[TV] Two Major Roles Filled For Potential “Dexter” Series Finale

Saw 3D and Boondock Saints star Sean Patrick Flanery, pictured above right, has been tapped for a major recurring role on the upcoming eighth season of Showtime’s hit serial killer drama “Dexter,” reports Deadline, while EW adds that veteran British actress Charlotte Rampling (The Avengers,” Stardust Memories, The Verdict, The Duchess) has also landed a key role.

Flanery will play Jacob Elroy, the ex-cop owner of a private investigation company in Miami. Rampling will play a neuro-psychiatrist who specializes in working with young psychopaths and profiling criminals in unorthodox ways. Her role has a significant impact on next season’s story.

Earlier this month, Showtime’s entertainment president David Nevins would not say whether “Dexter”‘s upcoming eighth season would be its last as had been widely expected before the veteran found creative rejuvenation and hit ratings highs in Season 7. “I think I will clarify before “Dexter” goes on the air for this next season (in June),” Nevins said. “There’s a clear end game in place.” It is unclear whether the Elroy character would be part of that end game.

[San Diego Comic-Con '12] New ‘The Devil’s Carnival’ Clip Stings, Sing YOUR Version & Join The Tour!

The Devil’s Carnival – the latest musical from Darren Lynn Bousman (Repo: The Genetic Opera, Saw 2-4, Mother’s Day) is headed back out on the road after a successful 40 date tour earlier this year. It all kicks off at 11:59PM on July 13th during the San Diego Comic-Con at the Gaslamp Theatre (tickets here)! We attended the premiere of the event back in April and you are welcome to read our positive recap.

But before the Devil continues his road show, Bloody Disgusting has landed an exclusive clip that ties into a pretty cool promotion. In this scene, Lucifer (Zdunich) reads the classic fable “The Scorpion and the Frog” as the slick and charming Scorpion (Marc Senter) croons “Trust Me” to his gullible frog gal, Tamara (Jessica Lowndes). Aided by the lovely Painted Doll (Emilie Autumn), The Scorpion uses a knife-thrower’s deadly accuracy to strike love into Tamara’s heart. But once she takes his bait, this Lothario can’t help but reveal his true, venomous nature.

In short, creators Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich want to hear your cover of “Trust Me”, a lethal lullaby from their new musical movie. The most infernally inspired videos will be screened in front of thousands on The Devil’s Carnival 24-City EncoreTour! (Tickets for all shows are available here.)

You’ll find the video with more instructions, along with tour info after the break. READ MORE

Kaw (Sci-Fi Channel)

One last day.

That’s all small town sheriff Wayne (Sean Patrick Flanery THE BOONDOCK SAINTS, POWDER), has left before moving away to a better life with his wife Cynthia (Kristin Booth). But what starts as a typical day, soon turns into a deadly battle for survival.

KAW is the story of a bustling community that comes under attack by a conspiracy of ravens. Clyde (Stephen McHattie) was the first to notice the aggressive behavior of the birds as they attacked his farm. But since Clyde long ago lost his good standing in the town, his rantings and complaints are summarily ignored…until things take a drastic turn for the worst.

As it will soon be discovered, local farmer Oskar (John Ralston) has been hiding some unnatural developments from the townsfolk…and this leads to the deadly assault the town now must struggle to survive.

When the local girls’ soccer team comes under siege by the killer ravens, everyone desperately fights their way towards the town diner. Wayne and Doc (Rod Taylor, THE BIRDS) board up the windows and doors, but to little avail. The ravens have a taste for blood and furiously attack the makeshift stronghold trying to reach the human flesh inside.

There is nowhere to run, and no one is safe.

Now Wayne will need to uncover the truth behind the dark flock that waits outside… if the last of the survivors have any hope of making it through the night…
