[Toy Fair '12] Meet NECA’s New ‘Jason Voorhees’ Figures!

[Toy Fair 12] Meet NECAs New Jason Voorhees Figures!

It was the end of Jason Voorhees, at least until Jason Lives. NECA has unveiled an incredible new Jason figure inspired by Friday the 13th IV: The Final Chapter. The toy features the infamous machete wound to the head, with machete, knife and axe accessories. Oh, and his mask comes off to displays the exact same wound in Jason’s ugly mug. Geek boner? Yes please. Now all we need is a little Tommy Jarvis accessory!

In addition, they’ve also revealed a Jason from Friday the 13th Part 3, which features good ol’ Jason donning his mask for the first time. It comes with a harpoon accessory (you can shoot it in your eye just like in 3-D!) and varient mask.

Try And Move Into This Tiny UK ‘Cabin in the Woods’ Quad

cabinscreen120511 Try And Move Into This Tiny UK Cabin in the Woods Quad

Total Film posted this hilariously tiny version (seriously, it’s kind of amazing) of the UK quad poster for Lionsgate’s The Cabin in the Woods, Drew Goddard’s high-concept slasher premiering at SXSW before opening in theaters Friday, April 13.

A group of friends at a cabin retreat scratch the surface of something so massive and horrific that they can only begin to fathom it as time quickly runs out. If you think you know this story, think again. ‘Cabin in the Woods’ is a mind-blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out.

The pic was penned by Goddard and “Buffy” legend Joss Whedon. READ MORE

Clive Owen Loses Face On Official ‘Intruders’ Poster

Millennium Entertainment has provided Bloody with the official theatrical poster for Intruders, the super weak genre film arriving in theaters March 30. We caught it at last September’s TIFF and was not a fan (read the review). In a quasi-spoiler, the one-sheet teases that “The Nightmare Is Real,” which is absolutely hilarious considering the film’s twist…

Starring Clive Owen, Daniel Brühl, Carice Van Houten, Pilar López de Ayala, Ella Purnell, Izan Corchero and Kerry Fox, the faux (I mean this literally) supernatural thriller was directed by 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

Though no one can see him, Hollow Face lurks in the corners, desperately desiring love but only knowing how to spread fear and hate. He creeps into the life of John Farrow (Clive Owen) after Farrow’s beloved 13-year-old daughter Mia (Ella Purnell) is assaulted in their home. The line between the real and the imaginary blurs as fissures start to open within the family unit. It seems that no security measure can keep Hollow Face out.READ MORE

Off our radar and shared a few weeks back, MTV revealed a handful of new stills from My Super Psycho Sweet 16 Part 3, which was recently shot in Atlanta, GA.

Awkward’s Jillian Rose Reed is among the new cast members joining the franchise’s original stars, Lauren McKnight and Kirsten Prout. Ryan Sypek, Niko Pepaj, Ben Winchell, Onira Tares and Autumn Dial will round out the movie’s cast.

They decide to pay Alex a visit and find out that her Sweet 16 is that very evening. And, you can imagine what that means… teen bloodshed.

Produced by Pop Films, the creative team behind the first two movies returns for the third installment, as well. They include director Jacob Gentry, screenwriters Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, executive producers Maggie Malina and Alexander Motlagh, and co-producer Chris White. READ MORE

‘Texas Chainsaw’ and ‘Friday the 13th’ Director Takes On ‘Hack/Slash’

Texas Chainsaw and Friday the 13th Director Takes On Hack/Slash

Marcus Nispel – who directed last summer’s horrid Conan the Barbarian, along with New Line Cinema’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th remakes – has come aboard to helm the long gestured Hack/Slash, Relativity’s adaptation of a horror-action comic book.

“Hack/Slash,” created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, “centers on Cassie Hack, a woman who symbolizes the cliché of the lone girl who survives at the end of every horror movie. In this case, the girl not only survived but has become a killer of killers. Hack travels across the country hunting slashers in the vein of ‘Halloween’s Michael Myers, ‘Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees and ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddy Krueger, along with a hulking protector named Vlad.

The project has seen several writers and directors come and go since it first was set up at Universal’s now-deceased genre division Rogue Pictures, which later was acquired by Relativity. THR reports. READ MORE

‘III’ Trailer Shows Tarantino Inspiration, Promises Lovecraftian Twist!

Indie filmmaker Trey Howell has released a concept trailer for his in-production slasher III that will have you drooling for more.

Details are slim, but the film is described as “a hybrid of a slasher film with a creature feature twist in the vein of H.P. Lovecraft.” TBA Productions is using practical effects to maximize a 3-D version of the movie and is filming in 2-D simultaneously.

The official website explains that III‘s story and visual aesthetic is drawn from the classic slasher and creature features from the late seventies and eighties. Rather than having female characters incarnated as bimbos running helplessly up the stairs, they have been scripted as strong female leads which fight back against their attackers; similar to films like The Descent and High Tension.

