Philip Anselmo Announces Details For Upcoming Solo Album

Details have emerged regarding Walk Through Exits Only, the upcoming solo album of ex-Pantera singer Philip Anselmo (Down, Superjoint Ritual). The album will be released digitally, on CD, and on vinyl on July 16th via Anselmo’s own Housecore Records and will feature eight tracks. The album cover has also been unveiled and can be seen below.

Anselmo explains, “It wasn’t about doing a paint-by-numbers thrash or heavy metal record. It’s an angry album that only I could do. I don’t see anybody else out there screaming about the same shit I’m screaming about. On this album, there isn’t any wordplay, there isn’t any hidden message, it’s all right there in front of you.

The first sampling of tracks from Philip Anselmo and The Illegals was heard with the Philip Anselmo/Warbeast split War Of The Gargantuas (review). You can hear the track “Conflict” below. READ MORE

Warbeast Are Prepared To ‘Destroy’ Everything This April

Thrash metal band Warbeast are set to release their upcoming full length album Destroy on Apr. 2nd. The album was produced by Philip Anselmo (Pantera, Superjoint Ritual, Down) and will be released via his Housecore Records. The band will host a CD release show on Apr. 6th at The Rail Club in Forth Worth, TX.

Vocalist Bruce Corbitt issued a statement regarding the departure of bassist Dre’ Karst, saying, “Warbeast Bassist Dre’ Karst will be leaving the band because he is unable to keep up with our busy touring schedule due to his work occupation. We are saddened that Dre’ has to leave the band. But we will be the first to acknowledge that Dre’ did an amazing job while he was in Warbeast. He only had two weeks to prepare to record our upcoming full-length album Destroy. He also kicked ass at all of the shows and on the three tours with Down. So please everyone… join us in giving Dre’ his props for what he accomplished in his time in Warbeast. THANKS SO MUCH DRE’!!! We will miss ya bro… thanks for being part of our family.

Corbitt continues, “So obviously that means that Warbeast is now on the hunt for our next bass player. Please only serious musicians contact us about this. Obviously we need someone that can tour constantly and that has a schedule that will work with Warbeast. So for those interested please send an email to [email protected]READ MORE

Down To Release Four EPs That Reflect The Different Sounds Of The Band

Down, the heavy metal supergroup comprised of Phil Anselmo (Pantera), Pepper Keenan (Corrosion Of Conformity), Kirk Windstein (Crowbar), Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod, Superjoint Ritual), and Pat Bruders (Goatwhore), have confirmed that they are working on a collection of four EPs. These EPs will each have an individual release with a year in between so as to allow for touring and promotion. The first of these EPs, EP One, is slated for release on Sept. 18th and can be pre-ordered here.

When asked about the four EPs, Anselmo explained, “That’s the idea right now, but I think that after you work on a body of music, you need to reload, you need to refresh, you need to clear your head. Get that, digest it, get it out of your system, and then decide what direction you’re going to go. It’s a good idea and I think we should see it through. But there’s no way we can rush it. Because I think if it is a series of four, each one should be unique, and that… We’ve shown flexibility — we have songs like ‘Bury Me In Smoke’ and then we have songs like ‘Stone The Crow’… acoustic pieces and what-not… We have all that. So we’ve touched on many, I guess, dynamics, so… I would expect each EP to have its own life.

Below is the track list for EP One as well as video performance of a new song, “The Misfortune Teller”. READ MORE

Artist Paul Booth-
“When Phil called me all excited about this new brutality and its unique concepts he needed cover art for, I could immediately tell his conviction and excitement far surpassed his usual dark vigor,” recalls album artist Paul Booth. “Of course, I was in. Once Keith presented me with one of haarp’s lyrical concepts in regards to Gluttony, it was actually amazing to me how similar their ideas were to my own. This collaborative vision was meant to be, as far as I was concerned. I look forward to creating more art to this slow and painfully twisted epic of doom.”

Haarp Releasing ‘The Filth’ On Nov. 23rd

New Orleans metal band haarp will be releasing their newest album, ‘The Filth, on Phil Anselmo’s (Pantera, Down, Superjoint Ritual) record label, Housecore Records. The artwork is credited to Paul Booth, whose art and tattoo work are famous throughout the music world.

Phil Anselmo - ”To call haarp “slow” would be somewhat fair, but to say that they’re just “another slow band” would be sacrilege,” states label owner Philip Anselmo. “Their music is crushing, resolute, dramatic and conceptually insane. If critics are going to try and lump them into any one genre, than they’d better put the crown on haarp’s collective heads once it’s picked. This ain’t Doom Metal by any stretch. haarp makes playing halftime sound like an original idea all over again. This music is essential.”
