Back again just like the past 2 years, and like always I want to know what YOU thought was the best horror game of 2009. Last year was a good race, and Dead Space narrowly beat out Left 4 Dead for the win. I could post a top 10 of my favorite horror games of last year, but I like it better when you guys do the work for me.
And now for my wonderous disclaimer. The games on this list are that that would reflect anything horror, sci-fi, bloody and or disgusting, gory, thrillerish, creepy, aliens, ghosts, zombies, vampires, plain old really weird stuff, stuff that is outside of “normal”, there are no Mario’s in this list, no Call Of Duty’s, these are the games people cringe at. The games some people are too scared to play. The games parents don’t want their kids playing. The games that we love here on BD.

Konami is introducing a new psychological profiling system to Silent Hill Shattered Memories simply known as “psych”. What exactly does this mean? We’ll get into that later. I’m a tease I know. What you need to know right now is that even though the game takes some key plot points and setting elements from the original Playstation release, Konami is planning on switching it up.
This re-imagining begins with a visit to a psychiatrist, who asks the player to answer a series of questions. From here on in, their every movement, reaction and response is monitored and the game tailored accordingly. READ MORE
“I’ve read your notes,” says a digital therapist to gamers. “The other therapist didn’t work out for you. We take this at your pace. We go back to the start so we can understand what happened. Let’s get started.”
These are the opening words of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, the new re-imagining of the class survival horror franchise from Konami. The company previewed the game yesterday at their E3 press conference.
Our protagonist, Harry Mason, is once again searching for his daughter Cheryl after she vanished in a car accident. When he goes to the house he remembers as his own, he discovers another couple inhabiting his home. The scene soon shifts to the hellish version of Silent Hill fans know, fear and love.

Not to get your hopes up, but no, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is not the next game in the series. BUT, it is a reworked version of the original Silent Hill game, originally released on the Playstation January 31, 1999. It will come out for the Nintendo Wii with reworked controls for to work hand in hand with the Wiimotes. Also being released on the PSP and Playstation 2 with more tradition controls. All 3 games will be developed my Climax, the company that did Silent Hill Origins.
While the game shares its twisting plot with the original PlayStation game, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories takes a different path in many, many ways. Characters can be approached but will offer different responses and be found in different places, while new clues and gameplay paths can be followed. The title follows Harry Mason, as he attempts to unravel the mystery of his missing daughter, Cheryl. A broken man, Mason’s investigations lead him to the mist-shrouded, snowy streets of Silent Hill: a malevolent town where the shadows play host to a wealth of evil, misshapen creatures. READ MORE
