5 Skull Review: ‘Shadowman’ #0

In Shadowman #0, Master Darque , the classic Valiant villain, finally gets a chance to steal the spotlight with an origin tale. Master Darque is one of the most infamous villains in the Valiant universe, and when dealing with a character of this magnitude it’s very easy for things to go awry, but writer Justin Jordan simply knocked this one out of the park. Shadowman #0 is one of the best issues to come out of the newly re-launched Valiant, and it is one of the best things you’ll read this month. READ MORE

Review: Shadowman #6

The initial story arc from Valiant’s re-launch of Shadowman breathed new life into this classic ’90s character, and writer Justin Jordan and artist Patrick Zircher did a great job of establishing a new mythos that they could build the character on. They also developed a stellar supporting cast for Jack Boniface to play off of, which offered readers another reason to care about what happens inside the pages of this book. With issue #6, writer Justin Jordan is really starting to find his rhythm on this book as he heads into the second story arc. READ MORE

Review: ‘Shadowman’ #2

The debut issue of the Shadowman re-launch from Valiant was quite impressive. The creative team of Justin Jordan and Patrick Zircher delivered a quality first issue and did a great job of incorporating the Shadowman mythos, building a strong supporting cast and delivering some fantastic action sequences. “Shadowman” #2 keeps up the quality and consistency from issue #1, which will tighten the hold that this series has on its readers. [NYCC '12] Sweet Horror Jazz ‘Shadowman’ Being Adapted!

Valiant Entertainment and The Mummy producer Sean Daniel are teaming up to turn the Valiant Comic Shadowman (one of my favorite comics as a kid) into a live action feature, Deadline reports. They’ve made a deal with J. Michael Straczynski to write the script.

Straczynski’s work ranges from writing/producing TV series that include Babylon 5 and Jeremiah, scripting films that include Thor, Ninja Assassin, Underworld Awakening and the Clint Eastwood-directed Changeling, and hatching comic books that include the Amazing Spider-Man and Superman: Earth One.

The film’s logline: “The forces of darkness are determined to claim New Orleans as their own, and Jack Boniface must accept the legacy he was born to uphold, in order to stop them. As Shadowman, Jack is about to become the only thing that stands between his city and an army of unspeakable monstrosities from beyond the night. He must pay a high price and master his new abilities before Master Darque brings down the wall between reality and the eldritch darkness of the Deadside.

“Shadowman” has sold millions of comic books sold and spawned two multi-platform video games.

The movie action comes as Valiant launches a new “Shadowman” comic book series to be released November 7, with Patrick Zircher (“Thor,” “Captain America”) and Justin Jordan (“Strange Talent Of Luther Strode”) at the helm. READ MORE

[Interview] Justin Jordan Talks Valiant’s Reboot Of ‘Shadowman’

We’ve professed our love of the re-launch of Valiant and proclaimed it to be one of the best things to happen to the comic industry thus far in 2012. Valiant has always made their number one goal to produce top notch quality comics and their 2012 launch has rewarded readers with some fantastic titles. “Harbinger”, “Bloodshot”, “Archer and Armstrong”, and “X-O Manowar” have already gained big followings, and Valiant looks to keep expanding their catalog.

In November, Valiant adds a bit of horror to their lineup with the re-launch of Shadowman by Patrick Zircher (“Captain America”, “Thor”) and Harvey Award-nominee Justin Jordan (“The Strange Talent of Luther Strode”).

Bloody-Disgusting caught up with writer Justin Jordan to discuss the reboot of one of Valiant’s classic characters. We dug our hooks into Jordon to find out how Jack Boniface has changed, which of members of the Shadowman rogue gallery will return, and just how much pressure there is on him and artist Patrick Zircher to deliver the goods.
