Stone Sour Release Snippet Of New Song “A Rumor Of Skin”

Stone Sour have released a 30-second snippet of the song “A Rumor Of Skin”, which comes off their upcoming album A House Of Gold & Bones Part 1 (out Oct. 22nd via Roadrunner Records). You can hear the snippet below.

While I’m a fan of the dissonantly harmonized and filthy guitar tone at the beginning of the sample, the vocals quickly became overbearing and the song turned into something very radio-friendly. Perhaps the whole is better than the part? Hmm…. READ MORE

[Special Feature] Music As Rebellion In The Youth Feat. Corey Taylor

Written by Bloody-Disgusting music contributor Sammy Key

Music is kind of like Four Loko. There are a bunch of different flavors and teenagers love it. It also shares the tendency to evoke this sort of statement out of people; “It was better back in the day though, when I first had it,” (you know, before they took out all the caffeine). It’s true, these days it seems like music, or at least popular music, has lost its edge entirely. Gone are the days of sneaking records with “Parental Advisory/Explicit Content” plastered across the cover into your room and the days of mindlessly singing along to the latest saccharine sweet single while your mom drives you home from school are in full swing. Where is all the door slamming? Where are all the secret shows? It used to be that songs on the radio carried some sort of message, but now all I hear are lyrics about whips, b*tches, peacocks and all other sorts of bizarre metaphors for genitalia. And that’s if there are even words at all! Half of that sh*t is all “wobble” these days (whatever that is). Rebellion seems to have fizzled out, and in its place a taste for countless remixes, “womps”, and repetitive, dirty lyrics has grown. But no one bats an eyelash. It just seems like the passion, the demand for excellence has died. It’s like the teen masses have lost their will to act out, at least when it comes to music. These days, we sure as hell aren’t your stepping stone. But we’re not likely to make a hit single out of that sentiment either. READ MORE

Stone Sour Unveil Details For ‘House Of Gold And Bones Pt. 1′

Hard rock band Stone Sour has released details for their upcoming album House Of Gold And Bones Pt. 1 including the full track list (see below), release date (Oct. 23rd), and the final album artwork (which is nice and creepy!). The second album will be coming out in 2013.

Guitarist Josh Rand states, “House of Gold & Bones takes everything that’s great about this band and amplifies it. The riffs, the lyrics, the grooves and the songs are like Stone Sour times 10. There’s also heavy stuff that’s like nothing we’ve ever done before. It’s dark as hell and a complete experience from the first track to the last.”

Singer Corey Taylor (Slipknot) wrote the lyrics of both albums as a linear story, one that will take all 24 tracks to fully understand.

The band released the first two tracks, “Gone Sovereign” and “Absolute Zero”, online recently. Head below to hear them. READ MORE

Slipknot’s Corey Taylor Chats ‘The Raven’ With John Cusack

ARTISTDirect currently has a pretty amazing interview where Bloody-Disgusting favorite Rick Florino (author of the DOLOR series), gets to chat with both Slipknot/Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor and The Raven’s Edgar Allen Poe himself, John Cusack! The interview ranges from Taylor’s thoughts on the movie to Cusack chatting about when he first read Poe to (my personal favorite topic) how important music is to movies. Check out the interview here as well as the trailer below.

From V for Vendetta director James McTeigue , “The macabre and lurid tales of Edgar Allan Poe are vividly brought to life – and death – in this stylish, gothic thriller starring John Cusack as the infamous author. When a madman begins committing horrific murders inspired by Poe’s darkest works, a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans) joins forces with Poe in a quest to get inside the killer’s mind in order to stop him from making every one of Poe’s brutal stories a blood chilling reality. A deadly game of cat and mouse ensues, which escalates when Poe’s love (Alice Eve) becomes the next target.

The Raven is in theaters tomorrow, April 27th. READ MORE

Stone Sour Enter Studio For New Album

stonesour2012 Stone Sour Enter Studio For New Album
Grammy-winning rock band Stone Sour has announced that they are entering the studio to record their fourth album, which is as of yet untitled. The album is the follow-up to 2010′s smash success Audio Secrecy.
Guitarist Josh Rand: “This album will be another progression for the band. Musically, we have always challenged one another to push things to our limits, and this record is no exception. Lyrically, the album follows one character to that complex moment in his life, when he finally has to decide which path to take. It’s a spiritual and moral power play for control of what this man will be for the rest of his life. Each song will tell the story from different sides of the character’s personality, with the listener ultimately deciding how the story ends.”
To celebrate this news, the band has made available a free download of their song The Pessimist, which appeared on the soundtrack to Transformers 3. You can snag the song below.

Mashup artist Isonine is at it again, this time mixing Stone Sour‘s Through The Glass with Nicki Minaj‘s Super Bass. The end result is surprisingly effective, even if the video of Stone Sour rocking out all hardcore doesn’t match the music that much. Still, it’s definitely worth a peek and, if you so desire, a download!

Stone Sour Announce ‘Audio Secrecy’ As New Album Title

Three-time Grammy nominees STONE SOUR have revealed that Audio Secrecy will be the title of their highly anticipated new album, which is slated for release later this summer. The band and producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Rush) are currently holed away at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN, where they’re putting finishing touches on the much-buzzed-about record.

“Audio Secrecy is the summation of everything we want, everything we crave and everything we fight for,” says lead singer Corey Taylor. “The dimensions go further than anything we’ve ever tried before. It’s metal, rock, slow, soft, hard, fast, bitter, beautiful and most importantly, it’s REAL. You can’t get an album like this out of a band that doesn’t exist. We’re throwing caution out the damn window.”

The band (vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarists James Root and Josh Rand, bassist Shawn Economaki and drummer Roy Mayorga) will be previewing select songs from Audio Secrecy during their performances on this summer¹s Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival.
