A few days back I posted a list of 5 Horror Movies To Show Your Mom On Mother’s Day. I like that list, it’s fun. If you haven’t read it already, go for it. But after I was done I thought, “why didn’t I just go right to the source?”
Who’s the source? My own mother, of course. I figured, in the spirit of Mother’s Day, I’d give her a forum to sound off! So I got in touch with her and sent her a list of horror (and gory horror-ish) movies I know for a fact she’s seen. And, even though it had been years since she’d seen most of the items on the list, she remembered a surprising amount of them! The poor woman had to watch way too many of these films with me as a child (and even as an adult, on occasion). My big takeaway? Like the rest of us, she just doesn’t want to be bored.
Also? My Mom is awesome, whether or not we agree on movies. I have quoted her directly on these since it’s about time she had the floor. Head inside for 10 Horror Movies My Mom Hates (And Loves)!!! READ MORE
The thing about revisiting jump scares is, they’re just never quite as effective the second (or third, or fourth, or ninetieth) time around. So when putting together this list, I made a point of seeking out the ones that a) still have an effect on me, even after repeat viewings; b) boast some level of real craftsmanship beyond just “aahh! it’s dark! and there’s a cat! jumping!”; c) stick in the mind long after the initial scare has come and gone; and/or d) display some combination of the above traits.
So what did I come up with at the end of it all? Check out my final ten below, then log your own picks in the comments. READ MORE
Rapper Tech N9ne, who is heavily influenced by horror, is not one to rest on his laurels. Even though he just released the E.B.A.H. EP in September, he has announced that he will be releasing a new EP entitled Boiling Point on Oct. 30th. Though it’s not yet confirmed how many tracks will be featured on the EP, there are at least two with confirmed title names: “URALYA” and “Paint Your Pillowcase” (both of which will be produced by Seven). The EP can be pre-ordered here. You can see the album cover below. READ MORE
My credit card it about to get hit with a major dent thanks to Pixar illustrator Josh Cooley.
The mad genius has created a collection of R-rated movie scenes drawn in the style of children’s picture book. So what you have below is a gallery of scenes from the likes of Alien, The Shining, Silence of the Lambs, Seven and even Rosemary’s Baby. My personal favorite is Rosemary’s Baby as he gives Mia Farrow those “Disney eyes”.
“What have you done to it?” asked Rosemary.
“What have you done to its eyes?”
Alright Rancid fans, here is something you NEED to pay attention to! Tim Armstrong is going to be premiering Tim Timebomb’s RockNRoll Theater on VEVO tomorrow and you should definitely tune in! The first scripted program on VEVO, RockNRoll Theater will be an episodic series much in the vein of The Twilight Zone with Tim Armstrong narrating (think of him as a Rod Serling-esque kinda guy). However, not content to leave it at just that, the series will also feature dance numbers and musical performances, all written by Armstrong (think Glee only not lame). The pilot episode is a 21st century take on Dante’s Inferno and features Davey Havok (AFI) and Lars Frederiksen (Rancid).
After the jump you can check out a really entertaining trailer as well as download a song for free!
