‘Cabin Fever: Patient Zero’ Begins Trilogy

Voltage Pictures, Nicolas Chartier’s financing, production and sales outfit will present the world premiere screening and kick off sales in Cannes on Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, the first in an anticipated reboot of the horror franchise, reports Screen Daily.

Kaare Andrews shot the film in the Dominican Republic last November from a screenplay by Jake Wade Wall, whose credits include The Hitcher and When A Stranger Calls.

Producer Evan Astrowsky from the original Cabin Fever is currently developing two more sequels with Voltage and Dominican Republic-based Indomina.

Sean Astin stars in Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, “about a group of friends who arrive on a Caribbean island in search of the perfect scuba dive and find instead a person who has been quarantined with a highly infectious flesh-eating virus.

Kevin Riepl Announced As Composer For ‘Cabin Fever: Patient Zero’

It has been announced that Kevin Riepl (Gears Of War, The Aggression Scale, Aliens: Colonial Marines) will be composing Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, the prequel to the 2002 Eli Roth-directed film. The film has a 2014 release date.

Directed by Kaare Andrews, the film stars Sean Astin (Lord Of The Rings, The Goonies), Jillian Murray (The Graves), and Brando Eaton (Dexter, American Horror Story: Asylum).

‘Cabin Fever: Patient Zero’ Fills Cast, Shoots Next Month

Lydia Hearst (pictured), the model-turned-actress daughter of Patty Hearst, has joined the cast of Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, the reboot of the horror movie from Indomina, reports Heat Vision.

Sean Astin and Brano Eaton are starring in the pic, which also has Gillian Murray and Ryan Donowho as part of the cast. Mitch Ryan, meanwhile, has stepped into the shoes vacated by Ben Hollingsworth, whose schedule was crunched when he booked a role on CW’s midseason show “Cult.”

The story kicks off when a bachelor party cruise in the Caribbean unexpectedly runs ashore on a medical-research island and a deadly virus is unleashed. The passengers must struggle to find a way to survive before their own demons and the flesh-eating bacteria consumes them all.

Lydia will play a wide-eyed research grad student who is aligned with the film’s antagonist (Astin).

Comic book artist Kaare Andrews (who helmed the horrid Altitude) is directing from a screenplay penned by Jake Wade Wall (The Hitcher).

Shooting is due to begin mid-October in the Dominican Republic.

Three Set To Cruise Into ‘Cabin Fever: Patient Zero’

Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings, The Goonies, Encino Man), Brando Eaton (“Dexter,” “American Horror Story”) and Ben Hollingsworth will topline Indomina’s Cabin Fever: Patient Zero with Kaare Andrews directing, reports Variety.

Shooting will start August 13 in the Dominican Republic, where Indomina has part of its operations. It also plans to shoot Cabin Fever: Outbreak in the Dominican Republic.

Original Cabin Fever producer Evan Astrowsky and his Hypotenuse Pictures is producing Patient Zero with Indomina. Jake Wade Wall (The Hitcher, When a Stranger Calls) wrote the Patient Zero screenplay that “Centers on a bachelor party cruise in the Caribbean unexpectedly running ashore on a medical research island, a deadly virus is unleashed.

Andrews is a writer and artist who worked on Marvel Comics’ “The Incredible Hulk,” “Ultimate X-Men” and “Spider-Man: Reign.” He made his feature directing debut with the supernatural horror movie Altitude and is in post on “V is for Vagitus” as part of the “ABC’s of Death” a horror anthology.
