The Wolf Among Us (6)

Telltale’s Newest Game ‘The Wolf Among Us’ Is Announced

Telltale absolutely killed it with The Walking Dead series. Trying to top it would be near impossible, but they could very well come close with The Wolf Among Us. The game will be based off the DC comic book series known as Fables. The comic is a constant best seller and the series has been running for over a decade. The series will start out before the events in the 1st issue of the series. You the player take on the roll of Bigby Wolf, also known as The Big Bad Wolf who was exiled from the land of fairy tales. He is commissioned by Snow White to keep peace among the mythical creatures while otherwise remaining undetected to the normies. Head past the break to check out the first set of screens from the game.

We May Have To Wait Until Fall 2014 For Another Season Of Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead’ [UPDATE: It's Coming Fall 2013]

Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead was one of the best games to release last year. It was emotional, dramatic, and unforgettable. It was also buggy, but they’re working on that. Its success guaranteed a second season, but it looks like we may have to wait a while for it. After receiving a BAFTA for Best Story for The Walking Dead, Telltale co-founder and CEO Dan Connors told Eurogamer “We’re aiming for fall next year [for season two].” Thankfully, it looks like they have something else in the works to keep us busy until then.

UPDATE: Speaking with Game Informer, a Telltale rep said season two is actually coming this year, not in 2014. “The current estimated release window for Season Two of The Walking Dead is for fall of ‘this’ year (2013), and not ‘next’ year (2014) as has been reported after a recent interview. We apologize for any confusion and thank you and all of our fans for your continued excitement for Telltale’s series.” Phew.

Telltale Is Taking Steps To Make Season Two Of ‘The Walking Dead’ Less Buggy

Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: The Game is a fantastic example of storytelling done right in a video game, but the experience was soured for many because of the numerous polish issues that plagued it, including a particularly nasty save bug that completely erased your progress. For a story that adapts and changes depending on the decisions you make over the course of the five episodes, this was obviously a series problem. In a recent interview Telltale boss Dan Connors told Rock Paper Shotgun they’re working on getting systems in place to remedy the problem. See what he had to say after the jump.

Telltale Writer Teases Something Related To ‘The Walking Dead’ Coming Before Season Two

Hey, you. Did you hear about that game based on The Walking Dead? We’ve only barely covered it here (ha!), so if you’re unfamiliar, it’s an episodic game from Telltale Games that’s set in TWD universe that follows a group of people trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zom — err, what am I doing? Of course you’ve heard about the game. I’m pretty sure every other post I wrote last year was about how amazing it was. Obviously, Telltale Games is hard at work on season two, but according to Telltale writer Gary Whitta’s tease in a recent interview on IGN’s Up at Noon, we won’t have to wait for the second season to roll out for more TWD.

These Are The Difficult Choices You Made In The ‘Walking Dead’ Finale

The emotional first season of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: The Game ended with a bang last month. Its finale more than lived up to the high bar set by the previous four episodes, and just as we’d come to expect from the episodic game, there were plenty of tough decisions to make along the way. I won’t spoil anything for you since I’m sure there are still plenty who haven’t experienced it yet. If you finished episode 5 and are curious as to how your fellow gamers dealt with the myriad difficult choices the game threw at its players, I have a video waiting after the break that will tell you just that.

6 Horror Games And The Studios That Should Make Them!

Sometimes a fresh set of eyes can bring new and interesting perspectives. When you look at the same thing for so long, it can get difficult to see its flaws, and while this can be said for many things, it’s especially true for video games. Getting a fresh perspective can be a great way to make sure a series stays engaging, to keep it from becoming stale and predictable. Franchises like Resident Evil and Silent Hill have each had games developed by studios other than the one that created them, and while the results have been a mixed bag, some of these partnerships have led to incredible games.

With this in mind, I’ve compiled a list of six game developers that I think are universally great and matched them with a horror franchise I feel they could make an incredible game for. Check out my picks after the break, and feel free to comment with your own dream matches!

Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead’ Surpasses 8.5 Million Episodes Sold

Telltale’s version of The Walking Dead is just as brutal and emotional as what we’ve come to expect from the franchise. It was my pick for Game of the Year, though we won’t know if it was yours until our FEAR Awards conclude later this month. In a recent interview, Telltale Games CEO Dan Connors told the Wall Street Journal the series has sold over 8.5 million individual episodes. Surprisingly, a quarter of those sales were on Apple’s iOS platform (the game is available on PC, 360, PS3, and iOS). If you missed our reviews of the first season, you should definitely check them out!

