After the “Kon-Tiki” directors fell off the Legendary project, Spectral, to focus their efforts on Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Legendary has acted fast in finding its replacement to helm its supernatural thriller with commercials director Nic Mathieu in talks to direct, reports Variety.

Ian Fried wrote the original draft of the pic with Jayson Rothwell doing the most recent rewrite. Looking to breathe some new life into a project it’s high on, Legendary Pictures (Godzilla, Pacific Rim) has brought Jayson Rothwell (The White Devil, Invaders) to rewrite the supernatural thriller Spectral, Variety reports.

Though the project does not even have producers, sources say Legendary Pictures founder and chief, Thomas Tull loves the concept and is very much behind getting this film up and running.
