The Darkness II Review: Embrace Your Dark Side

All of us have a dark side. It can be as small as a kid harassing a colony of ants with a magnifying glass, to something a little more serious, like a John Wayne Gacy type. In 2007, The Darkness let us embrace our darker sides so we could avenge our girlfriend’s, err, Jackie’s girlfriend’s murder. Impaling goons and throwing their limp body into a nearby wall was justified, and it felt good. With The Darkness II, it’s a little more difficult to justify the things Jackie does, but one thing is certain: it still feels really good.

The Darkness Gets Pushed Back A Few Months, Violent Sobbing Ensues

has a lot of potential. I loved the first game and I’m totally digging the stylish new look, so really all they have to do is refine the combat a bit. One of the big additions to the gunplay is a new mechanic they’ve implemented called “Quad-Wielding.” What that sexy term means is you can now use your Demon Arms to maim the ever living hell out of enemies while simultaneously firing dual weapons. I like this, I like it a lot. But is Quad-Wielding the new Strategic Dismemberment? It’s just as much fun to say and sounds like a fantastic way to unleash all flavors of kickassery on unsuspecting enemies, but only time will tell, and sadly, we now have more time to wait.

9 The Darkness Gets Pushed Back A Few Months, Violent Sobbing Ensues

Originally planned to be released in early October, The Darkness has now been pushed back to February 7th, 2012. Now, this definitely isn’t bad news, because and extra four months could be great for the game since it’ll give its developer a lot more time to make this the amazing experience we all want it to be. I was looking forward to popping my Quad-Wielding cherry, but for those of you who are planning on attending Comic-Con that kicks off tomorrow, the game will definitely be there. READ MORE

E3: The Darkness II Gameplay Trailer Is Evil And Excellent

Been waiting to see a little more from The Darkness II for a while now and finally we get more. And it’s looking awesome. I was a little weary on the “graphic noire” art style (cell shaded look) but I have to say the game looks beautiful. It also looks like the Darkness tentacles seem to have a killing mind of their own. Watch the video in full screen, for whatever reason the video came out smaller on the player.

Check out some awesome new screens past the break. The original voice of Jackie however, Kirk Acevedo has been replaced by Nolan North. Who has done tons of video game voicing (such as Nathan Drake), but I don’t know how I feel about him taking over Jackie. October 4th is the release date, and it will be coming to the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. READ MORE

Darkness II Teaser Release Trailer Gets Me Feeling All Evil

Fall is normally a wonderful time for video games. The Darkness II is keeping the fall video game madness dream alive, as it will be released on October 4th, for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

The Darkness II takes place 2 years after the original game as Jackie is now head of the Estacado crime family. He hasn’t unleashed the Darkness since avenging Jenny’s death, but an attack on Jackie’s life not only starts a full blown mob war, but unleashes the Darkness and sends Jackie on another trip to hell. Screens past the break. READ MORE

New Darkness 2 Screens Will Eat Your Heart Out

I have some brand spanking new screenshots for you to feast your eyes on. The screens show off the game’s new hand-painted graphic noir art style that reflects the look and tone of the comics the series is based off of. If anything it’s going to be a lot more appealing to the eyes while retaining the series’ signature gritty tone even better than the first game did.

4 New Darkness 2 Screens Will Eat Your Heart Out

Not much else is known about the game other than it will more closely follow the comics, has acidic urine, and will use a completely different engine than its predecessor did. Head past the break so you can witness some wicked new screenshots. READ MORE

Rumor Confirmed: Just As We Presumed, Mike Patton Is On Board For The Darkness II

A few days ago we heard that Mike Patton would be returning to voice The Darkness in the game The Darkness II. Then we almost immediately found out that it was not official. HOWEVER, after not really doubting its happening, turns out the rumor is confirmed. Mike Patton will reprise his roll. “It feels really good to be the bad guy, and The Darkness is as bad as it gets,” said Mike Patton. “I’ve read through the script and Jackie is going to be a brutally tortured soul. I’m looking forward to making his life a living hell.”

1 Rumor Confirmed: Just As We Presumed, Mike Patton Is On Board For The Darkness II

YES! That sounds promising. So does this. “The story behind The Darkness II wouldn’t be complete or authentic without the character of The Darkness,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “Mike Patton brings a completely unique perspective to the role which is essential in creating the world of The Darkness.” Chris Harmann from 2K is a great man. He knows games, and knows what players want. READ MORE

The Darkness II Announced, Finally!

2K has finally announced that we will be graced with The Darkness II, sometime in the fall of this year. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I loved the first game and I really couldn’t wait for a sequel. THe great thing about the game is that you can dual wield guns while also controlling the 4 demon arms that are also attached to you. They call it, “quad wielding”.

1 The Darkness II Announced, Finally!

The best part about the game? Well it was originally a comic book. And 2K is making sure it stays on track with its comic book roots. They will also have award-winning comic book writer, Paul Jenkins to keep the story on track. More past the break. Click the main picture to enlarge it. READ MORE

Headlines in Horror: The Darkness 2! Deadly Premonition 2! A Possible Fatal Frame Remake!

This is the time of year when I like to break out some of my favorite horror games to help get me in the mood for Halloween. This means games like Dead Space and Condemned 2 that have been collecting dust over the past year finally get some good use, and when I’m not engulfed in the comfy embrace of my Sumo Gigantor you can usually find me in the theatre watching whatever new horror film that just came out.
