[TV] Next On “Hannibal” See Eddie Izzard Play Anthony Hopkins In Episode 1.05 “Entree”

NBC’s “Hannibal” is a show that I’m definitely digging. Tonight’s episode, “Coquilles”, hasn’t aired in my time zone yet but I’m definitely digging the trajectory its on. Interestingly enough, it seems like Eddie Izzard is basically playing Anthony Hopkins’ version of the Hannibal character in next week’s episode 1.05 “Entree”, right on down to the mannerisms (not to mention the glass cell.

In the episode, “Jack (Laurence Fishburne) & Alana (Caroline Dhavernas) are contacted by a former colleague, Dr. Chilton, (Raul Esparza ) who believes he has The Chesapeake Ripper in custody, but then one of his patients commits a murder that matches The Ripper’s profile. The team determines the Ripper was a surgeon and is still at large when Jack’s former protégé Miriam (Anna Chlumsky) becomes the next victim. Jack copes with her loss and the prospect of losing his wife by opening-up to Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen).

The series focuses on the fledgling relationship between FBI agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), his mentor.” Other key cast members include Lance Henriksen (Near Dark, roughly 8% of horror movies in general), Gillian Anderson (“X-Files”), Gina Torres (“Firefly”), “Wonderfalls”’ Caroline Dhavernas and Ellen Muth (Dead Like Me).

[TV] This Bloody “Hannibal” Trailer Proves Networks Are Trying To Catch Up To Cable’s Violence

First “The Following” and now NBC’s “Hannibal”. Although the Hannibal Lecter centric show has the potential to be entertaining, it’s sort of weird to see this much gore in a network show. I’m not against it by any means – I just hope they know that there are several other qualities that set the AMC and HBO slate ahead of them creatively. Anyway, this still looks like it could be pretty good.

[TV] New Key Art For “Hannibal” Dry And Delicious

We’ve got some new key art for NBC’s “Hannibal” that looks sort of cool. Visually, I’d definitely say the marketing is looking to play up the campier elements of Lecter’s personality. Hey, gotta get to those people who only remember the “fava beans and a nice chianti” line from Silence Of The Lambs! We haven’t seen any of the actual show yet so the jury’s still out on that.

Take The Ultimate Horror Challenge!!! What’s Your Score?

This isn’t a list of every horror movie ever made. Nor does it contain every major work of every horror auteur (you’ll notice we didn’t include John Carpenter’s They Live or Wes Craven’s The Last House On The Left). Rather, this is a compendium of films that we feel – in one way or another – are essential viewing for every horror fan. Some are mainstream (Poltergeist), some aren’t (Cannibal Holocaust). It’s a broad sampling of key films from the genre.

But you don’t have to be a horror die-hard to take the challenge! If you’re comfortable being a “Soccer Mom”, simply clock how many of these you have (or haven’t) seen and let us know! There are 61 Films listed below the jump. Each film you’ve seen earns you 1 Point. Count out how many you’ve seen and let us know which category you fall into. [Random Cool] Pixar Illustrator Re-imagines R-rated Movie Scenes As a Children’s Picture Book!

My credit card it about to get hit with a major dent thanks to Pixar illustrator Josh Cooley.

The mad genius has created a collection of R-rated movie scenes drawn in the style of children’s picture book. So what you have below is a gallery of scenes from the likes of Alien, The Shining, Silence of the Lambs, Seven and even Rosemary’s Baby. My personal favorite is Rosemary’s Baby as he gives Mia Farrow those “Disney eyes”.

What have you done to it?” asked Rosemary.
What have you done to its eyes?

TV: “Clarice” Will Face Off Against “Hannibal” (Just Not On The Same Show)

Clarice Starling 52512 TV: Clarice Will Face Off Against Hannibal (Just Not On The Same Show)

MGM and the Lifetime Network are developing “Clarice”, a show that will follow the character of Clarice Starling as featured in Thomas Harris’ novels ‘The Silence Of The Lambs” and “Hannibal”. I’d expect this show to debut at midseason at the very earlier, if not (more realistically) Fall of 2013. No word on casting but of course Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore are pretty much guaranteed not to star.

Per TV Guide, “Clarice would follow the exploits of a young Clarice Starling soon after she graduates from the FBI academy. The show’s development comes as NBC preps the 13-episode series Hannibal, which also takes place in the world of author Thomas Harris’ Hannibal Lecter series of books. But Hannibal, from Bryan Fuller, won’t include the Clarice character, and instead focuses on the relationship between Hannibal and FBI criminal profiler Will Graham (played by Hugh Dancy).

This has almost nothing to do with Hannibal (except for taking place in the same universe) in which “One of the most fascinating literary characters comes to life on television for the first time: psychiatrist-turned-serial-killer, Dr. Hannibal Lecter. In this new drama from Bryan Fuller (“Pushing Daisies,” “Heroes”), based on the characters from Thomas Harris’ classic novels, we see where this incredible story began. Will Graham (Hugh Dancy, “The Big C”) is a gifted criminal profiler who is on the hunt for a serial killer with the FBI. Graham’s unique way of thinking gives him the astonishing ability to empathize with anyone – even psychopaths.

Thanks to BD Reader “James” for the heads up!
