Joey Jordison, drummer of Slipknot, has announced the formation of a new band entitled Scar The Martyr. The band is signed to Roadrunner Records and will release their as-yet-untitled debut album this fall. Produced by Rhys Fulbar (Front Line Assembly, Fear Factory), the album will feature vocalist Henry Derek, keyboardist Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails, American McGee’s Alice), and guitarists Jed Simon (Strapping Young Lad) and Kris Norris (Darkest Hour). Jordison played drums and bass on all songs as well as rhythm guitar on all but two tracks. Simon and Norris handled lead guitars for the full album. The musical style of the album will blend rock with “…post-punk and industrial.”
“With this project, I focused my efforts on writing for the better of the song,” says Jordison. “I wasn’t worried about flash or persona… It’s all about writing a good solid song. I’m writing music that people can grasp and hold on to…something that resonates. If you don’t have that, then you have nothing.” READ MORE
A new single entitled “We Are” has come from charity group Revolution Harmony, which works to restore the “…harmony between people, animals and the environment.” The charity group is run by Ray Holroyd, a British/African music lecturer and journalist. In conjunction with the upcoming release The Conscious Sedation from the extreme modern metal act SYSTEM DIVIDE, Metal Blade Records has launched a landing page where fans can go to check out music, album artwork, a teaser for the upcoming music video, and specially low priced preorder packages for the album. The first single, The Apex Doctrine, is currently streaming with two more tracks to come before the album is released on September 14.
‘Malevolence’, the third full length release by Seattle, Washington Tech-Death metal band I Declare War, is a solid release with 11-tracks of blistering, down-tuned heaviness. The lyrics are just as in-your-face as the music (should you be able to understand them) and if you’re feeling particularly pissed-off at the government, religion, etc…, this may just be the album you need to get some of that aggression out.
