Device Releases Official Video For “Vilify”

The official video for Device‘s “Vilify” is now out and you can watch it below. The heavily stylized video was directed by P.R. Brown (Otep, Stone Sour, Filter, Staind) and features footage of the band performing as well as a woman (who looks like a mixture of the Borg Queen and Neo from the Matrix when he wakes up in the real world for the first time) covered in some black substance. The song comes from the band’s upcoming self-titled debut album, which comes out Apr. 9th (pre-order here).

Device is the new project from Disturbed‘s David Draiman and features Filter‘s Gene Lenardo on guitars. Guest appearances on the album include Lizzy Hale (Halestorm), M. Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold), Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine) and more. READ MORE

[Premiere] Check Out The Creepy Music Video For Candlelight Red’s “Demons”

Bloody-Disgusting is thrilled to bring you the exclusive music video premiere for Candlelight Red‘s song “Demons”, which comes off their latest EP Demons (iTunes). The video shows the band rocking out amidst fiery explosions and burst of debris interspersed with footage of a woman vomiting blood in heat signature filter (she looks mighty cold). Although I don’t think this video is NSFW, keep in mind that the woman, at points in the video, is covering her bare breasts with her hands. Just thought I should give a fair warning! Check out the video below!

Papa Roach Forced To Leave Rockstar Uproar Festival Due To Surgery

Papa Roach have cancelled all remaining tour dates on the Rockstar Uproar festival due to singer Jacoby Shaddix being diagnosed with a nodule on his left vocal chord. Doctors have advised Shaddix that he needs to undergo corrective surgery to remove the nodule to prevent further damage.

Shaddix explains, “It’s no secret that I’ve been having issues with my voice lately. I was hoping to be able to go out there and kill it on this tour by resting and doing vocal exercises, but my voice has just gone out on me. I hate to let our fans down, but unfortunately surgery is the only way to fix it. The last thing we want to do is give our fans less than 100% every night. We know they’ll understand and we’ll be back better than ever.

Starting Aug. 24th, the main stage acts of Godsmack, Staind, Shinedown, and Adelitas Way will have extended sets. READ MORE

Super Rare PRS Guitar Stolen From Staind’s Mike Mushok

My heart nearly breaks every time I hear that a touring musician has gear stolen from them. This isn’t just gear to them, it’s literally the tools that they need to perform their job. These thieves are taking away the means by which a musician is earning a living. I’m also willing to bet that these jerks don’t even know the difference between an E minor and a C major chord.

On top of that, I’m a bit of a guitar admirer. No, scratch that. I love looking at exquisite guitars and the very thought of someone stealing a beautifully crafted instrument fills me with blinding rage.

So upon hearing the news that Staind guitarist Mike Mushok had one of his custom PRS guitars stolen two nights ago in Little Rock, Arkansas, I got a little irked. Then I heard that said guitar is a custom 7-string and my head nearly exploded. For those of you who don’t know, PRS doesn’t do 7-strings. They have pretty much mastered the art of crafting gorgeous 6-strings that guitarists the world over desire so why worry abut 7-strings?

Well, it actually turns out that they have created a few 7-string guitars. But only two. That’s right, the guitar that was stolen from Mike Mushok was one of only two PRS 7-strings in existence. Hence the near head explosion. There is a picture of the guitar below (my god, it’s beautiful).

Mike is only asking that the guitar be returned. If anyone has any information, Mike has set up an email account to which you can send it: [email protected]

On a personal level, I know of the other 7-string. It’s a gorgeous custom guitar that I craved for years. I was actually trying to save up for it but I realized that dropping five figures for a guitar when I’m not in a internationally touring band was a bit excessive. So, in a weird sense, I feel somewhat connected to this guitar. READ MORE

[Original] Why The Revolver Golden Gods Awards Show Isn’t Helping Metal

On April 11th, the Revolver Golden Gods took place, giving praise and recognition to the rock and metal community. Famous musicians, such as Dee Snider, Chris Jericho, Gene Simmons, Marilyn Manson, Slash, Amy Lee, and many more, were in attendance. It was a night meant to not only celebrate the achievements of rock and metal musicians and their offerings, but it was also a night for the fans, a way to honor their passion and their love. And it was a night that did absolutely nothing to spread the word and the importance of rock and metal. READ MORE

Rock band Staind has released a video for Eyes Wide Open, which comes off their latest release, Staind (review). The video shows the band performing live and features singer Aaron Lewis and his magical disappearing/reappearing beard. It really is quite mesmerizing. But all joking aside, the song is awesome, the guys all seem to be having a great time performing it, and the fans are eating up every second of it. Check out the video below.
Staind will also be hitting the road with Godsmack and Halestorm in April. Tour dates are below.

[Review] Staind ‘Staind’

 [Review] Staind Staind

A new Staind album. For me, a reason to rejoice, but for many of their haters and detractors, another chance to say the same old thing about the group that has been said for about 10 years now. “They went soft”, “They sold out”, or “All Aaron Lewis does is whine and cry for an hour on each album.” Even though I disagree with all of the above statements, to someone who already isn’t a fan of the band, I can see these points. Well friends, if you are one of the haters of Staind, then their new self-titled album is for you.  READ MORE

Staind Release Must-See One Hour ‘Making Of Staind Documentary’: Stream Live Show Tonight

Staind released their 7th album this week and the self-titled album is a return to a heavier, more aggressive, more violent sound. Everything I’ve heard so far has been fantastic and this is coming from a guy who wasn’t too into the past few albums, though I did blast the hell out of Dysfunction when I bought it. To show the fans (and the general Internet population) just how much goes into recording an album and how stressful it can be, the band has released a one hour documentary that details not only the creative difficulties the band was having but also the personal issues they had with one another. It’s a fascinating video and I highly recommend checking it out after the jump.

Also after the jump is a UStream video that will show Staind live at the Best Buy Theater in New York City tonight at 9pm EST. The show is a benefit concert with all revenue going to the families of 9/11 victims. If you are in the New York area and want to go, you can still snag tickets here.

Staind Release Official Video For ‘Not Again’

Staind have released an official video for Not Again, which comes off their upcoming self-titled album (out Sept. 13th). As much as I enjoy the song (it reminds me of something that would be on Dysfunction), the video doesn’t really do much for me. With the amount of lens flares, it looks like it was directed by J.J. Abrams.

Check out the video after the jump and see how many lens flares you can count.

Hear The New Staind Song ‘Eyes Wide Open’

I won’t lie, I haven’t listened to Staind since 2001′s Break The Cycle, mainly because I got sick and tired of hearing their music all over the radio. I just got fed up with them. Plus, I loved the overall feel and tone of Dysfunction and everything that I’d heard after Break The Cycle never quite matched the intensity and fury on that album. So, imagine my surprise when I decided to give the new track, Eyes Wide Open, a shot and it ended up kicking quite a bit of ass! The song comes from their upcoming self-titled album, which comes out September 2011.

The thick bass that I remembered from Mudshovel was back, the sludgy yet heavy guitar tone of Home was there and singer Aaron Lewis has dropped the “I’m super depressed and everything I sing sounds like I want to die” voice and instead brought out some vicious snarls and impressive screams. Yup, this track has 100% reinvigorated my interested in Staind.