Robert Dough, Rachel Swindler, Blake Gardner, Amy Chadwell, Braxton Williams, Carri Schwab, and Ty Trumbo all star. READ MORE

Hot Genre Writer Does Polish Of Neil Marshall’s ‘Hellfest’

Gary Dauberman, who established a reputation for himself as New Line’s go-to writer for production work on horror projects (he did revisions on the most recent Final Destination and Nightmare on Elm Street movies), has been brought on to polish CBS Films’ Hellfest, TheWrap has learned.

Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers, Doomsday, Centurion) is directing the movie.

According to CBS, “the film is about a Halloween night of fun that turns deadly at America’s premiere horror-themed park when an actual costumed serial killer begins slaying patrons who believe it’s all part of the show.

CBS is hot on the project, which is hopes to start shooting this summer and turn into a franchise.

Mandate and Ghost House Pictures recently brought Dauberman on to polish Burst, a spec he brought the companies. Meanwhile, his Crawlspace, set up at New Line, is out to directors. New Line has targeted the movie for production this year.

Gale Anne Hurd, the renowned producer of “The Walking Dead”, The Terminator, The Abyss and Armageddon, among others – and who wrote The Terminator – is producing through her Valhalla Entertainment.

Cerebral Slasher Heads to ‘Slew Hampshire’

Cerebral Slasher Heads to Slew Hampshire

Starring Dayo Okeniyi and directed by Flood Reed comes a new cerebral slasher, Slew Hampshire, which now has a trailer and official Facebook page. The footage is after the break, with a ton of posters and images at the Facebook link.

In April of 1994, one of the most brutal mass slaughters in history occurred in the woods of northern New England. Four months later, history is about to repeat itself.

The end of summer signals the brink of manhood for a group of 18-year-old boys who pridefully call New Hampshire their home. Led by Buddy – once regarded as a major league pitching prospect – the boys embark on a local rite of passage, traveling north for one final weekend of debauchery in Canada. Unfortunately, it may just be their final weekend, period – as this rite goes very wrong. Along the way, the boys pick up Bro, their most intelligent – and only African American – friend, who is about to embark on an academic career at Dartmouth College. Where his right hand once resided is now a stump, and while this painful reminder of a terrible accident signifies a darker time, little does he realize what it will come to signify to those whom he encounters in the backwoods of New Hampshire.

Henry David Thoreau once wrote, “Not till we are completely lost or turned ’round do we appreciate the vastness and strangeness of nature.” Unfortunately for the boys, just being lost would be a luxury compared to what they are about to experience – as there is nothing to be appreciated about what nature has in store for them on this night. What begins as a humorous comedy of errors quickly becomes a Darwinian gore fest, and what unfolds is a cerebral yet repulsive journey through the history and nature of humanity and “civilization.” With four distinct clans vying for supremacy and survival in the woods of New Hampshire, less than 24 hours will pass before a slew of lives have been claimed and the last of the living remains.READ MORE

Evil Turns to Ash in Italian ‘Intruders’ One Sheet

One of the worst films I’ve seen in 2011 is 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s (unintentionally) faux supernatural horror film Intruders (review), which premiered at the TIFF this past September.

Starring Clive Owen, Daniel Brühl, Carice Van Houten, Pilar López de Ayala, Ella Purnell, Izan Corchero, and Kerry Fox, the story centers on an 11-year-old girl who is forced to confront childhood demons.

While Millennium Entertainment is releasing here in the States next April, Italy gets it this September while it’s already burning people’s eyes in Spain. Check out the italian one sheet after the break. It pretty much says it all (it looks like Constantine a bit).

Juan and Mia, two children who live in different countries, are visited every night by a faceless intruder – a terrifying being that wants to get hold of them. These presences become more powerful and start ruling their lives as well as their families’. Anxiety and tension increase when their parents also witness these apparitions.READ MORE

Lionsgate has released their first official trailer for the hotly anticipated The Cabin in the Woods, their high concept slasher arriving in theaters Friday, April 13, 2012. And while the average moviegoer may need a heft of footage to get their ass into a theater seat, all we need to hear is that it’s a slasher from Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard and Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Weadon. Footage? We don’t need it, which is why I implore you to avoid watching the spoiler-filled trailer that reveals more than a lot.

But if you insist on continuing forth, Lionsgate has undoubtably assembled an array of footage that’s sure to pique your interest and have you asking more questions than when all you knew was that this was the “slasher to end all slashers.” The official plot tease goes like this: “A group of friends at a cabin retreat scratch the surface of something so massive and horrific that they can only begin to fathom it as time quickly runs out. If you think you know this story, think again. ‘Cabin in the Woods’ is a mind-blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out.
