[TV] Video Takes A Behind The Scenes Look At The VFX Of “The Walking Dead” Season 3

Season 3 of The Walking Dead is a distant memory. Well, not distant, but I get the sense that a lot of you would like to go ahead and forget that finale. But still, one of the things the show does right are its’ expert makeup and visual/cg effects.

To that effect, Stargate Studios has uploaded a video taking a quick look at how some of the season’s messiest kills were orchestrated. Even better? It’s scored to NIN’s “Heresy.”

[TV] A Few “Walking Dead” Players Get Bumped Up To Regulars

With the third season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” behind us, it’s time to start looking forward to Season 4. AMC and the creative team at the show has been doing just that by retaining a few emerging Season 3 characters as regulars for Season 4.

We already knew that for October’s return David Morrissey will return as a series regular as The Governor. The British actor initially signed on for a one-season role to play the famed villain from the comics created by Robert Kirkman on which the TV series is based. In the Image/Skybound comics, the Governor fails to survive a brutal showdown at the prison with Rick.

Now TVLine is reporting that “Chad L. Coleman and Sonequa Martin-Green, who recurred on Season 3 of The Walking Dead as Tyreese and Sasha, have been upgraded to series regulars for the fourth season of AMC’s zombie-apocalypse smash” They are also reporting that Emily Kinney, plays Hershel’s daughter Beth, is a regular now.

Excited to see these characters in Season 4?

[Interview] Dallas Roberts On The Scope Of “The Walking Dead” And The Mazzara/Gimple Showrunner Switch

Airing tomorrow. Sunday, March 31 is the season finale of The Walking Dead, episode 316 “Welcome to the Tombs.” I figured this would be as good of an occasion as any to post my interview with star Dallas Roberts who plays Milton Mamet on the show. We talked about the longterm effects of being on “The Walking Dead” and how the cast reacted to switching showrunners from Glen Mazzara to Scott Gimple for the upcoming fourth season.

In the ongoing third season, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his fellow survivors continue to seek refuge in a desolate and post-apocalyptic world and soon discover that there are greater forces to fear than just the walking dead. The struggle to survive has never been so perilous. Season 3 also introduced new characters, including the Governor (David Morrissey) and fan-favorite Michonne (Danai Gurira), along with her zombie pets.

The show was recently renewed for its fourth season. Head inside to see if Roberts can talk about it! READ MORE

[TV] It’s Official! Expect Plenty Of Witchy WTF Moments From “American Horror Story: Coven”!

Last night at Paleyfest creator Ryan Murphy announced that “American Horror Story: Season 3″ is now called “American Horror Story: Coven”. I’m sure we can expect plenty of the narrative non-sequiters we’ve come to expect along with lots of weird sexuality and general batshittery. And I’m stoked!!!

The only thing I’m still curious about it the time period, when does the main storyline take place? I’m dying for something present day again for some reason. We also know that the season will be more “female centric”, which I’ve got no problem with. And that Kathy Bates’ character will be more evil that anyone she’s ever playing, including Annie Wilkes, which I’m also OK with.

Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga will all star. It will shoot in New Orleans and air on FX.

[TV] Is Season 3 Of “American Horror Story” About Salem Witches? Perhaps With A Modern Day Twist?

Last week we reported that Kathy Bates had been added to the cast of “American Horror Story: Season 3″ as a character that used to be a friend of Jessica Lange’s character, but is now an enemy. Then a few days ago, Murphy spilled “Oh, Kathy’s never [played] someone this bad,” Ryan Murphy revealed to TVLine. “Her [character] is a bad, bad woman! Five times worse than [her] Misery character…When I pitched this to Kathy, her mouth was drop-jawed because what I was pitching actually happened. It’s a true event…” True event, huh?

Then at Paleyfest Dylan McDermott spilled, ““She really is. All the witches of Salem…there’s plenty of them!” That’s certainly in keeping with Murphy’s assertions that the season will be a more female-centric story. But what about his comments that Lange will be playing “glamour cat leading lady“. Did they really have those back in the day at Salem? I suppose it’s possible that he’s referring to how she would appear to others within the context of that time – but AHS just got done with a period season, and I was under the impression that they want to do something more modern day this time out. Of course, the “true event” factor sort of doubles back on that – maybe, and I’m just guessing here, there are two timelines in the show? One period and one modern?

