[Exclusive] Amazing Photos From The Upcoming TesseracT “Of Energy – Singularity”

Bloody-Disgusting is thrilled to bring you an exclusive first look at the upcoming TesseracT music video for “Of Energy – Singularity” with eight amazing photos. The photos show a woman in red lingerie (possibly NSFW?) as well as close ups of some strange, alien creature. There’s also a nice homage to A Nightmare On Elm St. with a strange tentacle joining the woman in the bath.

Video production began on “Singularity” a few days ago. Produced by Horsie In The Hedge/Pari Passu Films and featuring the Emmy Award-winning director of photography Mark Wolf, as well as the practical effects team that worked on Skyfall and Prometheus, the video is sure to be as cinematically stunning as the music itself.

“Of Energy – Singularity” comes from TesseracT’s upcoming album Altered State (review). Head on below to see the images. READ MORE

[Album Review] TesseracT ‘Altered State’

When it was announced that TesseracT’s second full-length, Altered State, was going to be another “one track broken into several tracks” situation (exactly like their 2010 Concealing Fate EP), I was both extremely excited and full of uncertainty and hesitancy. After all, the band had struck gold with Concealing Fate. Could lightning strike twice? It was a question that stuck with me until I received a copy of their latest album. And now, having listened to the album more than once (read: a veritable sh*t ton of times), I can give my answer. Head on below for my thoughts. READ MORE

TesseracT To Record Live Session Of ‘Altered State’?

It has been announced that prog-metal band TesseracT has booked a session at Sphere Studios with the intent of recording a live performance, although they did not specify what exactly they will be recording. The band has previously released a live DVD of themselves performing the entire Concealing Fate EP in one uninterrupted take (which you can see below), so it’s highly possible that this is the plan and that the band will be recording a one-take of their new album Altered State.

Bassist Amos Williams comments, “I am pleased to announce that TesseracT have just booked Sphere Studios to do another live session. The Concealing Fate live session we did was one of the most fun days I’ve ever had as a musician, so I’m really looking forward to recording and filming another batch of tracks with Francesco Cameli (New Model Army, Queen, BFMV, Gary Moore).

Altered State will be released May 27th via Century Media Records. READ MORE

R.I.P. Robert Zildjian, Founder Of Sabian Cymbals, Passes Away At 89

Sad news has come out of the music equipment world as Robert Zildjian, founder of Sabian Cymbals, has passed away at age 89. Many artists have expressed their grief, including Tesseract‘s Jay Postones, who states, “I’ll always use and love Sabian cymbals. RIP Robert Zildjian,” while ex-Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy comments, “I am truly saddened to write that SABIAN founder and our fearless leader Robert Zildjian, has passed on today at age 89. RIP Uncle Bob.

Sabian commented via their Facebook page, “It is with deep, deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert “RZ” Zildjian, our beloved founder and leader. A tireless and dynamic force, he inspired each one of us in the Sabian family to work harder, to reach farther, to make a difference – and he led us by example. We mourn his passing, and we will miss him for a long time to come. But we are better people for having known RZ, and we are richer for having worked alongside him. We draw comfort from the knowledge that his spirit will live on in the music made by artists the world over.

Rest in peace, RZ.

Our deepest condolences to the Zildjian friends and family, the Sabian crew, and all the musicians who use Sabian as a part of their arsenal. READ MORE

Jon Gomm And Daniel Tompkins Cover Chaka Khan Classic “Ain’t Nobody”

For as much as I love metal (especially prog and tech metal), I absolutely adore R&B and MoTown. So when I see a mixture of these two genres, I get more than a little excited, to say the least.

Below you can watch Skyharbor/ex-TesseracT vocalist Daniel Tompkins singing over singer/songwriter Jon Gomm‘s acoustic interpretation of the Chaka Khan classic “Ain’t Nobody”. It’s a fantastic, dynamic song that is helped by Tompkins’ unreal vocal harmonies and Gomm’s stellar guitar work. I highly recommend you watch it below! READ MORE

TesseracT’s New Album Will Be A 51-Minute Song

UK progressive metal band TesseracT have, according to Century Media Records, turned in their sophomore full length album Altered States as a 51-minute track. Now, in a way this isn’t a surprise as their Concealing Fate EP (review) was essentially a near 28-minute unending track that was split up into six individual pieces that flowed seamlessly into one another. I’m guessing that it will be the same with this album.