For Better Or Worse, These Were The Biggest Surprises Of The 2012 VGAs

Friday night was a big night for gamers. Spike hosted its annual Video Game Awards show, and despite the awkward back-patting and hilariously awful pre-show, as a whole, the event was mildly entertaining. Most of this can be put on Samuel L. Jackson, who hosted the event for the fourth time in the event’s ten year run. Arguably the biggest reason gamers should be interested in the VGAs is the plethora of world premieres, and while this really wasn’t the best — that can be blamed on the fact that this console generation is ending soon, so there aren’t any new IPs to announced), there were still plenty of amazing games that were announced. So what were the best and worst surprises of this year’s VGAs? Find out after the break.

VGA 2012: Zombie Fans Rejoice, Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead’ Wins Big At Spike VGAs

I’ve loved and can’t seem to stop talking about Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead. It’s fantastic. It looks like many of you agree, as the episode game won Game of the Year, Best Performance by a Human Female, Best Downloadable Game, and Best Adapted Video Game at the Spike Video Game Awards earlier tonight. Telltale also won Studio of the Year, so overall, they received five of the awards they were nominated for (they lost the Best Performance by a Human Male category to Dameon Clarke, who portrayed Handsome Jack in Borderlands 2). Bravo!

‘The Walking Dead’s’ Lee And Clementine Are Looking Serious On Game Informer’s December Cover

Seen on the gorgeous cover of Game Informer’s December issue is Lee and Clementine from Telltale Game’s amazing The Walking Dead. I’m glad they’re on there, looking understandably sullen, especially after the events that happened in the emotional finale. You know a game did something right when you can look back at it after finishing it and still get a little choked up. Or maybe I’m just a softie. Also on the cover are the Master Chief and Cortana from Halo 4, Dishonored’s Corvo, Mario, Darksiders II’s Death, Mass Effect 3′s Commander Shepard (bonus points for choosing female Shepard!), among others. I have a nice, big version too — check it out in all it’s high-resolution glory after the break.

Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead’ Coming To Retail On December 11

If you still haven’t played Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead, the only way you can redeem yourself is if you’re planning on grabbing the retail version. Seriously, if you don’t get that, I’m writing you off completely and I will find a way to ban you from Bloody Disgusting, and possibly the Internet. This isn’t a game, this is serious business. The retail version will of course come with all five episodes — more if you get the special edition — and releases on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC for $29.99.

[Contest] Comment To Win A Season Pass For Telltale’s ‘The Walking Dead’

UPDATE: This contest is now closed. Big thanks to everyone who participated!

The first season of Telltale Games’ consistently amazing The Walking Dead ended with a bang last week, bringing an emotionally charged end to one of the most engaging video games I’ve played this year. That’s not it for the series, as Telltale’s confirmed they have plans for a season two and the retail bundle will be out on Dec 4th. If you haven’t had the chance to play The Walking Dead yet or are too impatient to wait for it to come to retail, boy, do I have a deal for you. The lovely folks at Telltale were generous enough to give me a few Steam season passes for The Walking Dead, and instead of keeping them all for myself, I’m going to give them all to you. Details after the break.

‘The Walking Dead – No Time Left’ Review: No, I’m Not Crying, There’s Just Something In Both My Eyes

The Walking Dead is over. The finale to Telltale’s brutal and often emotional take on the popular series is out, and after beating it, all I can really say is… damn. Everything comes to a head here –- friends will die, lessons will be learned, and even though this is the shortest episode in the season (it took me about an hour to complete), it packs as many, or more tough decisions and gut-wrenching moments as most 20+ hour games. I braved the final outing in what has gradually become my top choice for Game of the Year, and if this series has been an emotional roller coaster ride, this is the part of the ride where the coaster goes off the rails and shit gets crazy.

Oh, and there will be spoilers, because I really, really want to talk about the ending. You have been warned.

Here’s An Intense Debut Trailer For The Season Finale Of ‘The Walking Dead: The Game’

Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: The Game has quickly become one of my favorite games of the year, and tomorrow it all comes to a head in the fifth episode, No Time Left. I feel like I need to prepare myself emotionally for this conclusion, which I almost don’t want to play because it will mean Telltale’s episodic game is over (at least for now). Don’t worry, I’ll play it, and I’ll review it, then I’ll sit in my room crying and rocking back and forth until the inevitable season two comes out. Check out the fifth episode’s debut trailer after the break. This one’s going to be a doozy.

