Billed as a stylized modern ghost story, Dark Summer follows the tale of a 17-year-old on house arrest for the summer. When his mother is away on business, a horrifying incident occurs, followed by an even more terrifying presence in the house.
The pic follows a young girl from a wealthy Malibu family who fell under Manson’s spell. She was not one the “Family” members involved in the clan’s infamous murder spree, but Pitman was later imprisoned after she became involved with the Aryan Brotherhood and was convicted of being an accessory (after the fact) to murder.
About three teenage friends who accidentally trigger a deadly experiment that creates their duplicates–clones who are faster, stronger, and smarter than the original kids and who threaten to kill them and take over their identity.
Grace director Paul Solet has found the star of his supernatural horror Dark Summer in Stella Maeve (pictured above; The Runaways, Manson Girls).
Based on a screenplay by K-Town web series creator Mike Le and billed as a stylized modern ghost story, the film “follows the tale of a 17-year-old on house arrest for the summer. When his mother is away on business, a horrifying incident occurs, followed by an even more terrifying presence in the house.”
The movie will be produced by Preferred Film & TV (PFT), a joint venture between Content Media Corporation (CMC) and Preferred Content’s Ross Dinerstein and Kevin Iwashina. Dinerstein will produce, with Content Film’s Jamie Carmichael executive producing the title.
Production is set to begin this fall. READ MORE
A movie we’ve been covering exclusively on Bloody for almost a year now has finally gone behind cameras.
Manson Girls, focusing on the female followers of cult leader Charles Manson, has quietly started production nearly a year after the project was announced.
Susanna Lo is producing via her Slomotion Studios and directing from her own script, with Taryn Manning (pictured), Tania Raymonde, Monica Keena, Stella Maeve, Estella Warren, Chad Faust, Ron Jeremy, Eric Balfour, and Bill Moseley all starring, as previously reported in various stories here on Bloody.
Manson Girls focuses on the period leading up to the 1969 murders of nine people. Manson and three followers were convicted in 1971 in the slayings. Lo told Variety that she’s aiming to illustrate how and why the girls came under Manson’s command.
“The girls were all very talented but it was a very seductive time,” she said. “We really don’t want to sensationalize the story any further than it already has been. I’ve always been fascinated by how the girls came under the spell of this strange, manipulative man.”
Manson is serving a life sentence in a California prison. READ MORE