No official release date has been set but one can hope we’ll get to hear it before summer ends.

Altered State will be the first album with new vocalist Ashe O’Hara. A single entitled “Nocturne” can be heard below. READ MORE

Tesseract Announce Title Of New Album

UK tech metal band Tesseract has revealed their new album title as Altered States. The uploaded the above image as their Facebook cover photo. Upon googling “Tesseract Band Altered States”, a new page on their official website came up. In that page, a similar banner (without the sponsors) was posted (see it below). The filename for that banner was “TessAlbumTitleReleaseTimeline02WEBSITE1″, pretty much confirming that this is the new album title.

This will be the first full album since singer Daniel Tompkins left the band. In that time, Sky Eats Airplane singer Elliot Coleman joined the band for a short while. He too left and the band is now joined by singer Ashe O’Hara. They released a single entitled “Nocturne”, which you can hear below. READ MORE

Destiny Potato’s Awesome Mashup Including TesseracT And James LaBrie

Since the signing of Destiny Potato to Century Media Records, I’ve been incredibly curious to hear what kind of music they’d release. While there is no album out yet, the band did release a single entitled “Dark Side Of You” (which you can download from the Carnival Of Sounds Vol. II sampler pack here) that I kinda love. Scratch that. I REALLY love it.

So, whilst scouring YouTube to see if I could find some more music from them, I stumbled across a mashup video they put together (I can’t believe I missed it). In it, the band presents two separate tracks, one that features a brief snippet of their song “The Wheel” that bleeds into TesseracT‘s “Origin” while the other begins with James LaBrie‘s “Euphoric” that shifts into their own “Lost Dream”. I’ve watched it several times now and I’m still not even remotely tired of hearing it. Check it out below. READ MORE

TesseracT Release “Nocturne” As Free Download

Being the huge TesseracT fan that I am, I was highly anticipating the release of “Nocturne” (review), the first new single from the band in a bit as well as the first time we listeners got to hear new singer Ashe O’Hara. I had a ton of tantrums and was sent to time out at least six times.) they are going to release the single as a free download! So, if you head on down, you can stream the track and download it via Soundcloud. Talk about a great way to start the weekend, right?! READ MORE

[Single Review] TesseracT “Nocturne”

TesseracT is a band that came seemingly out of nowhere and rocked the metal community. The band’s mixture of vicious metal riffs with glorious, beautiful soundscapes captured and awed, garnering a fanatical fanbase that are near rabid supporters.

In August of 2011, singer Daniel Tompkins left the band, replaced by Sky Eats Airplanes vocalist Elliot Coleman. Less than a year later, Elliot left the band and fans were again left wondering what would be the next step. After all, the only official release with Coleman was the Perspective EP, which was a rerecorded version of “Eden” entitled “Eden 2.0” as well as acoustic covers of three songs from the One album (review) and a cover of Jeff Buckley’s “Dream Brother”. So many were left wondering when new material would surface.

Then, suddenly, a post on the band’s Facebook stated that not only had a new singer been locked down but that a new single, “Nocturne”, would soon be released. Anticipation reached cosmic levels. Could this song satisfy the hopes of so many after so much had happened? Well, I was given a copy of the upcoming single and I have my thoughts on it below. Read on for my review! READ MORE

TesseracT Reveal New Singer: Post Teaser Of New Song “Nocturne”

UK metal band TesseracT has unveiled Ashe O’Hara as their new singer, who hails from Hove, East Sussex. O’Hara has been a part of many groups over the years, from choirs to musical theater to ambient/metal projects to session work. Below is a picture of O’Hara with the band as well as a teaser video of the upcoming single “Nocturne”, which comes out Oct. 12th.

O’Hara states, “I have always been an admirer of their work so it’s pretty awesome to be passed such a challenging flame. I am very aware of the anticipation and I am certainly feeling the weight of it; but I am equally excited for what shall be an amazing and shithot experience!”

The band members comment, “We realize that the vocalist search seemed like it took a long time, but we wanted to make sure that we found someone who was a perfect fit both on stage and in the studio and Ashe is just that. We very much appreciate the patience and support our fans have shown us and look forward to the next TesseracT chapter.READ MORE
