[Indie Horror Spotlight] 50 Shades Of Slender Man

In this very special – how special? This special (you can’t see it, but my arms are really wide right now) – episode of ‘Adam Plays’, where I don’t actually play anything. The angry, ancient Halo 4-obsessed man that is my father plays Slender: The Arrival, and, get this, Slender Man nearly catches him after the first page.

If you like watching an old man awkwardly maneuver around doors for 14 minutes while yelling at the computer because his character doesn’t run fast enough, the scariest thing about this video is how much I think you’re going to love it.

[Indie Horror Spotlight] Adam Plays ‘Slender: The Arrival’

I like to fancy myself an enthusiast of the horror genre. I’m experienced, desensitized, some might say. For some reason, all that experience goes out the window when I play a game like Slender: The Arrival — the “reimagining” of Mark Hadley’s The Eight Pages, which you probably remember taking the Internet by storm last summer. It’s a collaborative effort between Hadley, Blue Isle Studios, and Marble Hornets creators Joseph DeLage, Troy Wagner and Tim Sutton. It’s terrifying. If you’d like a good laugh, feel free to watch me try and play it after the jump.

There’s No Escaping This New Trailer For ‘The Legend’

Finally we get to really see what this game looks like.

I appreciate a creepy teaser every now and then, but I’ve been itching to see what this indie horror game actually looks like for some time now. The Legend is powered by the CryEngine 3 — the same engine the Crysis series uses — so I hoped this would look great. After seeing some gameplay footage, I’m not disappointed. Check it out after the break.

Grab Some Popcorn And Turn Off The Lights, ‘The Slender Man’ Movie Is Here!

The Super Movie Bros. produced indie horror film The Slender Man has been made available online, because as its creator says, “The Slender Man belongs to the internet.” Slenderman started in a forum thread back in 2009 before going on to inspire several terrifying web series like Marble Hornets, to video games like Mark Hadley’s Slenderman: The Eight Pages, to films. He’s seen a bit of a renaissance in video games lately with numerous indie developers jumping on the success of Hadley’s indie horror hit. From the looks of it, this dapper creature may see a similar surge in popularity in films as well — just don’t confuse this with the other Slenderman movie that’s releasing this summer. I have the full movie waiting for you after the jump, just make sure your doors are locked before you press play.

This ‘Slender: The Arrival’ Beta Footage Isn’t For Those Who Get Easily Motion Sick

If you get easily motion sick, are prone to seizures, or are inflicted with a combination of the two (you poor thing), the following footage taken from the Slender: The Arrival beta, which was recently made available, probably isn’t for you. Actually, it really isn’t for you, because it’s essentially eleven minutes of someone running through the woods at night complete with weird noises and the shakiest of shaky cams. This puts The Blair Witch to shame, but I’ll still play it. Check it out after the break.

[Random Cool] Isaac Clarke, Slenderman, And The Master Chief Go 8-Bit

Ever wonder what some of your favorite video game protagonists — or in the case of Slenderman, antagonists — would look like on an NES? Wonder no more, as Deviant Artist MelolzuGaming has taken it upon himself to answer that very own question. Among his gallery of 8-bitified video game characters are Isaac Clarke from Dead Space, Halo’s Master Chief, Street Fighter’s Ryu, a lone zombie, and Slenderman of… well, pretty much every indie horror game coming out in the near future, actually. I have only one complaint about the characters so far, but let’s take a look at them first before I get into that.

I Can’t Tell If Someone Is Singing Or Dying In This New ‘Faceless’ Trailer

Today’s shaping up to be a day of Slenderman, but I think I’m all right with that. I just need to make sure the lights stay on and my back stays firmly pressed against this wall so that tall bastard come up behind me and drag me to wherever it is Slenderman takes his victims. Faceless (originially Slender: Source) is one of many games that have been inspired by Mark Hadley’s indie success, Slender: The Eight Pages. What really sets this game apart is its focus on co-op. You enter the game world alone, separated from your friends, so you’ll need to find them quickly or die alone. The game features proximal voice chat, so you can only communicate within a certain distance, and it will also come with FGD support, allowing for user created multiplayer maps.

If you haven’t already, I suggest voting for Faceless on Steam Greenlight, you can find it here. Check out a brand spanking new trailer for it after the break, along with the official teaser, in case you missed it the first time around.

Ambitious Indie Horror Game ‘Haunt’ Takes Slenderman To A Terrifying New Level

The runaway success of Mark Hadley’s indie horror game Slender: The Eight Pages has inspired a Slenderman renaissance, of sorts. On Steam Greenlight, you’ll find Huntsman: The Orphanage, The Legend, and the co-op centric Faceless, among others. There’s also Survivers (though it’s not very good), White Noise: A Tale of Horror on XBLA, and we can’t forget Blue Isles’ Slender: The Arrival, a reimagining of the game that started it all.

Haunt may very well end up blowing those games out of the water. Where some games have only tried to replicate the success of The Eight Pages, this project takes the essence of what made that game great (namely, being alone and hunted) and evolves it. Visually, it’s stunning, especially for an indie game. It’s also super ambitious, featuring a story-driven adventure and a massive world to explore. Check it out after the jump.

Slender: The Arrival is something that you should have on your radar, if you don’t already. It’s the follow-up to Mark Hadley’s indie hit The Eight Pages, and it’s being developed by Blue Isle Studios with help from Mark Hadley and the team behind the amazing Marble Hornets web series. It looks like Slenderman won’t be the only thing hunting you in this game, too. Check it out after the jump.

‘Marble Hornets’ Creators To Lend Their Talents To ‘Slender: The Arrival’

I hope you’re ready for some great news. Writers Joseph DeLage, Troy Wagner and Tim Sutton — creators of the popular Marble Hornets web series based on the Slenderman mythos — have joined the development team at Blue Isle Studios to craft an interesting fiction around the upcoming reimagining of Mark Hadley’s insanely popular indie horror game Slender: The Eight Pages. The Arrival takes everything that made the original game such a terrifying hit and expands it with new levels, vastly improved visuals, and more to do than collecting pages. Now it looks like the game will have an interesting story to go with it too. If you haven’t watched the Marble Hornets series, I recommend doing so immediately, because it’s terrifying. Just make sure you have the lights off and the sound up. More after the jump.
