Devil’s Knot

‘Devil’s Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three’ centers on an infamous Arkansas murder case that ended with the conviction of three teens based largely on their alleged fascination with the occult. Three children were savagely murdered in 1993. Weeks later, police announced the arrest of three teens accused of committing the murders as part of a satanic cult ritual. Among the evidence presented against the suspects to show their dark states of mind were posters of the rock band Metallica and books by Anne Rice and Stephen King.

Tribes of October

The film is set in a future in which New York has become surrounded by an endless desert plagued by heat storms, and the city’s technology is such that nothing made after 1960 works any more. In this environment, a detective (Stevenson) goes after a Mafia don (Caan) who is going after the remnants of the NYPD, led by Duvall. The detective is simultaneously searching for the love of his life (King). Moyer plays a cynical and street-smart detective.

Evidence

When the police arrive at an abandoned desert gas station after a brutal massacre, they find no evidence at the crime scene except for some of the victim’s personal electronics, which include a video camera, a Flip-cam, and two cellphones. With nothing else to go on, a troubled detective must analyze and piece together the footage from the personal electronics in order to figure out what the hell happened and who the killer is.

[TV] Newest “True Blood” Promo Goes Back To The Show’s Roots

Season 6 of “True Blood” is set to premiere on Sunday, June 16 at 9/8c and HBO has gone back to the roots of the series by serving up an ad centered around the Tru Blood drink, which is apparently in short supply these days.

The series started in 2008, “In a world where vampires have “come out of the coffin”, Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress, discovers a new world of different creatures when she meets Bill Compton, a vampire.

Guest stars joining the HBO smash in Season 6 are acting vet Rutger Hauer (as a mysterious figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason), “Rubicon’s” Arliss Howard (as Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell), “Friday Night Lights” grad Jurnee Smollett-Bell (as do-gooder Nicole), “90210‘s” Amelia Rose Blaire (as Howard’s onscreen daughter), “House‘s” Karolina Wydra (as a badass vamp) and All The Boys Love Mandy Lane‘s Luke Grimes as James, a Jim Morrison style vampire. The lovely Anna Camp also reprises her role as anti-vamp puritan Sarah. READ MORE

International Poster For ‘Evidence’ Teases A 2006 Era Period Piece

Image Entertainment will distribute Evidence, a thriller that stars “True Blood” and The Barrens‘ Stephen Moyer and Silent Hill‘s Radha Mitchell, in the US. But while we wait for their campaign to kick off we’ve got this (somewhat dated – that cell phone) international poster to keep us sated.

Directed by The Fourth Kind‘s Olatunde Osunsanmi, Evidence centers on two detectives (Moyer and Mitchell) who attempt to piece together what happened at the scene of a brutal massacre using a number of recording devices found at the crime scene.

TV Line is reporting that Anna Camp (The Help) will reprise her role as anti-vamp puritan Sarah. I really like Camp, but sadly it looks like this will only be for a few episodes.

[TV] Karolina Wydra To Vamp It Up In Season 6 Of “True Blood”

HBO’s “True Blood” is currently filming its’ sixth season for a summer premiere and it looks like Karolina Wydra (pictured above; “House”) will be joining the show. Per TVLine, she’ll be playing Violet, who “is described as a strong, sexy, possibly dangerous vamp on par with the Eric Northmans and Bill Comptons of the world.” Big surprise, I know!

The Barrens

Moyer will play a man who takes his family on a camping trip to the more than 1 million acres of dense forest known as the New Jersey Pine Barrens, where he becomes convinced they’re being stalked by the legendary winged monster that looks like a deformed hybrid of several different animals.

The legend of The Jersey Devil has been passed along for hundreds of years, as the creature has risen from obscurity to take its place alongside the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot and the Chupacabra.

“True Blood” Vamp Stephen Moyer Lands Leads In ‘Devil’s Knot’

I swore I wouldn’t post another casting story related to this project, but the latest is too big to ignore.

“True Blood” and The BarrensStephen Moyer has joined the cast of Devil’s Knot in a lead role, says Deadline.

The “True Blood” vamp will play prosecutor John Fogelman in the film about the wrongfully convicted and imprisoned West Memphis 3. He joins Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon, Alessandro Nivola and more in the cast. He will begin work on the Atom Eyogen-directed film immediately to fit in shooting around his schedule for the HBO vampire series.

Devil’s Knot tells the true story of how, despite no psychical evidence, teens Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols and Jessie Misskelley were found guilty and jailed for a triple homicide in 1993. They were finally released last year. The movie is based on the 2003 book “Devil’s Knot: The True Story Of The West Memphis Three” by investigative reporter Mara Leveritt.

In A Break From The Norm, The Stephen Moyer Directed Episode Of “True Blood” Will Have Both Sex And Vampires!!

By many accounts the currently running fifth season of “True Blood” – the last to be overseen by show runner Alan Ball – is experiencing an uptick in quality from last year’s batch of episodes. And I imagine that at this point star Stephen Moyer has been around long enough to get a firm handle on what it takes to direct an episode. TV Guide recently caught up with Moyer and managed to get, well… I suppose the usual amount of info from him.

It was a lot of fun to sit down with each actor, explain what I was trying to do and find the best way to achieve it together.” In regard to directing his wife, Anna Paquin, Moyer said, “We were giggling a lot. There was a lot of, ‘God, this director’s a nightmare.‘”

Then TV Guide decided to ask the daring question, will his episode have ‘hungry vampires, hot sex and down-and-dirty fights?’ He replied, “everything you can have on our show, I had in spades. Everybody is going through monumental stuff this season.

Moyer’s episode is entitled “Somebody That I Used to Know” and airs on July 29th.

TV: The Fifth Season Of “True Blood” Now Has A Launch Date

TrueBlood0908011 TV: The Fifth Season Of True Blood Now Has A Launch Date

“True Blood” is set to return on Sunday, June 10 at 9/8c. The show’s fifth season will contain 12 episodes and will be the last season of the program to be overseen by show runner Alan Ball. Which I guess means they can throw all logic out the window after that and go totally nuts, right? The show has been so conservative, chaste and predictable while maintaining the upmost adherence to narrative cohesion. I hope they finally get some sex, nudity and blood in the mix.

Mixing romance, suspense, mystery, and humor, the Emmy-nominated show takes place at a time when vampires have come out of the coffin and follows the on-and-off romance between waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, and 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Moyer).

Camilla Luddington (pictured), who portrayed Lizzie on “Californication “, has landed a recurring role on the upcoming season of HBO’s vampire drama “True Blood,” which will have a special focus on fairies, reports Deadline.

Luddington will play Claudette, one of Claude’s (Giles Matthey) many sisters, who gives Sookie insight into what it means to be a faerie.

Back in February it was reports that Jacob Hopkins (Priest) had landed the recurring role as the final member of “True Blood”’s highest vampire governing body, the Vampire Authority. Hopkins plays “Alexander Drew,” one of the Authority’s chancellors who was turned to darkness at the age of 9-years-old. Alexander is described as an impetuous vamp who likes to taunt those around him. Carolyn Hennesy will fill the final vacancy on the Authority.
