It’s Friday, I’m in Montreal for Fantasia Film Fest and it’s hotter than hell out here. Seriously, I’m losing weight at a record pace simply from sweating. For some reason, that reminded me of one of my favorite music videos from my childhood: Soundgarden‘s “Black Hole Sun”, which comes from their fantastic 1994 album Superunknown. The video features some of the most mind-bending and offsetting surrealism that I can remember from that era. Music videos these days can only try to match the feelings I had when I first saw this on MTV (yeah, we’re going WAY back in time here to a point when MTV actually played videos). Let the following .GIF entice you to head on down!
Hard rockers Motionless In White have released a lyric video for “America”, which comes off their Infamous album. A full music video will be released next month and was directed by Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan. The video can be seen below.
The band has also announced that The Witch Was Right drummer Brandon Richter has joined their ranks. The band is currently on a tour with Asking Alexandria and will also be appearing on the 2013 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. All tour dates can be found below. READ MORE
Funny Or Die has posted a pretty entertaining “documentary” on the grunge rock band Alice In Chains. Narrated and hosted by Alan Poole McLard, a “Film Studies Professor at a community college” (nope, doesn’t say which one), the documentary follows McLard as he attempts to interview the members of AiC regarding the upcoming release of their latest album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. While the majority of the documentary is McLard chatting with nobodies, some notable musicians do make an appearance, including Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Lars Ulrich and Rob Trujillo (Metallica), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), and more. There’s definitely a chuckle or two to be had in the video below. READ MORE
The Carolina Rebellion music festival will be headlined this year by Alice In Chains on May 4th and Soundgarden on May 5th. Other acts include Deftones, Three Days Grace, 3 Doors Down, Volbeat, and many more. The event will take place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.
“After wrapping up our last U.S. tour, we were planning on recharging our batteries for awhile, but we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play with the mighty Soundgarden in what will be one of the only shows we’ll play in the U.S. this year,” says Tim Mcllrath of Rise Against.
Michael Poulsen of Volbeat comments, “In Europe and the U.S., we have enjoyed the experiences that come from being a part of the festival environment, just as the fans do. Looking forward to Carolina Rebellion!”

Grunge rock band Soundgarden have released a new video for their track “By Crooked Steps, which comes off their latest album King Animal. The video was directed by Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Them Crooked Vultures) and features the bands as a mock motorcycle gang who rides Segways, kicks a DJ off of his turntables in order to perform a rock show, and then lead the police on a “chase”. There is also a cameo from electronic artist Deadmau5. You can watch the video below. READ MORE
The line up for the 2013 edition of Rock On The Range has been announced and it’s basically full of bands that I would punch a few puppies to see. Gavin Rossdale of Bush comments, “Bush are thrilled to be playing Rock On The Range with such great bands. We look forward to seeing you all out there.” READ MORE
In the 16th episode of “Aural Pleasures,” Señor Adam Dodd leaves both Jonny and Bill hanging on their own. While Jonny was unaware of the circumstance surrounding Adam’s need to bow out of this podcast, Bill was told the entire story. Without going into too many details, let’s just say that it involves Adam’s wife (he’s married?!?!), his clothes, and a poorly written work excuse note.
Left on their own, Bill and Jonny discuss several new albums that came out recently, including the new Deftones (read Jonny’s review here, the new Flyleaf (another shameless review plug here), and Bill’s take on the new Soundgarden. The guys then chat for a bit about Lamb Of God singer Randy Blythe and the possibility of his return to the Czech Republic, followed by their thoughts on what the best live rock album is. After a bit more, they fellas round it off by adding to Adam’s list of albums he has to listen to and, lastly, give some suggestions.

Grunge band Soundgarden have announced a Nov. 13th release date for King Animal, their first new album in 16 years. The band has also released a video trailer and the album artwork, both of which can be seen below as well as the album track listing. The album can be pre-ordered via Amazon.
I’ll be 100% honest and say that the only album of theirs I really listened to was Superunknown. However, if “Live To Rise” is any indication of what’s to come, I’m not exactly holding my breath. I’ll definitely be checking King Animal out but I’m not allowing my expectations to get too high. READ MORE
Today is apparently the day to release new music videos. Below you’ll find new videos from Soundgarden, Jeffrey Nothing (Mushroomhead), and Job For A Cowboy.
Soundgarden’s video is for Live To Rise, the first new track from the band in over 15 years. The song appears on the soundtrack to the upcoming film The Avengers, which hits theaters this Friday. The song will NOT appear on the upcoming Soundgarden album as it was recorded specifically for the film.
Jeffrey Nothing’s Sin O’ Cism comes off his debut album, The New Psychodalia. Revolver has an interview with him about the meaning of the song here.
Job For A Cowboy’s Imperium Wolves lyric video comes from their latest album Demonocracy, which came out April 10th via Metal Blade Records. READ MORE

Inside you will find reviews for Soundgarden’s first brand new release since 1996’s “Down On The Upside”, Godsmack’s cover of Joe Walsh’ “Rocky Mountain Way”, a new song from P.O.D., the debut single from former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler’s new band (Adler), a new song from former Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch’s new band (Love and Death), as well as the latest release from My Darkest Days. Only one of the songs can be crowned as my pick for “Single Of The Week”, and surprisingly enough, it was a pretty easy choice this week. Want to know which band gets the crown? Still one of my favorite releases this year, Leprous‘ Bilateral (review) is a prog rock/metal album that is destined to become one of the timeless classics of music. Now, the band has released a video for Restless that is just as weird and twisted as the album. I got a lot of Black Hole Sun vibes from this video in that everything was surreal and nothing could be figured out at first glance. Check it out after the jump and make sure to check out our exclusive interview with vocalist/synths Einar Solberg. READ MORE
Reunited Seattle grunge legends Soundgarden have announced the final itinerary for their upcoming summer tour. Special guests depend on the day, but it could be Coheed and Cambria, The Mars Volta, Queens of the Stone Age, Meat Puppets, or Mastodon, depending on your stop. Check after the jump for the full list.

This list is in no particular order, I just wanted to share them with you. The first is here and the remaining nine are after the jump. Enjoy!

Well, happy new year! With nothing but a few cryptic messages to go by, it appears as if Soundgarden will be gracing us with their presence in the music scene once again. Posted on their official website and Chris Cornell’s twitter we get this “The 12 year break is over and school is back in session. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!”.
One can only assume this means a full reunion and Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron are going to be rocking together for the first time since 1997 when the band broke up over creative differences. Seems like a perfect way for Chris Cornell to redeem himself after a barrage of negative reviews surrounding his latest solo release Scream, which was produced by Timbaland. READ MORE