Does that sound like something you’d be interested in? Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Kathy Bates Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga will all star.

[TV] Season 4 Of “The Walking Dead” To Feature Less Running And “More Character”, Also Rick Won’t Always Be Crazy

Season 4 of AMC’s The Walking Dead commences production in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday, May 6th. The current Season 3 is a high water mark for the historically spotty show in terms of both ratings and quality, so naturally more than a few folks are curious about the recent decision to replace the responsible showrunner, Glen Mazzara, with Scott M. Gimple (who may be even better – who knows).

Paleyfest, an annual event that offers some pretty great panels and roundtables with cast and creatives from various TV shows, held its “Walking Dead” event this past Friday and, per EW, there were some pretty interesting revelations about Season 4.

Head below to check it out! One thing to be thankful for, Rick will stop hallucinating at some point. READ MORE

[TV] Frances Conroy Back For “American Horror Story: Season 3″!

The casting for “American Horror Story: Season 3″ continues chugging along, this time with AHS vet Frances Conroy (“Six Feet Under”) back in tow. I really like how this is sort of a troupe, the setting may change but the performers are more or less consistent.

As he is wont to do, Ryan Murphy proclaimed on Twitter, “ Thrilled to announce the legendary Frances Conroy is on board for next season’s American Horror Story.

She joins returning cast members Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga. As previously reported, Season 3 will be more female centric and will have a love story in its dark, black and likely stunningly random, heart.

[TV] Guess Who’s Coming Back To “American Horror Story”

Ok, considering the photo above I suppose you already guessed. With American Horror Story: Asylum concluding tonight it’s never too early to start talking about next season. We already know that “American Horror Story: Season 3″ will feature returning cast members Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters. But in some great news it appears as if Taissa Farmiga is in talks to leap back into Murphy land.

Ryan Murphy proclaims (via EW), “ “I missed her this season. There wasn’t really a role for her. I feel very protective of her and I didn’t want her to go back into the loony bin—it was too dark. So I thought well ‘I want Taissa to be one of the leads next year.’ I called her up and pitched her the character for the season and she loved it and she said, ‘Yes let’s do it.’ So we’re in negotiations for her to headline season 3.

[TV] Next On “American Horror Story”, First Details Of Season 3 Revealed!!

With American Horror Story: Asylum concluding next Wednesday it’s (apparently) time to start discussing “American Horror Story: Season 3″ (I’m sure the new subtitle will come later). [TV] Next On “The Walking Dead”, Plus Scott Gimple Takes Over As Showrunner

AMC’s The Walking Dead returns in February to finish up its third season and will kick things off with 03.09 “The Suicide King”. The third promo video for the episode has just surfaced and it looks pretty intense!

In this season’s back-half, “With his group in tatters, his sanity in question, and his own son questioning his every move, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) must somehow pull everyone together to face their greatest challenge — the Governor (David Morrissey). In order to survive, he must risk everything, including the group’s very humanity.

You’ll also recall that just a month or two back showrunner Glen Mazzara left the program. This news was somewhat disconcerting seeing as he seemed to be one of the folks instrumental in revitalizing the show. Now Variety is reporting that series writer Scott Gimple is in talks to take over. Gimple wrote such episodes as “Hounded” and “18 Miles Out”. He also has a credit on Ghost Rider 2: Spirit Of Vengeance, but who knows how much of that he’s actually responsible for.

[TV] “American Horror Story” Renewed For Season 3! Jessica Lange To Return! What Should It Be Called?

Considering how well American Horror Story: Asylum,” is performing, and how enthusiastic the response has been from fans, it should come as no surprise that it’s been renewed for a third season. It should also come as no surprise that Jessica Lange will be back. In fact, I’d imagine that at least a few members of the ensemble will be returning seeing as many of them bridged the gap from Season 1 to “Asylum” already. Production of the untitled new cycle of AHS will begin next summer and premiere in the fall of 2013.

The first season of “American Horror Story” earned 17 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, tying for the most of any program this year and setting a record for the most Emmy nominations for a miniseries in basic cable history. Do you think the current season has a similar shot at glory?

Now here’s where we begin the guessing game. Where do you think the next season will take place? What location and time period? Who else should return? Since it will be an all-new plot again, what do you think the new season should be called? “American Horror Story: ???”
