Megadeth hits the road again this week for the 20-city U.S. Jägermeister Fall Music Tour, featuring 1991′s original American “Clash of the Titans” lineup: Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax.
Check out a new video from Megadeth’s lead vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine as he talks about what you can expect from the band on the tour, including details about what is sure to be an epic set list.
Canada’s BAPTIZED IN BLOOD are set to storm out of their native Canada and mount a takeover of American metal audiences when they release their self-titled, debut full-length for Roadrunner via digital retailers nationally on October 19. The band will also play alongside A Life Once Lost at the CMJ Music Marathon Metal Sucks Showcase, which will be held October 20 at Club Europa. Baptized in Blood have already turned the discerning head of a metal icon, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, who was so impressed that he has taken on the role of co-manager for the London, Ontario-based band, alongside Mark Adelman.
Additionally, Mike D of Dark Icon Design, who also serves as the bassist for Killswitch Engage, designed the album artwork. While Baptized in Blood may have friends in high places, the band doesn’t rely on those associations; the five-piece delivers the goods with their bottom heavy, unrelenting metallic assault. Baptized in Blood are a classic Roadrunner signing that remains true the label’s long-standing history as the standard bearer of the best in hard rock and metal.
Megadeth’s Rust In Peace Live Blu-ray, DVD and CD (Shout! Factory), captured on the final night of Megadeth’s historic Rust In Peace 20th anniversary tour at the legendary Hollywood Palladium, is available in stores now.
Fans can get a taste of what the Rust In Peace Live releases have to offer by watching a clip of the Megadeth classic “Hangar 18” below.
Rust In Peace Live marks the return of original bassist David Ellefson (Megadeth 1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group after eight years. Ellefson (bass) joins Mustaine (lead vocals, guitar), Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar). The Blu-ray, DVD and CD feature the entire Rust In Peace track listing, including all-time classics “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due” and “Hangar 18” along with bonus fan favorites from the rest of Megadeth’s catalog, including “Symphony Of Destruction,” “Peace Sells” and “Skin O’ My Teeth.”
Bloody-Disgusting is thrilled to show you this exclusive interview with David Ellefson, original bassist of Megadeth! This interview was conducted on the American Carnage tour, which features the badass lineup of Testament, Megadeth, and Slayer. Coming up in a few weeks, the second leg of the American Carnage Tour will kick in with Anthrax replacing Testament. At that point, we have three out of the four needed for the Big Four tour (which David chats about in the interview). Make sure to check out the interview after the jump to hear his thoughts on Megadeth, horror, and the Big Four tour!
Jagermeister, the brand known for decades of involvement with rock and metals bands, continues to own the concert circuit with the announcement of the 2010 Fall Jagermeister Music Tour, North America’s biggest thrash tour in 20 years with the 1991 original “Clash of the Titans” lineup – Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. The brand’s 17th Music Tour will bring three of the hardest hitting metal bands in the world to one stage and will feature complete performances of Slayer’s much lauded Seasons In The Abyss album from 1990, Megadeth’s landmark 1990 album Rust In Peace, and the return of Anthrax’s singer Joey Belladonna. The tour kicks off September 24 and will play 20 venues across the nation.
“I’ve been working with Jagermeister since 2004 to try to make the first Jagermeister Music Tour Trifecta happen,” said guitarist Kerry King of Slayer. ”I always have such a killer time on the Jagermeister Music Tour, and this time we’re coming through with Megadeth and Anthrax so you know everyone will be on the top of their game for these shows.” Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine adds, “It is a rush to finally be a part of the Jagermeister Music Tour!”
“Slayer has been a long time friend and supporter of the brand,” says Bill Henderson, Senior Vice President Marketing and Advertising at Sidney Frank Importing Company, Inc. ”Jagermeister has been sponsoring them since 2001 and named them as headliner of both the 2003 and 2004 Fall Music Tours. It is great to work with them again and know that adding Megadeth and Anthrax to the program will make this a tour to remember.”
A few weeks ago, we ran an article talking about the Big Four (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax) tour that ran through Europe earlier this year. One of those concerts was streamed live into theaters as a 4-hour event that even caused a riot at one theater. It was seen by over 100,000 fans, according to Billboard.com. Well, it’s been officially announced that the streamed concert is coming to DVD/Blu-Ray!
“As previously reported, Universal Music will release the “The Big Four” regular-edition single DVD and “The Big Four” deluxe-edition two-DVD/five-CD package in Japan on October 13. The deluxe edition includes an event poster, a poster from each band (four posters total) and guitar pick (subject to change). The box size is 20.5 x 15 x 4cm (subject to change). “
I already have a spot reserved on my DVD wall for this. What about you guys?

Angels Of Babylon drummer and Nashville, TN native Rhino began compiling tracks featured on Kingdom of Evil many years ago, but was patiently waiting for the optimum lineup to record and release an album. Rhino is well known for his amazing work with Manowar. In 1991, Rhino appeared on The Triumph of Steel; one of Manowar’s best selling album to date. Rhino continued on with Manowar, touring Europe multiple times and cruising through Japan between 1992-1995. Rhino left Manowar in 1995 to pursue personal interest. In the coming years, Rhino was soon introduced to Fefolt, Ellefson and Brosh, and they provided the key to his inspiration to forge ahead and complete the album.

Testament are uniting with devoted fans every night on the road with their exclusive American Carnage Tour VIP packs, and shredding on stage with the original Clash of the Titans line-up. “New thrash fans that only heard rumors and never were able to witness Clash of the Titans will be delighted because all three bands are just as heavy and lethal as ever, if not more,” states guitarist Eric Peterson. “Old school thrash fans, if you missed the line-up before, you don’t want to miss this!”

