As promised, Vertigo Comics has released their TV ads for book one of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which was released last week. The two ads are essentially the same, one running 15 seconds, the other 30 seconds. The latter ad proudly displays a rather ignorant quote from Vogue that reads, “Lisbeth Salander is a superhero for grown ups,” referring to the lead character. Apparently, I’m not a grown up. It is a constant struggle in the comics industry to reach out to new readers. Part of the problem is that all the advertisements for comics end up in the comics themselves, thus preaching to the already devout choir. Well, DC is stepping up once again, delivering TV commercials for their adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

DC Comics announced today that the widely popular crime thriller series, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, will be adapted into a graphic novel under the Vertigo imprint. In case the two film versions weren’t enough for you, now you can read it in an entirely new format. The series will be written by Denise Mina, with art from Leonardo Manco and Andrea Mutti.
