Sevendust Announce New Album ‘Black Out The Sun’: Release Details

Metal band Sevendust have announced a Mar. 26th, 2013 release date for their ninth studio Black Out The Sun, which will come out through their own 7Bros. record label. The first single, “Decay,” will be released to radio and available for download at online retail outlets January 22, 2013.

Guitarist Clint Lowery told Guitar World, “There’s a dark turn to the whole thing…in a lot of ways, it’s your typical Sevendust record.” Guitarist John Connolly described the new music to Revolver as having “…a darker vibe…but there’s still plenty of melody. It fits right in with Animosity, Alpha and our self-titled album. Lots of heavy stuff and some more mellow moody songs as well.”

The first time I saw Sevendust was at the Metallica, Ted Nugent, Kid Rock show in Detroit on Millenium Night. Anyone else at that show? READ MORE

Lacuna Coil To Tour The US With Sevendust In Early 2013

Italian melodic hard rockers Lacuna Coil have announced an early 2013 US tour alongside Sevendust. The band will be touring in support of their most recent album Dark Adrenaline, which came out Jan. 23rd of this year. You can see the tour schedule below.

I’ve seen Lacuna Coil three times: once at Harpos in Detroit, once at the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland (along with Tapping The Vein and Daylight Dies!), and lastly at an acoustic show in downtown Ann Arbor at Borders store #1. Basically, I haven’t seen them since 2005, so it’d be interesting to check them out after all these years to see what their show is like now. READ MORE

Retro Review: Going To ’84 To Check Out Metallica’s ‘Ride The Lightning’

Sure, I could’ve chosen to do ‘Master Of Puppets’, but what’s the fun there? That album has been pored over and loved since its release. I wanted to do ‘Ride The Lightning’ for a couple of reasons. First of all, some of my favorite Metallica tracks are on here. Second of all, the album was released when I was a month old, so I feel a strange connection with it. It will all be arranged thru the interweb, and on the next tour I will personally meet our supporters out behind the trash dumpsters and fuck them, suck them, whatever they want. If they don’t want to do that, then I will have sex with something they own, like a dog, or a lunch-box. I will also be glad to rough-up anyone, ya know, smack ya around a bit, throw you in the garbage, hell even kick ya in the tummy….won’t kill ya though…want you to be able  to brag about it to your co-workers.”

Korn And Disturbed On ‘Music As A Weapon Tour 5′

Korn and Disturbed have teamed up for the fifth edition of the Music As A Weapon Tour with opening support coming from In This Moment, Hail The Villain, Art Of Dying, and Sevendust. The 45-city trek is finalizing tour dates but one guarantee is that the first 1,000 tickets sold at each venue will be discounted $5.

“We’ve both just finished great tours. We headlined Mayhem and Disturbed headlined Uproar. The Disturbed guys came out to see us play in Chicago and we got to talking about doing something together. We both agreed that as cool as those types of tours are, they usually only hit major markets, and we both agreed that a lot of our fans just don’t live in those cities, etc so we thought it would be cool to team up, put a big show together, and hit every great place that those big tours never get to. Besides all that, with us and Disturbed together, doing full shows with full production…all I can say is IT’S ON!” …said the excited Korn frontman.
“We are thrilled to launch the Monster Energy Music As A Weapon 5 Tour with our good friends from Korn,” added Disturbed singer David Draiman. “Every year we try to up the ante, and this year, by having Korn co-headline, we really think it’s going to be our best tour yet. When the idea first came up, one of the main things both bands agreed upon and wanted to focus on was hitting a lot of smaller markets. It’s exciting to bring a show like this to cities that are usually skipped over on some of the other larger rock tours that only hit the major markets. We have a lot of loyal fans in these cities and we wanted to bring them a show that they deserve”.
