Want To Know What ‘The Pact 2′ Is About?

Things have been quiet on The Pact 2 front for a few months. But now that things are gearing up, we’ve got an official synopsis (via STYD) for the sequel that Dallas Hallam and Patrick Horvath wrote and will direct.

Only a few weeks after Annie Barlow exterminated the plague that was the Judas Killer, we meet June, a woman whose carefully constructed life in Los Angeles is beginning to unravel due to lucid nightmares so awful they disturb her waking life. When Special Agent Kevin Dickey, the FBI agent assigned to wrap up the case of the newly deceased Judas Killer shows up at June’s door, he brings with him some terrifying news – there is a Judas copycat killer on the loose in her neighborhood! In the course of his investigation, Dickey shows June a picture of the copycat killer’s victim, and she is stunned to see that it’s the same woman she saw brutally murdered in her nightmares.

A series of hauntings begin to torment June, growing in frequency and ferocity over time. Now, not only does she see murder victims, but her dreams put herself in the role of the murderer. June fears that the spirit of the Judas Killer is the architect of some greater plan in which she must now play a part. June struggles to maintain her grip on sanity as she plunges into her own investigation of these events. No matter the result, the truth will be horrifying either there is true evil inside of her, or someone, or something, is determined to destroy her… IT’S NOT OVER.

The Pact 2 starts shooting this Spring.

Buddy Giovinazzo’s ‘A Night Of Nightmares’ Builds Its Foundation With A Poster And Synopsis

A Night Of Nightmares, from director Buddy Giovinazzo (Maniac 2, Combat Shock, Life Is Hot In Cracktown), is an official Fantasia Fest selection and stars Marc Senter (The Devil’s Carnival), Elissa Dowling (The Theatre Bizarre) and Jason London (Dazed And Confused). Now, Twitch has landed the synopsis and poster for the project.

In the film, “Mark Lighthouse is on his way to interview a subject for his underground music blog. Ginger, his newest singing discovery, is living in an old house up in the mountains, where she’s agreed to give him an interview and cook him dinner.

At the house, Ginger is not only talented but an exotic beauty as well. Mark starts his video interview and he and Ginger hit it off right away. They banter good-naturedly, their time together is easy. When Ginger gets a strange call from the eccentric owner of the mountain house, Cliff Tanner, they both laugh over his old-fashioned “down home” simplicity.

Throughout the interview in the house, small things occur. Keys are missing, a door is open that was shut earlier, music plays from a record player. It all seems harmless until Ginger’s psychotic ex-high school teacher, Phil, appears with a gun. Just released from prison after nine years for raping Ginger when she was 15 years old, he’s tracked her down to be with her, forever.

‘Dark Skies’ Parts The Clouds With New Synopsis

Last month Dimension Films confirmed our scoop that they have acquired U.S. distribution rights to the supernatural thriller Dark Skies, written and directed by Scott Stewart (Priest, Legion). Jason Blum (Insidious) will produce through Blumhouse Productions alongside Alliance Films, which will fully finance the picture. Alliance Films will distribute in Canada, in the UK (via Momentum Pictures), and in Spain.

We already knew that the horror flick focuses on the parent’s 6-year-old boy who’s apparently been “marked” by an alien (living among us) for future abduction. Now the official synopsis ties into that description, “Dark Skies is a psychological thriller about a suburban couple whose lives become a nightmare when a terrifying alien presence enters their home each night to prey upon their children. Increasingly isolated from skeptical friends and neighbors, the couple is forced to take matters into their own hands to save their family.

Dark Skies stars Keri Russell (Mission: Impossible III, Grimm Love) and Daniel Barrett as the aforementioned suburban couple. The film is scheduled to go into production this summer.

‘Savaged’ Hears No Evil, But Will Kill The Hell Out Of It

Savaged certainly sounds interesting and it certainly sounds… savage. As a supernatural spin on the classic revenge format of films like I Spit On Your Grave, I only hope they nail the tone. The film is directed by Michael S. Ojeda.

The film (which is now shooting), “tells the story of Zoe (newcomer Amanda Adrienne), a beautiful deaf woman who is abducted, brutalized and left for dead by a murderous gang. When she is found by a local native medicine man, he tries to save her but his efforts take a disastrous turn when she awakes possessed by a murdered Apache chief, hellbent on revenge.

‘Savaged’ is a throwback to classic horror movies like ‘Evil Dead’,'Dawn of the Dead’ and ‘Frankenstein’, fused with today’s filmmaking sensibilities while incorporating popular elements such as a strong female lead, revenge, and even the zombie mythos, with a powerful love story and of course edge of your seat action“, says Ojeda.