The tireless and tour-hungry hardcore loyalists in LA’s Terror, spearheaded by the endless enthusiasm of frontman Scott Vogel, have returned with a vicious new chapter to their storied career. The much anticipated new album, Keepers of The Faith, is a worldwide call to the community and an attempt to hear back from the faithful on the front lines.
Keepers of The Faith is 13 new tracks produced by Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory (A Day To Remember, H2O) at Buzzbomb Studios in Orange County, CA. It was engineered by Paul Miner (Death By Stereo, Adamantium) and mixed by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Hatebreed). Vogel sums it all up, “This is the record we put everything we have into, from the music to the lyrics, the layout to the title and to the direct hand to hand street marketing approach, we are putting it all on the line. We took all the rules of what’s going on in the industry today and washed them from our minds. We wanted to capture those early days of hardcore. This is the record we were destined to make. This is Terror at its best and I’m so excited to get this out and start touring surrounding its energy and passion.”

The “Big Four”, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax are bringing their historic European tour to the global stage by beaming the event via satellite to movie theaters around the world in a special HD cinematic event. These four legendary acts broke out of the underground thrash movement in the 1980’s to dominate the metal world, selling millions of records and packing arenas across the globe. Despite huge demand, these musical giants have never shared the same stage until now. The legendary June 22nd concert from the tour’s stop of the Sonisphere Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria will air the same day in over 450 theaters in more than 140 markets in the U.S., as well as beamed into theaters in Europe, Canada and Latin America. Delayed screenings are planned in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Tickets for “The Big Four: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax” go on sale starting today Friday, May 21st in the U.S. and internationally starting Friday, May 28th at participating theater box offices and at www.thebigfourlive.com, where fans can also view the event cinema trailer.
In December 2009, the bands announced that they would be joining forces to take part in the traveling Sonisphere Festival for only 7 shows across Europe. Now, this one-time only event from the Sofia show makes it possible for fans far and wide to participate in what otherwise is a very limited run of dates. The high-definition concert presentation will memorialize the event and the impact will be amplified globally with the cinema screenings, making the dreams of fans around the world over become a reality.
Witchery’s line-up reads like the who’s who of Swedish Metal: Jensen (guitars) plays with The Haunted; solo-guitarist Rickard Rimfält for Séance; bass player Sharlee D’Angelo is in charge of the deep end of Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars; while drummer Martin Axe hits the skins of Opeth and Bloodbath. The upcoming album Witchkrieg, set for a June 29th North American release, features the debut of new vocalist Legion (ex-Marduk, ex-Devian) and an army of the best metal guitarists. The fretboard wizardry of Kerry King (Slayer) crowns “Witchkrieg,” the opener and title track.
Guitar player Jensen had met Kerry in 1999 on the first U.S. tour of his band in Los Angeles after the WITCHERY show at The Whiskey. “He came on our bus and we partied all night long. We played air guitar while listening to old Rainbow records,” Jensen remembers. “At the Roskilde Festival in Denmark I bumped into him again. I played him the song, he listened to it three times straight and said: ‘Yeah, I’ll do it.’

Already buy your American Carnage tickets? Well, I’ve got some bad news for all of you who were expecting to check out Slayer, Megadeth, and Testament starting later this month… Tom Araya’s years of banging his head have taken their toll and despite trying to avoid surgery, he’s biting the bullet and doing what needs to be done.
In the beginning he didn’t want to take the major surgery route, so a specialist recommended a series of minimally-invasive procedures. While those procedures have resulted in some improvement, Araya continues to deal with intermittent bouts of severe pain, numbness and muscle spasms. The surgical procedure that Araya will undergo, called an Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion (which sounds like it could be the title for a new Slayer song), is a relatively routine practice and the recovery rate is excellent.
Booking agents for both Slayer and Megadeth are already hard at work to see if these dates can be rescheduled, so those holding tickets are asked to sit tight as more info will be announced as progress is made. READ MORE
Nothing is scarier than the mosh pit at a Slayer show.
There are broken limbs flying everywhere, blood splattering and sweaty heavy metal heathens chanting the devil’s praises…It’s the most beautiful kind of metallic massacre, and these four thrash metal titans have been proudly igniting mosh pits for well over two decades. Their latest offering, World Painted Blood, only continues that bone-shattering legacy with more riffs blessed by Beelzebub himself and lyrics that nightmares are made of.
Slayer’s axe architect, the legendary Kerry King, sat down with Bloody-Disgusting.com’s Rick Florino for this interview about his favorite horror flicks.
Metallica updated their official site today with some news many of us have been waiting YEARS to hear. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax will perform together for the first time ever.
From Metallica’s website: “You’ve been posting and chatting about it for months and we’re here now to confirm it . . . Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax will all share the same stage for the first time EVER! Look for the four of us at the Sonisphere shows in Warsaw, Poland and Prague, Czech Republic on June 16 and 19, 2010 with a few more of the festival dates still in the works, you can be sure these shows won’t be the only ones.
In the words of Lars: “Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal’s big 4 would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but will now play together for the first time…what a mindfuck! Bring it on!”
The guys over at Metal Hammer posted some cool SLAYER wallpapers, seems Tom Araya has bigger things to worry about than a sore back. Get more of these gruesome images and the complete story behind SLAYER’s ‘World Painted Blood’ in the new issue of Metal Hammer – on sale Wednesday!
Rumors have been swirling around for a while now about SLAYER and MEGADETH teaming up for a 2010 tour, and today it was made official. They’ll kick things off January 18 in Seattle. Remember the ‘Clash of the Titans’ tour in 1991 when SLAYER and MEGADETH last toured together? Me either, but the bands decided to pretend it’s still 1991 and put our wallets at ease by selling a chunk of tickets at $10 a pop.
