William Brent Bell and Matthew Peterman – the duo behind Paramount’s The Devil Inside – have re-teamed to tell the story of a defense attorney named Kate Moore (Cook) who has set out to clear the name of a suspect in a brutal murder case. The lead, Talan, is accused of murdering an American family. While Talan appears to be gentle on the surface, his attorney soon learns that Talan is actually a werewolf.

Official: The story is set in Paris and follows an investigation of a gruesome slaying of a family. Sahay is a member of the defense team which learns its client (O’Connor), who is suspect in the slayings, is a werewolf.

Bloody Disgusting has learned that Epic Movie‘s Brian J. O’Connor (pictured) has landed the lead role opposite A.J. Cook in WER, the found footage werewolf flick shooting next month in Romania. Simon Quarterman (The Devil Inside) and Vik Sahay (American Reunion) round out the cast.

As previously reported, Cook star as “Kate Moore”, a defense attorney determined to clear the name of her client, “Talan Gwynek” (played by O’Connor), who is the main suspect in the grisly multiple slaying of an American family. While Talan appears to be gentle on the surface, his attorney soon learns that Talan is actually a werewolf.

As we previously reported, the FilmDistrict release takes place in Translyvania police station with the suspect turning into a werewolf.

The Devil Inside and Stay Alive‘s William Brent Bell will direct from a screenplay by longtime collaborator Matthew Peterman.

The Devil Inside

Her entire life, Isabella Torelli believed her mother brutally murdered three people because she was clinically insane. After being told the murders occurred during an exorcism she sets out to discover the truth. While documenting her experience with a film crew in Italy, she becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms.

Official: In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi
(Suzan Crowley) confessing that she had brutally killed three people. 20 years later, her daughter Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) seeks to understand the truth about what happened that night. She travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Italy where her mother has been locked away to determine if her mother is mentally ill or demonically possessed. When she recruits two young exorcists (Simon Quarterman and Evan Helmuth) to cure her mom using unconventional methods combining both science and religion, they come face-to-face with pure evil in the form of four powerful demons possessing Maria. Many have been possessed by one; only one has been possessed by many.

Paramount’s The Devil Inside has hit a certain saturation point (at least in Los Angeles) with its eerie billboards and provocative trailers. But the scope of the film apparently stretches out beyond the snippets we’ve been given. I recently hopped on the phone with Simon Quarterman, who plays Ben in the film, to get an idea of how this film sizes up against other recent exorcism movies (and found footage films in general). What he had to say made me hopeful that this film might set itself apart from the pack.
