Hard rock band Stone Sour has taken to their Facebook page to announce that guitarist Jim Root will not be touring with the group during winter as he will be focusing on writing material for the next Slipknot album.
“With an impending Slipknot album on the horizon, Jim will not be touring with Stone Sour this winter. Everyone involved is okay with the decision and our mutual friend Christian Martucci (The Chelsea Smiles) will be filling in on guitar. It was a difficult decision, but as the fans have wanted another Stone Sour tour and Jim had responsibilities to the writing process with Slipknot, we feel this is the best decision where everyone wins.”
The new album will mark the first new release since 2008′s All Hope Is Gone. Who’s read for some more ‘Knot? READ MORE
Album review written by Lauren Rae
Alter Bridge is one of those bands that, for the most part, still seems to be somewhat of an undiscovered gem. Their fan base has grown exponentially over the years, and they do receive significant airplay. But there are still a lot of people who have not heard of them. And for those who have, well, like with Creed, you either love them or hate them. Funny how three of the four core members of that band seem to keep winding up in bands drawing those sorts of sentiments.
I happen to fall in the ‘love them’ category. I’ll openly admit I’m a huge Mark Tremonti fangirl and used to be a huge Creed fan, which (like with many of their admirers) is how I was introduced to them in 2005. One big factor with Alter Bridge is constant growth. Each album seems to be bigger than the last. And Fortress is no exception. In fact, it may set the precedent for future AB releases; it’s just that huge. READ MORE

There are a handful of music video directors whom I truly admire and always look forward to seeing their work. Mitch Massie, the man behind “Forced Gender Reassignment“. Phil Mucci, who did Stone Sour‘s “Do Me A Favor“. And then there is Michael Panduro, who directed two music videos that we at Bloody-Disgusting got to premiere: Cephalic Carnage‘s “Ohrwurm” and “Tarnished Gluttony” from Job For A Cowboy.
Panduro’s work always has a very high budget look and is never afraid to go in as close to the meat and bones (pun intended) as necessary, while also having the strength to pull back and expose the entire scene. Then there is the fact that he seems to be able to tackle any story with the same amount of intensity and commitment as any other project. There is a signature to his style, something that makes me able to watch a video and think, “This is definitely done by Michael Panduro.” It’s like hearing a particular guitar tone and knowing right away, even without hearing a single word, “This is [insert band name here].”
And now Michael needs our help. With all the amazing horror-influenced music videos and short films he has produced, Panduro has turned his eye to making Postpartum, a full-length feature horror film that he describes as a “Cronenberg’s “The Brood” mixed with Von Trier’s “Antichrist”“. Panduro has launched an IndieGoGo and some of the perks might very well pique your interest, especially the Postpartum Mixtape, which features tracks from Job For A Cowboy, Cephalic Carnage, Rwake, Saint Vitus, and more.
Head on below for a proof-of-concept for Postpartum as well as the cover art for Postpartum Mixtape. READ MORE
With its premise already established, House Of Gold & Bones #2 pushes the narrative forward and focuses on its central protagonist. In his musical crossover to comics, Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor offers readers an nightmarish underbelly, which is quite appealing in the artwork. This is a thrilling read about the gripping fear of the unknown. READ MORE
Corey Taylor is a man that never sleeps. In addition to being the front man for the metal juggernaut, Slipknot, Taylor also is the singer for hard rock outfit Stone Sour. He tours relentlessly throughout the year and when he is not on the road he is in the studio working on new music. His creative muse never rests and he has created some of the most memorable hard rock and heavy metal records of the past few decades.
When it came time to put together a new Stone Sour record, Taylor was inspired to write a short story that was eventually used as the basis for the group’s new 2-album concept record, House Of Gold & Bones Part 1 & 2. The story lent itself to be turned into some blistering hard rock.
Taylor is a lifelong comic book fan and has professed his love for the medium in countless interviews. With the prose narrative for “House Of Gold & Bones” already written, Taylor decided that the story leant itself to be adapted into comic book form. After pitching the book to a couple publishers Dark Horse Comics stepped in and helped Taylor bring the idea to fruition. READ MORE

Deep in paranoia and reveling in insanity, House Of Gold & Bones #1 is a gripping read about the fear of the unknown. Corey Taylor, lead vocalist of Slipknot and Stone Sour, makes a stunning foray into comic writing that captures the essence of madness. Lost in the middle of nowhere, a young man drifts into another reality and struggles to find out where he is. Will he able to escape from this hell-hole or is he stranded for eternity? READ MORE

Hard rockers Stone Sour have unleashed a 30-second teaser of a new song from House Of Gold And Bones: Part 2 entitled “Black John”. It’s about finding a balance and trying to make it come together in a way that makes all five of us happy with the result.
