Sean Bean And Tom Savini On Screen Together? It’ll Happen In ‘The 4th Reich’

So yeah, The 4th Reich sounds kind of crazy to me so far. It’ll see Sean Bean (pictured inside; “Game Of Thrones”, LOTR), special effects wizard/actor Tom Savini (“From Dusk Till Dawn”), and Craig Conway (The Descent) acting for director Shaun Robert Smith (The Forgotten Ground).

Per The Hollywood Reporter, “Sean Bean has signed to star opposite an ensemble cast including Sean Pertwee, Tom Savini and Craig Conway in Shaun Robert Smith-directed WW2 action-horror film The 4th Reich. Bean, whose resume boasts high profile turns in “Game of Thrones” and ‘Lord of the Rings’, will play a charismatic British sergeant major in the film.

The script, “details the story of a brigade of British soldiers sent into occupied mainland Europe who find themselves up against an enemy created by Nazi scientists as an all-powerful fighting force for what would be the 4th Reich.

The movie was recently purchased by U.K. sale to eOne Entertainment. It is scheduled to shoot this summer and U.K. indie production banner Mann Made Films are currently recruiting more cast. READ MORE

Bassett Speaks On ‘Silent Hill: Revelation 3D’

Bassett Speaks On Silent Hill: Revelation 3D

There have been a slew of rumors on the IMDB forums that Lionsgate will be releasing the Michael J. Bassett-directed Silent Hill: Revelation 3D on October 5, replacing the recently bumped Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. While this may have been discussed internally, we already have debunked that rumor with the Lionsgate marketing department — hence the reason it was never reported here on the site.

Bassett has been very chatty on his official blog, even taking time to respond to reader questions. Someone asked about the delayed sequel. His response: “Oh yes, I have lots of pictures, interviews, trailers, even a finished movie … But the people who have invested their money in making this film have chosen, rightly or wrongly, to hold back the release of anything until they have a release schedule for the film they’re happy with. It is their choice and even as it’s frustrating as hell for me, I respect that this is how they wish to play it.

From this writer’s perspective, holding content until a release is solidified is smart. There’s no reason to blow your wad early, especially when it could be years before the film eventually hits theaters. We’re all dying to see some new Silent Hill content, hopefully it’ll come sooner than later. READ MORE

Michael J. Bassett Wants ‘Silent Hill: Revelation 3D’ to Be “More” Frightening

An old video was just unearthed on YouTube that’s more of a franchise fluff piece than an in depth feature, although it does include some words from Silent Hill: Revelation 3D director Michael J. Bassett and star Adelaide Clemens.

I want this to be much more frightening than the first movie as well, because I think that is true to what ‘Silent Hill’ is,” said Bassett. “They are the most frightening computer games ever made…

In the sequel awaiting a release date from Lionsgate, “For years, Heather Mason and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. Blu-Ray Review: ‘Death Race 2′

Even though Paul W.S. Anderson’s Death Race wasn’t well received, I think most people will still find it shocking that Universal’s DTV prequel, Death Race 2, is more energetic and entertaining, even if it plays out like a video game just as much. New B-D reviewer Brian Orndorf sent in his thoughts on the Blu-Ray release, saying “Even with a considerably smaller budget and an absence of Statham, Death Race 2 manages to find a more thrilling edge to known elements, providing the occasionally rousing viewing experience Anderson was incapable of producing the first time around.” Click the title for the full review.

Death Race 2 (V)

Newly arrived at Terminal Island, a prison for the most unredeemable of convicts, Carl ‘Luke’ Lucas must prove his mettle in a race to the death.

Death Race 2
takes place in the very near future, as the United States economy begins to decline and violent crime starts to spiral out of control. To contain the growing criminal population, a vast network of for-profit, private prisons springs up, creating a lawless subculture ruled by gangs, cold-blooded killers and sociopaths. The worst of these prisons is Terminal Island, where inmates fight each other in a highly rated televised death match, where there are no rules, and the winner is the one who survives the gladiator-style, no-holds-barred competition. Convicted cop-killer Carl Lucas (Luke Goss) arrives on the Island to serve his life sentence just as ruthlessly ambitious television personality September Jones evolves the death match into the ultimate reality show – Death Race. A brutal prison yard demolition derby that pits prisoners against each other in steel reinforced, heavily armed vehicles, Death Race offers the winner the ultimate prize: freedom — if he can survive to enjoy it.

The Hitcher

From filmmaker Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company (producers of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Amityville Horror) comes The Hitcher, an update of the 1986 film of the same name.

Dave Meyers makes his feature directorial debut on the new thriller, which tracks the terrifying trajectory of Grace Andrews (Sophia Bush) and Jim Halsey (Zachary Knighton), a collegiate couple who are tormented by the mysterious hitchhiker John Ryder, a.k.a. The Hitcher (Sean Bean).

The young couple hit the road in a 1970 Oldsmobile 442, en route to spring break. But their pleasure trip soon turns into a waking nightmare. The initial encounters with Ryder are increasingly off-putting for Grace and Jim, and they bravely fight back when he ambushes them. But they are truly blindsided when he implicates them in a horrific slaying and continues to shadow them.

The open road becomes a suspenseful, action-packed battleground of blood and metal as, in trying to elude not only Ryder but also New Mexico State Police Lieutenant Esteridge’s (Neal McDonough) officers, Grace and Jim must fight for their lives and face their fears head-on.
