7m weekend; $5.8m for ‘PA2′ and $16.7m for the weekend. Early boxoffice reports put Saw 3D at the top of the pack with an estimated $11m in 2,808 theaters on Friday giving a weekend total of $28m. This is slightly higher than the projections, although taking into account the high cost of 3D it balances out. $28m is an astounding opening weekend take for a seventh film in the franchise, while also going head-to-head with Paramount’s Paranormal Activity 2 in its second week of a release. PA 2 dropped a hefty 68% with $6.4m on Friday in 3,239 theaters. It looks to make $18.5m over the holiday weekend. Who says horror can’t kick ass in October? The two films accounted for $46m and took the top two slots. Too bad Lionsgate dubbed this the final Saw — but we all know the truth…Jigsaw’s game is just beginning. It’s time to goodbye. Jigsaw’s game is coming to an end and all of you are his guests. Bloody Disgusting’s BC had a blast watching Lionsgate’s Saw 3D, the seventh entry in the long running franchise that’s now in theaters everywhere. “I know I had some concerns, but it’s ultimately a good time at the movies, and the minor pacing/story issues are pretty much forgotten once that final reel kicks in and Charlie Clouser’s amazing theme plays that one last time as the series truly comes full circle.” Click the title above for the full review or check back here this weekend to write your own and tell all of Bloody Disgusting what YOU think. Is this the epic finale you hoped for? READ MORE
In US and UK cinemas this coming Friday is Lionsgate’s Saw 3D, the final film in the long running franchise. To say “farewell”, a pretty gruesome red band clip was created to take you back to the beginning where you’ll enjoy a shocking montage of all the nastiest moments throughout the entire Saw series! Sweeeeeeet. In addition, we were tipped off to this page that has collected a slew of unreleased Saw 3D posters – some cool, some absolutely horrid. For more Saw you can read Andrea Albin’s retrospective piece on the seven year franchise. READ MORE
