Today, The NRA Held A Press Conference Blaming Violent Media For The Newtown Massacre

The NRA has kept pretty quiet regarding the recent shootings in Newtown, Connecticut so as to keep attention as far away from them as possible. Now, they’re finally speaking up about the massacre, and in an unsurprising move, they’ve decided to point the blame at violent entertainment, including films, but specifically violent video games. In a press conference held earlier today, NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre decided the root of the problem is violent media, saying “there exists in this country a callous, corrupt and corrupting shadow industry that sells, and sows, violence against its own people.” He then went on to call out “vicious” video games like Bulletstorm, Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat, and Splatterhouse, as well as “blood-soaked slasher films like American Psycho and Natural Born Killers.” More after the break.

12 Dead And 50 Wounded At ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Shooting In Colorado

UPDATE: Several sources say the death toll has increased to 15.

A masked gunman opened fire last night at the “Dark Knight Rises” midnight premiere in Aurora, Colorado, leaving 12 dead and 50 wounded. 10 people died at the theater, and 2 more died in local hospitals. CNN reports that the police apprehended the suspect in the parking lot, and he was was heavily armed and wearing a bulletproof vest. The shooter is reported to be a 24-year-old male named James Holmes.