Telltale Releases Two More Screenshots From The Final Episode Of ‘The Walking Dead’, Trailer Coming Tomorrow

You know how I like to spend my Sunday nights? I like to sit down at my desk, boot up my computer and spend hours looking at hot, nasty screens from the fifth episode of The Walking Dead. Telltale is being such a tease, releasing screenshots of the finale one at a time as if to say, “yeah, I know you want me, but you can’t have me… yet.” Well, I have two more images waiting for you after the jump — I hope they’re as good for you what they were for me.

Try Not To Lose Your Head Over This First Screen From The Upcoming Finale Of ‘The Walking Dead’

Next week marks the release of what will (hopefully) be the end of the first of many seasons of The Walking Dead, and I can’t wait. The first four episodes have been consistently amazing, and the fifth isn’t likely to disappoint. If you’re finding it difficult to endure the wait for the highly anticipated finale, I highly recommend really soaking in this first look at the game. I have a crazy high resolution screenshot patiently waiting for you after the jump, along with the eighth episode in Telltale’s Playing Dead miniseries. Ready Or Not, Telltale Games’ ‘The Walking Dead’ Concludes Next Week

How do one adequately prepare for something like the fifth episode in Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead? What do you do, I mean, is being prepared for something like that even possible? I’m not sure it is, but that’s not going to change the fact that Episode 5 No Time Left is coming next week. It’s been one hell of a crazy ride, with ups and downs, zig zags, loopty loops, and I think we may have even gone in reverse a few times. The last episode set the stage for this, and if that ending is anything to go by, this episode could very well be the best one yet. We’ll know for sure when No Time Left releases next Tuesday, November 20th on PSN, and November 21 on Xbox Live, PC/Mac, and iOS. Is anyone here as excited as I am to see how it all ends, or will you be too busy playing Halo 4, Black Ops II, or Assassin’s Creed III?

Here Are All The Horribly Irresponsible Choices You All Made In The Fourth Episode Of ‘The Walking Dead’

The fourth episode in Telltale Games’ episodic series based on The Walking Dead is pretty good. It isn’t the strongest episode in the series, but even then, it offers more substance than most 20+ hour retail games. If you have an iPhone or iPad and haven’t checked out this episode, you should definitely jump on it now that it’s available for iOS devices. Just grab The Walking Dead: The Game app for a paltry $4.99 and get yourself the fourth episode in what continues to be one of the best zombie games ever. I also recommend checking out the player stats video I have patiently waiting for you after the break.

‘The Walking Dead’ Collector’s Edition Is Something I’d Very Much Like To Own

I own the first four episodes of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead and I’ll undoubtedly be dropping the cash to get the finale when it releases in early December. Now, it looks like I’ll also have to spend the $69.99 for the Ultimate Badass Zombie Slayer Edition (not the real name, even though it should be), which includes all five episodes and The Walking Dead Compendium One with cover art designed by Charlie Adlard — a collection of the first 48 issues of Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic book series. If you’re not into the comics, there’s always the basic $29.99 retail version that bundles the five episodes together.

Having never read the comic book, but always wanted to, the collector’s edition sounds fantastic. Unfortunately, it’s a Gamestop pre-order exclusive, and it’s doubly sad that we’ll have to wait until December 4th for it to release. Thankfully, there are plenty games between now and then to keep us busy.

‘The Walking Dead Episode 4′ Review: Geeks, Creeps, And Paranoia

Lately, I’ve found myself more excited for a new episode in Telltale Games’ episodic game based on The Walking Dead than I am for most other games. I love a good story, especially when something like that is still so hard to come by in video games. After the intense and emotional roller coaster ride that was Episode 3, I couldn’t imagine it getting any better than that. Long Road Ahead was emotionally draining, and it built off of the terrifying events in the second episode brilliantly. Does Around Every Corner continue this series’ trend of getting better with each new episode? Let’s find out. (Oh, and there will be spoilers for episodes 3 in here. Sorry, this really can’t be helped)

Here’s A New ‘The Walking Dead – Episode 4′ Trailer To Prepare You Emotionally For Its Release Later This Month

Telltale Game’s episodic series The Walking Dead is one of the few that has managed to get better and better. After the way Episode 3 ended, I can only assume that the next episode, dubbed Around Every Corner, will be the most intense one yet. In the trailer, which you can see after the break, we’re teased with a stranger on the radio, Kenny’s back to drinking (though, really, can you blame him?), and Lee punches a girl. Don’t worry, it’s not Clementine who gets a taste of his mean right hook.