TV: ‘The Munsters’ Retitled To ‘Mockingbird Lane’

TV: The Munsters Retitled To Mockingbird Lane

TV Line confirms earlier rumors that NBC’s “The Munsters” television reboot will be titled “Mockingbird Lane”, which is of course where the family moves to start their new life.

The project is currently in the casting stage, so there’s still time for “Pushing Daisies” creator Bryan Fuller/X-Men auteur Bryan Singer/NBC to consult our dream picks for Herman, Lily and the rest of the creepy brood.

The project features striking visuals mixed with all the classic “Munsters” archetypes. Grandpa Sam Dracula is essentially Dracula who assembled Herman because no man was good enough for his daughter Lily, a sexy vamp. Lily’s niece Marilyn the freak is actually normal and Lily and Herman’s only child, Eddie, has his werewolf tendencies surface in puberty, forcing the family to relocate to their famous 1313 Mockingbird Lane address. First Sightseers Pic Is Indeed A Sight To Behold

With Kill List topping multiple year-end lists, including Mr. Disgusting’s, all eyes are on director Ben Wheatley’s next project Sightseers.

It started shooting a few months back and now, courtesy of Empire Online, we have our first look at the film itself. In the accompanying interview, Wheatley concedes that the film will be less dark. Per Empire, “There will be kills, and there may even be a list of some kind, but Wheatley insists that this is lighter fare than his last two outings, ‘Down Terrace’ and the film that birthed the Kill List Stare. It’s not as dark as Kill List,’ Wheatley tells Empire, ‘I’d have to shoot a child in the head live on television to be darker than that, but it has the same humour and the same worldview. But it’s also quite romantic, a bit more of a love story.’

Actors Alice Lowe and Steve Oram wrote the script about a couple on a countryside caravan trip that goes wrong. “Chris (Steve Oram) wants to show Tina (Alice Lowe) his world and he wants to do it his way – on a journey through the British Isles in his beloved Abbey Oxford Caravan. Tina’s led a sheltered life and there are things that Chris needs her to see – the Crich Tramway Museum, the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Keswick Pencil Museum and the rolling countryside that separates these wonders in his life. But it doesn’t take long for the dream to fade. Litterbugs, noisy teenagers and pre-booked caravan sites, not to mention Tina’s meddling mother, soon conspire to shatter Chris’s dreams and send him, and anyone who rubs him up the wrong way, over a very jagged edge…

There I was able to chat with the cast and crew about what appears to be the biggest installment in the franchise yet. Globetrotting adventures? Check. Shifting alliances? Check. More action? Check. Chats with Milla Jovovich, Paul W.S. Anderson, Sienna Guillory, Michelle Rodriguez, Oded Fehr and Boris Kodjoe? Check.

Paul W.S. Anderson Talks ‘Resident Evil 6′, Film’s Producers Discuss A Prequel!

Paul W.S. Anderson Talks Resident Evil 6, Films Producers Discuss A Prequel!

I was recently on set for Sony Screen Gems’ Resident Evil: Retribution in Toronto, a visit in which there was ample opportunity to talk with much of the film’s cast and crew (full report coming soon). While most of the conversation centered around the most recent installment’s returning cast members and globetrotting narrative, there was one inevitable topic that kept arising – the future of the franchise.

The Resident Evil franchise is one of the lucky few in which the box office grosses just keep going up – and with that trend not looking to die down with the current installment it seems as if it’s (almost) a foregone conclusion that Part 6 will happen. In fact, director Paul W.S. Anderson already has a story in mind (it would be the completion of a trilogy cycle started in Afterlife) and there was even discussion of filming parts 5 and 6 back to back (a discussion which was admittedly abandoned early on).

While there isn’t a script yet, here’s what director Paul W.S. Anderson had to say on the matter. “There was an early discussion about [filming 5 and 6 back to back], but we just decided to focus on this movie. But if we made another one I do know where it would go. And obviously it would be great to do two full trilogies and just bring everything to an end.

Would the sixth one be a finale then?

Yes. Definitely. Unless of course no one goes to see this one”.

To find out the cast’s reactions and predictions (as well as the reactions of the series’ producers) for the sixth installment, make sure to check out our full Resident Evil: Retribution. There’s also talk of doing a prequel after that so be sure to stay tuned!

The set report will be up in a matter of moments!

Full Plot Details For Both [REC] Sequels, Genesis and Apocalypse!

Thanks to BD reader “RECFAN”, we’ve now landed the official plot crunch to Paco Plaza’s [REC]3: Genesis and Jaume Balagueró’s [REC]4: Apocalypse.

