Am I showing my hacky side when I say that I actually look forward to movies like You’ll Be The Death Of Me? The concept is simple and fun, and if done right could be a pitch-perfect slasher. Of course, things are rarely done right and I’m usually disappointed with how movies like this turn out, but it’s always better to hope, right?
Anyway, Lionsgate/Summit bought the slasher comedy from Mark Hammer (Two Night Stand) and will be producing the movie alongside Mandeville Films (Warm Bodies).
In the film, “Nothing can spoil falling in love in New York City, but a masked knife-wielding psychopath hell bent on keeping you single can certainly make falling in love more difficult.“
Summit Entertainment has released the first teaser trailer for RED 2, the sequel to the 2010 action flick very loosely based on the Warren Ellis DC Comics miniseries.
RED 2 brings Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren together once again against a new set of foes in Europe. Adding to the action are Brian Cox, Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung Hun Lee and Neal McDonough. RED 2 opens August 2nd, 2013. READ MORE
In theaters February 1 from Summit Entertainment is Warm Bodies, a new kind of zombie film from All the Boys Love Mandy Lane and 50/50 director Jonathan Levine.
Starring Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, John Malkovich and Analeigh Tipton, “The story centers on an existentially tormented zombie who begins an unlikely friendship with the girlfriend of one of his victims and starts a chain reaction that will transform him and his fellow zombies.”
Back in October of 2011 I visited the set in Montreal and really dug what I saw. I’ve been a fan of Levine’s work for some time, but have to admit that I was iffy on this particular concept. But between reading the book and seeing what the cast and crew were up to, I’m very optimistic that this movie will be a lot of fun. Plus, I got to be a zombie (along with several other journalists)!
On Friday I shared Part One of my set report – which you should really read first. After that, head inside now for Part Two! READ MORE

Millennium Entertainment’s Intruders hits theaters at the end of the month and we have a significant new clip from the film to help get you primed. In it, Ella Purnell’s Mia reads to her classmates the twisted tale of the origins of Hollow Face.
Starring Clive Owen, Daniel Brühl, Carice Van Houten, Pilar López de Ayala, Ella Purnell, Izan Corchero and Kerry Fox, the supernatural thriller was directed by 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.
“Though no one can see him, Hollow Face lurks in the corners, desperately desiring love but only knowing how to spread fear and hate. He creeps into the life of John Farrow (Clive Owen) after Farrow’s beloved 13-year-old daughter Mia (Ella Purnell) is assaulted in their home. The line between the real and the imaginary blurs as fissures start to open within the family unit. It seems that no security measure can keep Hollow Face out.”
Intruders screens at the SXSW Film Festival on March 13th at 11:59PM. It hits theaters everywhere on March 30th. READ MORE

Scott Derrickson, who is currently working on Sinister for Summit Entertainment, will be getting behind the camera for the long-gestured English-language remake of the Dutch thriller Two Eyes Staring (Zwart Water), which has one of the most idiotic twists in the past few years.
Summit is also getting behind this redo with Charlize Theron (Prometheus) attached to produce and star, reports THR.
Derrickson, the writer-director behind The Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Day the Earth Stood Still, will helm the remake from a script he wrote with Emily Rose collaborator Paul Boardman.
“ ‘Zwart Water’ centers on a nine-year girl old who discovers that her new friend is not only sinister but also is her mother’s dead twin. Theron is attached to play the mother, who is not quite right in the head, as they say.”
The movie, which was released in Europe last year, was re-titled Two Eyes Staring when hit international circuits, most recently playing at Fantastic Fest in September.

My favorite of the preview pieces is always the random studio releases. This year there are so many crazy films getting limited releases, courtesy to IFC Films and Magnet Releasing/Magnolia Pictures. Then we’ve got Mother’s Day and the remake of Fright Night from other studios, not to mention 11-11-11, The Troll Hunters, A Horrible Way to Die, The Howling Reborn and MANY more! What are you most excited for?

Summit Entertainment is making a rise to the top of my favorite studio list as they’ve been pushing various genre pics through the system. While they’re best known for the Twilight franchise, I think we can thank to tween vamp series for giving the mini the ability to make movies we want. Is anyone else as excited as I am for Drive Angry 3D?

Warner Bros. Pictures has always been good to us horror fans, and now that they dragged New Line Cinema under their umbrella things are getting pretty serious. While last year was a completel disaster with the releases of both Jonah Hex and A Nightmare on Elm Street, this coming year is jam-packed with genre films from The Rite to Final Destination 5.

We always smoosh Lionsgate’s film releases with After Dark Films’, specifically because Lionsgate distributes the titles on home video. If you were to remove After Dark from the following, Lionsgate’s 2011 is pretty weak, unless they can get the new Silent Hill in production for release this year. And who knows if ATM will even get a date? Yikes. They need a new franchise badly.

While Paramount Pictures isn’t known for horror, they always find a way to squeeze in one quality pic around their new franchise, Paranormal Activity. Most of that can be attributed to J.J. Abrams, who after producing Cloverfiled, is set to unleash Super 8 this summer – this time taking on directing duties! Thankfully Paramount finally got Case 39 out of their system, I’d like to forget it even exists.

And so it begins, the first of our many “2011 Horror Movie Preview” pieces that will unroll through the New Year! Kicking everything off are the Weinstein Company and Dimension Films, who after nearly closing their doors, have risen from the grave prepared to take over the horror world by the end of 2011. The year sees the release of the hotly anticipated Scream 4, along with the eerie found footage sci-fi thriller Apollo 18, and a new low budget Hellraiser movie (while we wait for the big budget remake). What else do they have cooking? Read on and see. What most excites you?
