BANDHAPPY Opens Registration Today

 BANDHAPPY Opens Registration Today

BANDHAPPY is a website that offers live, on-line music instruction in all sorts of different areas, such as instruments (guitar, bass, drums, vocals, etc…) to sound production and engineering, and much more. Many of the teachers that have committed to the site are from such bands as Periphery, TesseracT, Textures, Lamb Of God, Animals As Leaders, Soilwork, and more.

Today sees the site open for registration, both for prospective students AND for musicians interested in teaching. There are video tutorials for teachers and students, so make sure to check them out.
I personally think this is a brilliant service as students can not only learn about their area of interest but also about the real world applications. This is a chance for musicians to lay it all out on the line so that students understand exactly how big of a commitment this lifestyle can be.

[Review] Textures ‘Dualism’

Around since 2001, Textures are only recently getting the attention I believe they deserve. Maybe it’s the Internet and the vastly improved and creative ways in which people can spread the word. Or maybe people are realizing that they are just that good. In any case, it’s a welcome circumstance for a band that I feel deserves to be heard. Now, with the upcoming release of Dualism, their fourth studio album, this Dutch band is spreading further across the globe. But is it worth your effort to track them down?

Textures Posts Guitar Video Lessons On-line

TEXTURES 7-string guitarist Bart Hennephof has uploaded a second instructional video explaining “some of the coolest riffs used in the songs by TEXTURES” for his “Inside The Songs” series.  This new video offers an inside look into playing “Laments Of An Icarus” from the band’s third album Silhouettes (2008).
States Hennephof: “It is a mid-tempo song, with some tricky rhythms that I tried to explain as clear as possible.  Tune in for some heavy mathematical riffage that will break your strings!”
The band’s follow-up to 2008’s Silhouettes is due out in 2011.
Visit TEXTURES online at www.texturesband.com. Check after the jump for the second instructional video.