The infection has left the building. In a clever twist that draws together the plots of the first two movies this third part of the saga also works as a decoder to uncover information hidden in the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment the future [REC]4 Apocalypse.

Anderson-directed sequel that brings Milla Jovovich back as Alice, alongside Sienna Guillory, Colin Salmon, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, Michelle Rodriguez, Johann Urb, Oded Fehr, Kevin Durand, and Li Bingbing. The 3-D sequel will arrive in theaters September 14, 2012.

TV: Character Details and Plot for ‘The Munsters’ Pilot!

While NBC begins casting their reinvisioned “The Munsters” we decided to do a little digging and find out more about the planned television series set to begin filming next February.

We’re exclusively told by insiders that this will NOT be a remake of the original 1964 series that starred Fred Gwynne, Al Lewis and Yvonne De Carlo as a family of friendly monsters have misadventures never quite realizing why people react to them so strangely.

The modern take will instead be strange hybrid of the popular comedy “Modern Family” and HBO’s “True Blood”. While the series will be dark there will be a lot of heart and comedic elements. While I’m a huge fan of Bryan Fuller’s “Dead Like Me”, his “Pushing Daisies” never grabbed my attention, and frankly neither were any good at character development. The follow, though, gives me some series hope. There are a lot of interesting people moving into 1313 Mockingbird Lane…

The pilot episode, which is to be directed by Bryan Singer – who also was behind the camera for the “House” pilot, Superman Returns and X-Men – will focus on 10-year-old Eddie Munster who is unaware that he’s a werewolf, and that his family is composed of terrifying creatures. The madness begins when a baby bear attacks a scouting trip, only it turns out that this “bear” is actually Eddie transformed into a werewolf. Eddie is unaware of his metamorphosis and it forces the family to move in order to protect the family secret. The coming of age story gets weirder as he fights against his family when he learns of a shocker: they’re a family of flesh-eaters!

A few other random character notes: Lily Munster has an eating disorder and eats suicide victims. Grandpa Munster is a 600-year-old shapeshifter, and Marilyn Munster was adopted when her mother tried to eat her as a baby. READ MORE

Leaked ‘Akira’ Synopsis Faithful to Source Material

Leaked Akira Synopsis Faithful to Source Material

Akira originated in 1988 as a manga and then as an animated film co-written and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. It was set in New Manhattan and followed the leader of a biker gang who must save his friend, discovered with potentially destructive psychokinetic abilities, from government medical experiments.

The project is so epic that it was originally planned as a trilogy, which leads me to the big question: What will Warner Bros. and director Jaume Collet-Serra get on the big screen with their live-action adaptation set to shoot in 2012?

During casting calls, the following plot crunch has leaked online. READ MORE

Chris is About to Go Over the Edge in ‘Sightseers’

Chris is About to Go Over the Edge in Sightseers

It was announced the other day that Kill List director Ben Wheatley has just begun shooting Sightseers in Derbyshire, Yorkshire and the Lake District.

Actors Alice Lowe and Steve Oram wrote the script about a couple on a countryside caravan trip that goes wrong. This morning an official website was launched, which gives us an official plot crunch:

Play It Backwards, Full Plot Synopsis ‘The Lords of Salem’!

More Cannes awesomeness this morning as IM Global has released the entire plot crunch for Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem, and it sounds 1980′s awesome.

Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the “Big H Radio Team”.

A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, “a gift from the Lords”. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word.

As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.

Later, Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the ‘Lords of Salem,’ and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.

The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting: the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for BLOOD.

Zombie’s pic, produced by the Insidious and Paranormal Activity team, reminds me of John Fasano’s 1988 Black Roses and Charles Martin Smith’s 1986 Trick or Treat. At least now Zombie has an excuse for idiotic cameos.

Leaked Plot Details for Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’!

Spoiler-filled plot details have leaked for Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ Pacific Rim, which Guillermo del Toro has official come aboard to direct.

The following comes courtesy of News in Film, even though the screenplay is being retooled: “In alternate version of Earth in the near future, decades after a historic date in November 2012 when the first kaiju, a towering Godzilla-like beast, emerged from a hole in the Pacific Ocean and attacked the city of Osaka, Japan. The second is “The Anteverse,” another universe on the other side of that gaping portal, 5 miles below our ocean’s surface.

Since the first attack, the rim has been “spitting out” a variety of gigantic monsters at an increasing rate, which then stride out of the ocean and begin destroying sea-bordering cities, like Tokyo and Los Angeles. In order to combat these monstrous, otherworldly menaces, the military developed the “Jaeger” program, which trains teams of two pilots to jointly operate massive, building-sized mechanized suits of armor and high-tech weaponry….” Continued inside.
