So, we’re at the end of another year and we here at Bloody-Disgusting love sharing our favorites (and our most hated) of the past year with you. So, I decided to put together a list of some of my favorite releases of the past year. Here’s the catch: I only used albums or songs from albums I reviewed in 2010. So, check after the jump for my “Best of 2010″!
Progressive metal band Symphony X are hard at work on their follow-up to 2007′s ‘Paradise Lost’. However, that hasn’t stopped them from planning a full US headlining tour in 2011 with some amazing touring partners. Joining Symphony X will be Nevermore, Soilwork, Powerglove, and Blackguard. Tickets can already be pre-ordered here. Check after the jump for tour dates and keep an eye out for me at the Detroit show.

All That Remains will release For We Are Many, one of the most anticipated metal album on the year, on October 12th through Prosthetic Records / Razor & Tie. The album was recorded this spring at Zing Studios in Massachusetts and produced by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, who also handled This Darkened Heart and The Fall of Ideals. Vocalist Phil Labonte told Revolver Magazine in their August issue, “Fans of Overcome won’t be disappointed, but the disc will also offer new twists and turns.” 2008′s Overcome, All That Remains’ last studio album, has sold nearly 240,000 copies to date, debuting at #16 on the Billboard 200, and yielding the Top 10 active rock smash “Two Weeks.”
While fans wait for the new album, they fan find several of their favorite songs from the band’s latest album Overcome on the Rock Band Network for the Xbox Marketplace. The songs that are now available for download are “Days Without,” “Undone,” and “Forever In Your Hands.”
Since the break-up of symphonic metal band After Forever, fans have been eagerly awaiting the new Floor Jansen project, ReVamp. Possessing one of the strongest voices in the genre, Floor’s classical training allows her vocals to soar from low growls to operatic heavenly heights. But in order to take full advantage of this voice, you need a band that can back it up. So the question begs, does the self-titled debut release from ReVamp measure up? Check after the jump to find out!

Soilwork is back with their eighth studio album, ‘The Panic Broadcast’. I’ve been listening to Soilwork since ‘Natural Born Chaos’ and have always enjoyed their albums, even though the past few have been a bit lackluster. So, when a new album was announced, it wasn’t even a question as to whether or not I was going to pick it up, it was just a plain fact. So, after two and a half years since their last album, ‘Sworn To A Great Divide’, how is Soilwork holding up? Check afterwards for my official review.

Guitar World magazine has posted an interview

One band that I always enjoy listening to, Soilwork, have posted ‘Two Lives Worth of Reckoning’ off their new album, ‘The Panic Broadcast’, on their MySpace. I’ve checked it out and I’m loving it so far! It’s heavy but with great melody and singer Bjorn Strid is still impressing me with his vocal range. Plus, the production sounds incredibly tight. If this is what I’m to expect from the new album, count me in!
Mutiny Within continue to live their lives on the road, converting one fan at a time to their modern blend of progressive metal the old fashioned way: through lots of touring. It’s going to be incredibly busy spring and summer seasons for the New Jersey band, which released its self-titled debut in February, who will pound the pavement alongside Sonata Arctica, beginning April 2. The tour will run for four weeks. The six-piece will follow up the Sonata Arctica trek with a spate of dates that will be announced imminently, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
Next, the band will join Soilwork on that band’s summer tour, which kicks off July 14 and runs through August 15.
